The original soundtrack album for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, to be released on December 18, will include over 60 minutes of John Williams score, plus an additional song written by J.J. Abrams and Lin-Manuel Miranda, specifically written for a scene reminiscent of the Mos Esley Cantina of Star Wars.
Abrams decided that he and Miranda would co-wrote the song after Williams said he’d rather not write any source music and focus on the film’s score, as Abrams explained earlier this week during an interview at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon:
