John Williams Receives 50th Oscar Nomination for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

John Williams has received his 50th Nomination for the Academy Awards for the original score to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The other nominees in the Original Score category are Ennio Morricone for The Hateful Eight, Johann Johannson for Sicario, Carter Burwell for Carol, and Thomas Newman for Bridge of Spies.

“I’m deeply honored and grateful to the Academy for this recognition. It’s been a privilege and a joy to revisit the Star Wars galaxy and to work with the brilliant director J.J. Abrams on this very special film,” John Williams said upon receiving the nomination.

The 88th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST. – Full list of nominees
