Yes that is an old post indy4; Mr Movies posted it here on JWFan 4 minutes after MV posted it on FSM right here in this thread on page 2:

I know he posted the segment of the track list, I made my post to supply confirmation that John Williams was involved in this release.

The Fly quote or not, let's not panic just yet. Somehow I doubt JW did anything drastic, given this type of release.

Can somebody confirm the track timings for the segment of the track list we have? Any major edits? We probably can't know for sure since we don't know how much time is left at the end of each track, but we can still anticipate major edits.

I think Williams and Goldenthal have been hanging out and plotting how to intervene in LLL releases.

Added up, the three LLL tracks come to 17:53. The pre-Concord track 'The Ultimate War' runs 19:52, but that appears to include No More Hook (or w/e the cue's called; that short one when the Crocodile falls on him). So... possible edits?

I think the only major editing question would be whether the inserts for Part I are incorporated in the track or included as extras.

Same here man, the next 23 days need to go by a lot quicker! :D

Anyhoo, just looked at the three Ultimate War tracks I have, combined they run almost 20 minutes... HOWEVER, when you snip out the Tinkerbell becoming big music, it runs about 17:29ish. So maybe the LLL version has the inserts.

I should probably be focusing on something else, haha.

I think it's safe to assume the Tink grows up will be separate from the "Ultimate War" bits judging by the times. The "No More Hook" portion would probably start track 8, especially if it continues to be a gapless playback portion like with the rest of the "Ultimate War" bits. That's just my THEORY though. We'll find out in just over 3 weeks.

Do we know the Ultimate War segments will be gapless playbacks? I assumed they were just separate cues that overlap in the film, like how "Map/Out of Fuel" and "Slalom on Mt. Humol" were separate tracks on the Concord ToD expansion.

Confirmation that John Williams was involved in this release from the FSM thread (there are three posts here, quoting is different on FSM):

This continuous track (but indexed) of pure film score glory:

5. The Ultimate War: To War** 9:45
6. The Ultimate War: The Death Of Rufio* 2:36
7. The Ultimate War: Sword Fight* 5:32

* Previously unreleased
** Contains previously unreleased material

So Williams requested that one long track be broken up and require gapless playback or an audio editor to play back properly?

Ugh.

Yes, musically it makes sense to have them as gapless playback. It would be weird to hear each cue on its own with a clean intro / ending.

Okay, I don't want one long track that lasts 18 or 19 minutes!

So breaking up the cue was the right choice. This isn't just 1 cue anyway! This is a piece made up of several cues spliced together!

Odd that Williams requested gapless playback for this, but in the Indy box set requested all the cues remain separate even when written to adjoin one another.

Ultimate War runs around 17 and a half minutes without the music from the preceding Tinkerbell scene and No More Hook segment. I think we can safely assume that it is the complete music for the sequence.

I hope Williams only had input on how the cues should be separated or joined and not in excising anything from the release to create one of his dreaded listening experiences. I do love the man's music but I certainly do have some issues with the way he arranges it on his albums.

Ars superior est vita hominum.

"We pop out and come into the world and music is there. We didn't invent it - it's all organised in the atmosphere by divinity or whatever. It's a miracle." - John Williams-

I think music is a stream of some kind. It could be blood. It could be water. It could be ether. Whatever it is it seems to be a living, organic force that’s in motion, that serves humanity and is part of humanity and part of what describes us as humans. We sing, play, dance, all the things that we do. And there is a vibrant and great literature we have been given. ... As musicians, we join the stream. We swim in the stream with all the other millions of music makers. It’s a life force, a strong one, surrounding us and we are part of it. -John Williams-

I applaud Williams involvement in the release of his own music. Especially with Hook, which is a great score, but certainly overlong. There's a lot of stuff that simply slows the score down.

If only Williams had the same pride for his music like e.g. Howard Shore who wanted Complete Recordings of LotR scores released. He is just too humble for his own good when it comes to his best work. On the other hand I would love some insight from the Maestro on the genesis of this score.

I'm sorry, but you're crazy if you think that releases like the expanded Jaws, Close Encounters, and the Indy box are better than releases like Home Alone and 1941

Not crazy. Just a matter of taste.

Although I also prefer the Matessino style, I don't really mind if Williams himself wants to get involved. I respect the maestro's wishes.

I don't own Home Alone, but I think the expanded 1941 is a tad too much. And it's nowhere near as long as Hook. There are a lot of short, softer cues in Hook, especially in the beginning of the film which are all a bit samey to me. I thought that many years ago when I heard the Concorde boot and I still think that today.

Comparing Hook with Jaws is just silly to me. Jaws is a very sparsely scored film, while Hook is pretty much wall to wall.

I wasn't comparing the scores. I was comparing the presentations.

I prefer the complete presentation Matessino gave to Home Alone and 1941 to the Williams-mucked-with non-chronological presentations we got for Jaws expanded, CE3K expanded, and the Indy box.

In my PERSONAL opinion, 100% of the releases Williams has NOT been involved in have been perfect presentations, and the ones he HAS been involved with have all had flaws.

Well it is going to be a 2 disc release and it is going to have the Ultimate War most likely complete. I would buy it even for that alone.

I prefer and have always preferred Matessino style excellent complete releases. As I have always said, you can programme too long score into a shorter presentation but not the other way around.

I don't quite understand why you are surprised by this. With Intrada, La-La Land, FSM, Varese Club/LE, Kritzerland, Quartet, etc etc we never get the track lists until the CDs are for sale or at most a half-day before. This one is no different.
