Oh no! Now there is one more thing in the world I have to feel pain for and worry about. Poor elephants. :(

Ars superior est vita hominum.

"We pop out and come into the world and music is there. We didn't invent it - it's all organised in the atmosphere by divinity or whatever. It's a miracle." - John Williams-

I think music is a stream of some kind. It could be blood. It could be water. It could be ether. Whatever it is it seems to be a living, organic force that’s in motion, that serves humanity and is part of humanity and part of what describes us as humans. We sing, play, dance, all the things that we do. And there is a vibrant and great literature we have been given. ... As musicians, we join the stream. We swim in the stream with all the other millions of music makers. It’s a life force, a strong one, surrounding us and we are part of it. -John Williams-

Elephants in circuses will never be slaughtered for their ivory or meat, or because they strayed too close to a farmer's field, or out of revenge for trampling through a village one night after eating fermented fruit.

Apparently Mr. Baldwin is also against puppies and kittens being taken from their parents and sold to pet shops.

@Wojo: stop being facetious.

Are you suggesting that this circus life is better than a natural life? Let's see. If you're in a one of the circuses that Baldwin is referring to, then you have a 100% chance of being separated from your family, living an incredibly painful life, and living a life that is dictated by fear. If you live in the wild you will be able to stick with your family, your life will not be ruled by fear, and while there is a chance that you will be killed for meat, even if that happens it will be a relatively quick slaughter compared to the years and years that circus elephants are forced to put up with this pain for.

Apparently Mr. Baldwin is also against puppies and kittens being taken from their parents and sold to pet shops.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was.

I prefer my elephants with their own kind filling their role in their ecosystem.

There's just so many elephants.
