  2. I heard Spielberg shot an alternate ending with E.T.'s ship getting lost in the Bermuda Triangle (which would lead to a sequel). Since he didn't use it, it might explain the missing triangle as he would like to remove any reference.

  4. Hey guys, first time/long time...the track list will post tomorrow at noon Eastern/9 Pacific. No hints yet except to say that you may have to try very hard to find fault with this set. E.T. has been my favorite movie since I knew what movies were, and I can't imagine this done any better. Hope to see you then, and by all means, stay awhile if you like the site! -M.D.

  5. It's 9M2 Stay With Me. This music was already released in the 1996 and 2002 CDs as "ET Is Dying". For the final film, an insert was recorded that replaced the opening (and by opening, I mean the first ~90 seconds, the bulk of the cue). This revised opening is amazing and really heart tugging, one of the highlights of the entire score. It was always kind of weird that the 2002 release put most of the inserts back into the cues, but not that one. The only way for us to hear it clean until now was via the 1996 laserdisc's isolated score track. Now, we finally have the insert professionally edited into the end of the original cue on disc 1 (Stay With Me), and the full original version without the insert on disc 2 (ET Is Dying).

  7. BO-FUCKING-TANICUS!!!!!!!!!! Well, thanks to the inclusion of a track I knew nothing about nor had ever heard of before, this release has been saved from being an unmitigated disaster. In closing: Thank you, Mike Matessino.

  8. Now, given that we were challenged to find flaws in this release, I'll raise the first: why did the concept art list 20 tracks on Disc 2 and yet the official tracklist only has 19? There's a missing track after Searching For E.T. (Alternate) that was previously included, based on the publicity material... Three Million Light Years From Home Abandoned and Pursued E.T. and Me E.T.’s Halloween Flying E.T. Phone Home Over the Moon Adventure On Earth The E.T. Adventure * Far From Home / E.T. Alone (Alternate) ** The Encounter * Meeting E.T. (Alternate) * E.T.’s New Home (Alternate) ** The Kiss * The Levitation * Searching For E.T. (Alternate) ** E.T. is Dying The Departure (Alternate) End Credits (Alternate) THIS IS A CRISIS! WILLIAMS HAS INTERVENED! EVERYBODY PANIC!

  23. My autograph stories can be summarized thusly: I was never interested in autographs, and had no intention of getting one by John Williams. But back in 2005 and 2006, when I was a B celebrity here in Norway (and signed my own autographs), I was once on a tour and was called aside by one of my co-stars in the TV show I was in. HE was a collector of autographs, and he told me he had a fellow collector in town that wanted to see me. So we met up with the collector where he worked (a grocery store), and he surprised me with a gift from under the counter. It was a signed photograph of John Williams! That was certainly a delightful surprise. So even if I've never asked for one by the man himself, I still have one -- framed -- on my shelf. Alas, it's not personalized. A similar story occured years before I was a celebrity. This was back in the late 90s. I was in e-mail contact with Richard Elfman's girlfriend at the time (can't remember why; could be because of my Elfman Yahoo Group), and she eventually sent me a signed mini poster of MODERN VAMPIRES, signed by Richard and Danny Elfman. So that, too, is now framed on my shelf. Beyond that, I don't have much in terms of autographs. I have the TANGO & CASH album signed by Harold Faltermeyer (because I was one of the first to buy it), and the two solo albums by Bob Siebenberg (Supertramp drummer), probably because he signed everything that was bought from his online store. I also have a signed photo of Roger Hodgson (Supertramp lead vocalist) that I bought at a concert some 5-6 years ago. That's about it, I think.

  24. I have this box, which includes Vol. 1 and Vol. 2: Then I also have Vol. 3, which was released independently by GNP later on. I did not pick up the 40th anniversary collection, as I already have everything of Williams that I need in these sets.

  28. This is probably true. Although I will also say that every interview I've ever read or seen with her going back 30 years tells me that her goals are always to make a film as good as immediately possible. This is why she is a consummate producer. This is really her first role as a true executive, not just heading up a production company.

  29. I laughed out loud a few times at this one. E.g. this moment: Reminds me of my 8th grade drama class LOL. This moment is great too: And you can clearly see he's reading off his script located just off-screen. I haven't laughed this hard in a while.

  37. 1. Hook has many flaws, that MM would never approve, like film stems as sources, album compilations not seperated, missing inserts, film versions in the bonus section, hardly any real bonus tracks (3 discs would be required) 2. It's one of Williams' most beloved scores and is OOP 3. MM knows what the reaction would be if LLL just re-released the 2012 version 4. Meanwhile, Williams is much more open-minded and accepts MM's decision in creating a chronological score program 5. There's still reason to expand the old Hook expansion, since it's far from a definitive version The only problem, that prevents a better Hook from being released is the fact that some of the original sources of some cues cannot be found. But all in all, it promise you, as far as the find these fucking sources, Master MM is gonna work on it and make a 3 disc definitive version that satisfies even the most extreme JWFan!

  38. Ladies & Gentlemen-My Greatest Treasure! : "Amer - With Every Great Wish" -John Williams After many great pursuits and quests worthy of Indiana Jones caliber-I was able to secure this personalized autograph and another with Spielberg. Truly a great wish come true-Special thanks to two special people for their generosity and sincerity in helping me get these. With gratitude and thanks. Oh I'am " Over the Moon" today! I managed to send 2 pictures of Williams post marked to Dreamworks- Publicity Dept handling the 'LINCOLN' release- I figured it would be best to send at such a time What I didn't do was send the request to GSA- Williams agency [because I was advised not to by many folks] but then I was helped by a very special FSM member who got me access to Williams Manager at GSA via email. All the time advising me not to expect anything but cold and boorish response- and to my surprise I got a very positive response and the manager even helped me pick up Williams pics for the autographs- He was so kind and generous. I guess I was VERY lucky. Most mails that arrive at GSA are left in a abandoned box and not taken care off at all. He even sent my first fan mail letter to Williams. In addition my Dreamworks package also arrived to Williams so- they were able to get me both the pics!!!! Ah well, as they say when it pours..it rains!! hahahahh.. Im in heaven!

  41. I think this is a big reason. If these expansions were released digitally, with PDF booklets included, I'd buy them digital every single time. I don't really derive satisfaction from displaying a physical collection of CDs. Most of my CDs are languishing in boxes because I don't want to unpack them.
