  1. I wouldn't worry about it - I tried to trace this back to the source on Twitter. The rumor APPEARS to have been started by Mike Zeroh, a YouTube Doofus(TM) who posts 4-5 videos of Star Wars rumors a day that are mainly speculation, unsourced nonsense, etc. - with scattered information/news taken from legit or at least informed sources thrown in.

  2. I guarantee IX with be one single film about 2 hours and 15 minutes long; maybe 2.5 hours at max, like TLJ. Anything Mike Zeroh says can automatically be thrown in the trash as far as I'm concerned, as everything he says is complete horseshit that always ends up being wrong. I don't understand why there are still people that think he's a legitimate source. He's just some kid with a YouTube channel!

  4. It would make much more sense to me to just do "Episode IX, the final installment of the Skywalker saga" as announced literally only 11 days ago in an official press release.

  5. The creators of Seinfeld had a rule..."no hugging, no learning, no special episodes". Basically they wanted to get away from the sentimentality that had become a big part of contemporary sitcoms. Almost everyone on the show was selfish, self-centred and self-absorbed. And wonderfully so.

  11. Williams would quit composing if he ever had to work with James Cameron. He's clearly held in very high esteem though. There were persistent rumours about Williams scoring Avatar so who knows what happened there and why Cameron never sought him out. Maybe he did and was turned down?

  12. Tomb of the Dragon Emperor I refuse to call it "The Mummy" because the villain wasn't even mummified. What the fuck? The broad playing 007's wife is awful. The son now has an American accent. Everyone is out of character. Why even bother theming it around The Mummy series. Brand recognition, I guess. Never watch it. 2008 was a bad year for movies.

  13. Good film! Take this from a dude who doesn't care about Star Wars mostly out of the films, never watched Rogue One fully, doesn't watch any of the Marvel Universe films...I just thought it was (mostly) a very well done film starring a dude named Han Solo!

  17. You are allowed to mention two honorable mentions if you want. My top 3: James Cameron (Avatar sequels) Peter Jackson (anything) Martin Scorsese (anything) 2 honorable mentions for a top 5 would be: Christopher Nolan (anything) Terrence Malick (anything) Which three directors would you most like to see Williams compose a score for?

  21. Ooh, sounds good. I'll give it a listen later, but so far it seems promising, having John Takis on is great, big fan of his liner notes. Also I haven't listened to it in years but I remember Nightmare As A Child having a real freaky sounding 60's score. Looking forward to The Invaders discussion, though obviously that won't be till the end of the year, but I can wait. The other episodes sound just as good / interesting, especially you guys starting the discussion on his work on Thriller.

  22. Once again I must apologize for a tardy reply Fancyarcher, though I hope you noticed I did "like" your post right away. (I've had my hands very full with keeping a seasonal performing arts group running, but the season just ended last night.) I am so glad to hear that Episode 9 was your new favorite episode, topping 5-7! We now have our Episode 10 up, and if you like in-depth score discussion, I think it might even top Episode 9 for you. It is also the first one where we have a special guest -- in this case, film music writer John Takis, who most recently penned the notes for Quartet's Papillon release. He brings a wealth of additional score insight to this 'cast so I had a much easier job! Can't wait to hear what you (and others, if they are still reading this thread) think about our latest: http://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/766316-episode-10-the-twilight-zone-nightmare-as-a-child-nervous-man-in-a-four-dollar-room-1960 We agree with you on The Invaders overall, which is why we are planning to give it its own episode all to itself (we also plan to have a special guest for this one). You'll have to be a little patient for us to get to it though because we are going as chronologically as possible. Here's our upcoming schedule (I think we'll go back to an every other week schedule soon): 1. Man on the Beach (an unused pilot score titled “Jazz Theme #1” on the Goldsmith Twilight Zone disc) with Studio One “Fair-Haired Boy” (“Jazz Theme #2" on the same) as a music-only prelude/bonus piece since we can't find video of the program 2. Special CBS Library Music episode (much of this was also used on The Twilight Zone) 3. Gunsmoke #1 "Doc Judge" + "The Blacksmith" + "The Wake" (the three 1960 episodes) 4. Studs Lonigan 5. Have Gun - Will Travel (both episodes) + Flaming Star (finale cue...film released in December 1960) 6. Thriller #1 "The Cheaters" 12/27/60 + "The Poisoner" 1/10/61 7. The Twilight Zone #3 "Dust" 1/6/61 + "Back There" 1/13/61 8. The Twilight Zone #4 "The Invaders" 1/27/61 Yavar

Super Mario World on the SNES is the only Mario I played to completion (96⭐) and so naturally it's my favourite. Best is debatable but my favourites have been: Destiny SOMA Inside Bloodborne Horizon: Zero Dawn

  25. I was always amused by this name because if you say it, in Polish it would mean something like "boor himself" (although spelling would be different). Lost in Space by Bruce Broughton. Wish all rushed scoring assignments turned out as good as this one. While it isn't exactly a score of great dramatic depth or psychological insight, the writing is really strong all the way through and way above most stuff written these days with schedules 6 times as long. 26. The games industry is fascinating economically. If you want more of this type of narrative, I’d recommend Console Wars.

  27. Unless this turns out like Harry Potter and one film really does get split down the middle, I have no idea why anyone would be opposed to this rumor. There's nothing sacred or special about trilogies. They should just call these Episodes IX and X and be done with it. Don't know if I'll ever see these anyway. Still haven't bothered with Solo.

  28. Christopher Nolan for sure. Peter Jackson would be interesting. As for a third, hmm. How about Wes Anderson? Would be quite intriguing to see what Williams would do for that assignment.

  29. The new version plays around a little more, elaborates on old ideas, and offers a more original orchestration. But I think nothing beats the original. Both are fantastic pieces, but the original is just a classic, still the best version.

  30. Though a lot of people complain about the lack of setup for this movie in The Last Jedi, there might be a benefit to that: they don't have any loose ends that threaten to tie down screentime for IX like the rescue of Han Solo in VI. I wouldn't be surprised if they do some in media res thing some time in the future.

  31. So ... Is there a chance to have a Pre-Recording broadcast for, TANGLEWOOD ON PARADE (John Williams + various conductors)? Tuesday, August 7, 2018 https://www.bso.org/Performance/Detail/93173/ Last year I had the chance to record it live from WCRB classical on a Pre- recording broadcast. Can't remember when I did it in 2017. Is someone knows the schedule for this year? Update: I should read all the comments before asking! lol Nobody knows yet... Of course. Sorry for my "impatience"

  39. There's nothing wrong with reissues either, though, if that's what this essentially amounts to. It's a very attractive package for people like me who only own the OST digitally. No one is being forced to buy this new release.
