  1. Well, pre-announces actually: COMING SOON LIMITED EDITION (3-CD SET)

  2. So, Ludwig Göransson is doing the score! https://www.starwars.com/news/ludwig-goransson-to-compose-score-for-the-mandalorian

  3. 3CD sets are becoming more and more usual. Especially when it's a JW release, it's not seen as a risk any more. The next Hook set will also be a 3CD set, I bet.

  4. To my recollection, there has been no soundtrack release whatsoever of John Williams' seminal SUPERMAN score thus far, so this is a monumental occasion. We needed this!

  6. Good choice for composer. I'll be curious to hear what his Star Wars sound is.

  7. I don't see any problem with it. His Black Panther score was great

  8. Superman is one of the best JW scores, I think I’ve bought it in all releases available... sequels as well! This will be phenomenal! Also, I feel that - though good as the Blue Box is - expanded editions has really moved into new territory. La La Land (and Varese) has raised the bar, lead by MM, in terms of presentation, both presentation of audio and packaging. Also... a SUPER cool announcement! Well done LLL! 😊

  9. Well, this set looks gorgeous! But I'll be listening to the other sets I ordered along with it first. Save the best for last and all that. Now playing: Empire of the Sun, disc 2.

  10. I'm a little disappointed it's not a 4-CD set??? - A JWfan

  11. Literally my most listened to track in the set. I love it! I was hoping it could have been the disc 2 opener, but there ended up being so many bonus tracks there was no wiggle room.

  12. Count me too, this dude has been a John Williams pastiche doll for ten years now. Goransson can make some real kick-ass music, so my interest in this show is slightly higher, now.

  13. I noticed the 'Buckbeak's Flight' statment on one of my first viewings of the film. As I child I always wondered why Williams didn't include it as an ending to 'Forward to Time Past'. But I was 10 years old at the time and was just starting to get obsessed with how thematic material could be twisted and turned in endless variations. I really grew up on these Potter scores. On a somewhat related note I never, ever noticed the connection between 'Harry Gets His Wand' and the beginning of 'The Quidditch Match' (mentioned in the liner notes). I'm not sure I can really hear it, though. This set is still pretty overwhelming to me, and I still need time to digest it all. Every time I try to write anything profound I just end up with a lot of random thoughts.

  14. Wow a big gap filled in my collection!!! And I found it for only 5 $ CAN (3,75 $US) shipping included! The guy who sold it clearly was not aware it was a rarity!

  15. The discs, cases and booklets are all in immaculate condition, as I think they took extra precaution packing it for international shipping! (Plus the $1.00 value mentioned earlier in the thread meant no customs charges, which was a bonus.) And La-La Land have since confirmed that they’ll replace the slipcase for me. 😊

  16. I agree sooo much! A wonderful piece of pure tension! And the details... Despite the apparently repetitive character of the piece (and the almost complete absence of "lyrical" themes), there is so much stuff going on in every bar... But my favourite part is the beginning (first couple of minutes). When you watch the movie, at that point you really get the expectation that something outstanding is going to happen.

  17. My word, 67 pages... this is a major event. My set arrived yesterday, along with Schindler's. Hoping to find some time to experience all it during next week's time off. Overwhelmed at the moment. Congrats LLL, MM and Jay.

  19. Seven: you, me, Joe, Alex, KM, pete, and hornist, although hornist didn't like it... ...so he/she doesn't count. (edit) I'm glad you see the funny side. Of course you count, and you're right, the score is FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. I went straight to these tracks when I got my set: The Rescue of Sirius (numero uno unreleased cue - dwarfs anything else) The Big Doors Sirius And Harry The Dark Forest (the subject of many problematic volume changes in the sessions) Having the original teaser music for PS is also nostalgically significant. I remember seeing the trailer back in 2001 and there's something about the Hedwig statement just after 'There's so such thing as magic!' which is subtly different from other performances. I'm still discovering things in CoS because the sessions were a bit overwhelming when they first emerged and I never fully listened to them.

  22. Speaking for all of us who are subscribed but never ever gotten anything from them even as spam (and there is a considerable number of us), I say that should just be regular procedure in the LLL thread, like how somebody usually pastes the clues from Doug's corner into the Intrada thread.

  25. My first memory of music is of being in a theater next to a theater that was showing Superman. I would have been 6. During a quiet moment in the film - or perhaps just before it started, I could hear the Superman theme (opening or closing credits) through the wall. I recognized the music either from having seen it before or from TV ads. I remember wishing I was in that other theater so I could hear more of the music. I’m sure we saw that as a family at some point during its first run, but I don’t specifically remember.

  26. Black Panther...and both Creed scores. The latter ones show that he can write and really properly develop a theme. I think the main Creed theme consists of no fewer than 3 sections. It's first rate stuff and he runs with it. Karol

  28. I like Debney quite a bit and would like to see him tackle a Star Wars job some day. But after Black Panther, I can see the new guy doing a good job too. I'll be excited for this!

  30. This cue may not be a top ranked one for many, but I right now just can't stop listening to "Time Past/Saving Buckbeak"! I love this sneaky, conspiratorial, and somewhat existential atmosphere that JW conjures. A long (nearly 10 minutes!), beautiful piece of film music, in perfect quality. Ah, a dream!

  32. Hum the opening “Harry Gets His Wand” tune twice as fast, or the “Quidditch Match” tune (the lyrical one right after that opening march thing) twice as slow.

  35. December marks the 40th anniversary of this beloved movie. Here's a lovely promo reel celebrating the 40th anniversary of Superman: The Movie, produced by Jim Bowers and Julian Adderley for CapedWonder.com And here's a great little interview to Richard & Robert Greenberg of R/Greenberg Associates about the still spectacular title sequence: http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/superman Finally, here's some memories from Richard Donner: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/superman-inside-story-director-richard-879894

  37. Receiving the set is like losing one's virginity at school was. Everyone feels like he has to get/give the package as soon as possible and those who are late in the game feel more and more desperation. Everyone is talking about this one matter and a few people cannot properly join the conversation and just talk about what they saw on the internet.

  38. Woohoo! Nice to have it confirmed. And wowzers, 3CDs! And they still had to put the source music on the II-III release! What comprises this set; two discs for the film score/alternates and a third disc for the OST? Wasn't the FSM release only two discs? Interesting!

  39. I assume that I will be able to return it to LLL. In the unlikely case that they tell me to keep it, I'll be able to make a very nice present for someone hahahaha No idea, the shipments are a mess. The first copy arrived at Madrid the same day as the replacement (and the replacement was sent 3 days after the original package), but it was sent to the postal service 2 days before the replacement. I think all these is random. I'm sorry. As I was saying I think the postal services are a mess, they are serving the packages randomly. I'm sure everything works smoothly in other time of the year but christmas is just crazy. I hope you get yours soon
