    Hey guys,

Been a while since I posted here, but I just thought I’d drop by to let you know of a soundtrack concert report site that I started recently. I’ve actually just posted my report of John Williams in Milan! Here’s the link:

Sandor reacted to Trumpeteer in Discussing John Williams' final Original Song Oscar nomination
On episode 63 of The Best Song Podcast, I discuss the stories behind the creation of the five songs nominated for the 1995 Original Song Oscar. That includes "Moonlight" from the remake of Sabrina, a song written by John Williams and Alan & Marilyn Bergman. For all three of them, this would be their final Oscar nominations in the original song category. I covered this film in episode 77 of The Baton, but it would be great for you to hear the song stacked up with its Oscar competition, and celebrate John Williams' final original song nomination.

Competition was tough for this Oscar, though Disney went all-in for Alan Menken's chance to win a fourth Oscar for original song with "Colors of the Wind," and Bryan Adams had a #1 hit song with "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman." While the five nominees are great, you'll hear some songs that failed to get nominated, including a very popular song by Whitney Houston.

JWFan was born 25 years ago today!

Hard to imagine back then that the site would still be up and running two and a half decades later, let alone that the Maestro would still be active after having composed nearly thirty more film scores and a similar number of concert works, as well as conducting over 200 concerts including Vienna, Berlin, Milan and Japan!

Dozens of his film scores have received perfect releases during all this time, providing fans with the confidence that many more will come in the future, while maintaining and further enhancing the collective appreciation and admiration for the music we all love and which will remain with us for the rest of our lives.

The analysis and discussion of his work has reached such level of comprehensiveness and detail, that our forums have become an essential reference for fans and scholars, while fomenting the creation of fascinating projects that expand and deepen the study of the Maestro’s oeuvre and contribute to increasing its appreciation by future generations who, without doubt, will continue to ensure that his name is in the place it deserves in the history of music and cinema.

Thank you, Mr. Williams, and thanks to all those who have contributed during this time to make the site such a wonderful place. Here’s to 25 more!

For those offended, annoyed, upset or what other negative emotion his nomination has triggered: it must kinda suck to be you.

Saw this on Intrada's Facebook page, I guess take it with a grain of salt.

Who knows what's happened in 5 years though... I thought Universal scores were relatively straightforward expansions, and BOT4J is the last outstanding JW MCA OST to be expanded.

July 4th 2024 would be a perfect release date though, being July in the film's 35th anniversary.

    Beautiful photos, congratulations!
46 years of collecting John Williams here. First purchase: Star Wars single in the fall of 77 when the film was released in France. Then the double LP at Xmas. It’s been quite a ride since. This man has really brightened our lives, hasn’t he?

Thanks! My brother painted the mural years ago. On the other side of the same room he started a bigger one, which he still wants to finish one day.

Sandor got a reaction from Arnaud2 in Celebrating 30 years of being a John Williams fan and collector
In a couple of months, I'll be celebrating my '30th anniversary' of being a John Williams fan and collector.

Growing up with films like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and E.T., I've been intrigued by Williams' music since childhood, but it was during the Spring of 1993 that I became a true and devoted fan.

My life was very different 30 years ago. I was still living with my parents, attended the final year of high school, had hair on my head and I had no idea how my life was going to turn out.

I look back on 30 years filled with significant events, ranging from wonderful to not so great. I became a teacher and headmaster, got married to a beautiful wife, bought a house, lost my stepfather and grandparents, traveled the world, became father to an autistic son and successfully overcame an episode of depression.

The music of John Williams has been an integral part of my personal journey and has always had a positive effect on me.

Today I had some photos taken of my entire collection, something I've been wanting to do for years. I hope you will enjoy them and here's to the next 30 years!

Thank you for this post, Sandor. Time flies like an arrow, and it's about 30 years for myself after seeing "Born on the 4th of July" in cinema and falling in love with the wonderful Trumpet Solo and String Sound. Shortly after I got a copy of Star Wars on Tape and realized that this was the same composer. The journey started from there, living in a small town in Austria without an adequat CD-shop for Film Music, and - of course - no internet. About 1 - 2 years later I went to Paris with some friends and visited the "Virgin Megastore" at the Champs-Elysees. I was in heaven I spent too much money there (for me beeing about 16 years old) and took about 10 CDs home by train... Since then, I saw JW live in Tanglewood in 2003 and in Vienna in 2020 and could not imagine a life without the music of this genius.

BTW, not sure if I got this right... Is there anything special about "Goodbye, Mr. Chips"?
