  1. I love Giacchino's score for that so much it's actually tempting me to see the film, just out of curiosity. That and I think Matt Reeves is pretty good.
  2. Been rumored for a long time, nice to see it semi-officially. BTW Mark, didn't you call LaLaLand for this one?
  3. RPGs dying? Tell that to Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fable, Final Fantasy, Dragon Age...
  4. Lost, Battlestar Galactica, and Doctor Who have produced more good music since the middle of the last decade than virtually any film score. I don't care what the medium is- film, TV, or VG, good music is good music.
  5. Lost Medal of Honor, Star Trek, Up, Let Me In, Secret Weapons Over Normandy... Everything Giacchino writes has his distinct voice loud and clear, whether he's doing "pastiche" or not. At this point I think anyone that can't hear it is just choosing not to. A couple of years ago I would have agreed with you fully, but Battlestar Galactica and the newest Star Trek have proven, to my eyes, that at least in some areas CG has finally pulled equal with physical models.
  6. After 2 viewings I've given up trying to follow the plot of the 3rd movie. I love the first two, and the new one is doing exactly what I was asking for after the last one. I'm good.
  7. It's time to stop holding out hope for a good Superman movie, and just sit back and enjoy the train wreck.
  8. I'm with Joe on this one too. I want movies in the best quality available, not like I'm watching them on VHS. Patton on Blu really does look like it was filmed yesterday, but not in a way that hurts the experience.
  9. Battlestar Galactica- Vol. 1 (Stu Phillips) House of Usher (Les Baxter) John- who can't believe he's first to the punch on this for once
  10. This thread at Telltale has a lot of stuff, including comments from Ron Gilbert. And I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just interesting and amusing.
  11. The main difference is there's very little anger anymore, just general descriptions about why games suck. Still entertaining, but nowadays I'm getting more laughs out of the games themselves rather than his lines about them.
  12. And of course the Pirates movies have many homages to Monkey Island, intentional or otherwise.
  13. Yes indeed! I have no strong feelings about 3D, but if it's going to be done I'd rather it was shot that way rather than converted later.
  14. Great read. I like everything I'm seeing. I love Abrams' old-fashioned approach to trying to keep most everything about the movie secret until it's actually out, or close to. Very hard to do this day and age. And for my money the names Spielberg and JJ Abrams should be just as good marketing as any superhero or franchise name.
  15. Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. More CE3K than ET though.
  16. Indeed. And afterward for some reason all I could think was "Abrams' CE3K". Really reminded me of that for some reason. Overall I saw 3 trailers for movies I'm looking forward to: Cowboys and Aliens, Super 8, and Pirates 4. Thor and Captain America also looked better than expected to me. The less said about Transformers 3 the better.
  17. Alexis' normal voice sounds like a fake accent to me. When I see him in Dollhouse I have to remind myself he's not putting on an accent in that.
  18. The wheat field scene, before Gladiator made it cliche. "James, if you're going to play with gadgets all night you could at least hand me the one in the drawer." "It's not what it looks like. She's helping me to score....WITH my score."
