  1. have never seen it. What is this FoxConnect exclusive I see here? (i like it better than the regular edition cover) http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Fly-Blu-ray/78375/
  2. I also wanted to ask if anyone has the Bluray of Body Heat and could help me with a question I have (I also posted in bluray.com about this and it's something that drives me crazy) By the way, i've only seen this once, but the review about the quality persuaded me to buy it!! (although I don't like the grapes scene.) 5 out of 5, both in video and audio. (of course I wouldn't just buy anything that has high ratings in the technical specifications) http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Seconds-Blu-ray/25112/#Review
  3. She's another gay icon. Hmmm... I doubt that anyone remembers her now.. Except for hardcore old movies fans like me.. You should have put Judy Garland!
  4. I'm not entirely sure, (Alex can speak for himself), but I think it wants to imply that whoever likes Elton John, or Lisa Minelli etc. is gay, so he put that photograph as a joke of a girly depiction of a person. This is how I understood it.
  5. Wow, Joey! One of the truly finest films of the last 50 years!!!! I envy you !!!!!!!!!!! Why? Won't you be able to get it too? oh, I see it got an Oscar for the music too. i have never heard it!
  6. So, a straight man just likes plain, unimaginative plastic Blu-ray cases? (and if the Bluray discs came wrapped up in a newspaper, it would be even better for them?)
  7. I have never seen this film, and I have heard very good words about it. (is this based on true events?) And I have a thing for digibooks too! More than steelbooks. They make a Bluray seem so classy and classic! (Up until now I have Pillow Talk, North by Northwest and E.T.) edit: Oh, I'm suprised that the standard quality Special features (which are in the DVD) didn't fit in the 50GB Bluray!!
  8. well, I mostly asked because I'm so looking forward to a Bluray I ordered along with the cd, and I saw today an excellent review of its quality.
  9. Some longer cuts are better than the originals: "The Abyss", "Dances With Wolves" to name but two. i wouldn't give you tuppence for any of these "harder" cuts, though. Does any-one really need to see more of the remake of "Total Recall"? Funny, i was just thinking that although I like longer cuts too, and i like Dances With wolves, i don't like certain scenes: eg. the scene that shows what happens in the fort before Costner arrives. In the theatrical cut it was more mysterious without having these early scenes. Also, although I prefer the Alien 3 longer cut, I don't like at all the last scene with Ripley. I prefer the theatrical edition for that scene.
  10. I do, at least in films that interest me. Eg. i recently watched the deleted scenes in Willow. They were quite interesting. They had this scene with a large piranhas-like fish, but as they said they encountered the same problem with Jaws, and the whole thing wasn't believable at all, so they discarded the scene. http://uk.ign.com/videos/2013/03/12/willow-fish-boy-deleted-scene
  11. I saw Ang Lee's "The Wedding Banquet" yesterday evening! (1994 oscar nomination for best foreign film - Taiwan) It was indeed a great film! plot from imdb: And as i was watching it occured to me, that even people with different cultures, maybe look alike in reactions and behavior. Eg. those people could be easily Greeks and have the same reactions (although maybe most Greeks would be more exaggerative in their behaviour)
  12. Has anyone got a shipping notification from Kritzerland? Although I did buy it from SAE.
  13. Some of my list of 100: all the Disney classic animation films all the Ghibli films Terminator 1 & 2 Dances with wolves The Planet of the Apes box the Star trek original movies box Titanic Meet me in St. Louis Casablanca Rambo trilogy (the remastered German releases) Predator (waiting in case the new 3d Bluray features a new 2d transfer too, otherwise will get the first release of 2008 and not the UHE) etc. etc.
  14. Ok, only this cue of the score is synth, but I kind of like it and it reminds me one of my favourite films ever!! (i wonder if this particular cue is all Williams in the sketches or if he had help from someone that knows synths. After all, didn't he have help I think in a couple of pop cues in A.I.?) And also thought to bump the thread.
  15. The Star Wars universe should have ended in 1983! Nothing after that!
  16. oh, now I saw the trailer and saw that Zimmer writes the score! Interesting! After all these adventures and sci-fi! i hope it's something along the lines of The Thin Red Line. I love that score!
  17. Can you explain more, where am I wrong? by the way, in these things there may be no right and wrong. There are just opinions.
  18. The samples seem pretty good. I don't know, but even in composers I like, I like their earlier stuff (usually pre-2000). I don't know why is that. @Thor is there an official release of Flight of the Navigator? i only see a bootleg. http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/title/10927/Flight+Of+The+Navigator
  19. I didn't say it's the only reason, but it's one of the main reasons (for adventure, fantasy, sci-fi films that is) Why is Terminator 2 a great movie and still stands the test of time? (ok, many of you may not agree). Because it has CGI that helps the story and compliments the film. If you would ask me, Termy 2 is still great because of the quality of writing, the storytelling (the way Cameron conveys it to us) and the virtuoso technical execution. Like Steef and others have said, the story itself wasn't that new or great (repeating a lot of the the original film). Take the same script, but with another director at the steering wheel, and I'm not so sure if we still would be talking about it. Look at the direction and execution of the scene where the T-1000 raids the mental institution/prison. Amazing and timeless. This is the Cameron I've missed during Avatar. Of course, the casting was perfect as well. Alex Another great one, True Lies! If this was done today, it would be overloaded with CGI, and the story, directing etc, would go to second place.
  20. Haven't heard these but I hope a "No Mercy" release (which is one of my favourite early SIlvestri synth scores), is soon to come.
