filmmusic got a reaction from JTN in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
I've read a comment somewhere that this is the best Batman movie that has ever been created.
Well, I don't agree of course, but it was quite good.
The music score was - I think - more operatic than needed, but whatever...
Also, I didn't like that the end credits included only a song. I would expect there the operatic music to take over!

I tried twice to watch it, but I slept both times. (I have reached the 1 hour mark).
I wonder if I should try a third time and finish it.
It didn't grab me at all. And the music score didn't help.

filmmusic reacted to Brundlefly in 96th Academy Awards (2024 Oscars for 2023 films)
Wow, out of the four Best Score nominees that I know the Williams score is my least favourite.
The great news is: the three best (American) films of the year are the three films that got the most nominations.

Well, generally speaking, yes.
(I had to look up what aberration means)

filmmusic got a reaction from Andy in Recently purchased movies / tv series
Just paid 171 euros at amazon.uk for these (10 movies in total). My collection habit is really expensive!

I LOVE this score (and film)! (although I'm not into synth scores).
Especially the theme.
I hope for an official release!

Always been a sucker for Silvestri's Synclavier excursions in the 80s, and this is a gem among them.

filmmusic got a reaction from Edmilson in First Impressions: The SCORES of 2024
The John Williams score that he'll compose totally out of the blue, without us knowing it!

Director's cut, with the Jerry Goldsmith score of course. (I don't like the Tangerine Dream one)
I don't understand the hate for this film. I like it a lot, but I don't know what went wrong with it.
I love the magical atmosphere, it has great production values and a sublime musical score (I think it's Goldsmith's masterpiece).
Also it's very hard to believe that they built all that forest in a studio! Wow!

Oh, the "almost as much etc..." went with the "I really enjoy this film".
I should have written it like this I guess:
I really enjoy this film, almost as much as the Indiana Jones original trilogy, although it has a lot of CGI (which I generally don't like).

And what a wonderful score. It should have been nominated for an Oscar!

A favorite movie from my childhood, a landmark in American cinema!
A bit complex script for kids, but it's delightful with a great Silvestri score too!

Ok, not the greatest of films, but it's a classic.
I assume the aerial shots with the airplane "fights" would be a sensation back then.

Commissioning Drew Struzan to do this magnificent wrap around gatefold is pretty legendary.

A sublime main theme.
I'm not so much fan of the scherzo, as are many I presume, but of the quieter moments.
I cannot understand why Williams has vetoed The Story of a Woman. It seems to me of almost the same caliber as this one.

filmmusic got a reaction from mahler3 in HOOK (1991) - NEW! 2023 3-CD Ultimate Edition Produced, Edited, and Mastered by Mike Matessino featuring all Williams/Bricusse songs
You know, I've got this cd before Christmas, and still I haven't listened to it!
I just want to listen with a clear mind, doing absolutely nothing else!
