Ah, OK. Well, I've heard most of those too. The titles that weren't in the first post of this thread:

AMERICAN SYMPHONY I had some hopes for, after Batiste's fine work on SOUL, but didn't really ignite me.

I can't remember if I sampled Bowers' version of THE COLOR PURPLE in my current walktrhough. Should remedy that.

Mark Horton's THE HOLDOVERS starts off somewhat interestingly, but then falls into boring tropes eventually.

THE ZONE OF INTEREST wasn't that interesting (no pun intended). It's usually the case with Levi. Very intriguing in the film, less so outside (except maybe bits of UNDER THE SKIN and JACKIE). It's droney even by Levi's standards.

    I have, yes. Quick rundown:

    Disliked SOCIETY OF THE SNOW.

BOY AND THE HERON was okay, but too stripped down.

POOR THINGS was a tad too bizarre for me.

DIAL OF DESTINY is good, but also plagued by some contemporary "cellularisms" in JW's style.

OPPENHEIMER has some good cues (to my amazement, as I dislike Göransson), but also a lot of non-descript stuff. Really disliked the film too, so that doesn't help.

The best score on the list is RUSTIN. Old-school jazz, like it came from a 60s TV show. Wonderful work by Marsalis, and a runner-up on my own top 10 of the year.

I liked the pop score to BARBIE, but I hated the film, so a difficult situation for me.

SALTBURN and NAPOLEON have a couple of good cues, but also a lot of underwhelming stuff.

ELEMENTAL was typical Newman, but without any definition or soul, IMO.

SPIDER-MAN, I listened to once and didn't make an impact. But I'm allergic to superhero stuff these days, so probably didn't listen as intently as I should have.

KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON works great in context (the film is beautifully spotted), but less enthused as a stand-alone listen.

I know I sampled ORIGIN, AMERICAN FICTION and NYAD, but can't remember a single note, that's how little impact they made.

That's for the titles in the first post. Scores in my own running include RUSTIN, DIAL OF DESTINY, NAPOLEON and SALTBURN, but I don't think any of them will make the top 10. So many other good scores ignored by the Oscars that are much, much better. I will not divulge these, however, until I've finished sampling the scores of the year and made my podcast episode.

    A sublime main theme.
I'm not so much fan of the scherzo, as are many I presume, but of the quieter moments.
I cannot understand why Williams has vetoed The Story of a Woman. It seems to me of almost the same caliber as this one.

Watched this from my newly purchased UHD! (awful cover by the way)
Great film of course, with lots of suspense.
The score is good too, especially the action cues, but I truly believe it stole the Oscar nomination from the great The Piano.

I have purchased this UHD but it's not among my favorite musicals. I find it somewhat disjointed.
Of course I love the classic Singin' in the Rain scene.

I cannot spend Christmastime without watching my favorite holiday film!
And large part is due to the great Williams score!

You know, I've got this cd before Christmas, and still I haven't listened to it!
I just want to listen with a clear mind, doing absolutely nothing else!

I love it, too, both film and score, and those three tracks are my favourite as well! (I've realized that we have very similar taste in film music).
And I really like Danny Elfman's "Desert Suite" homage with "Fireside" in Terminator: Salvation.

    - HOWARD'S END (1992), by Richard Robbins - Very good.

    - CHARIOTS OF FIRE (1981) (isolated score), by Vangelis - Sensational. Should be released on CD.

    3 favorite tracks from:

    Main Title (TERMINATOR 2 Theme)
    Desert Suite
    "It's over" ("Good-bye")

I adore this film! And how bad that the UHD is atrocious and can't legally see it as it should be!

Same here. Well, almost. Following Maestro Jay's instructions I put in Disc 3 to "experience it like a musical". I listened to a couple of tracks, then I turned it off (probably had something else to do) and haven't listened to it since. I can't listen to classical and film music while doing anything else like working or reading or eating. Listening to music needs my total attention. So I haven't listened to Disc 1 & 2 yet, it's waiting (im)patiently on my shelf for me. But the best thing is that when the day will finally come to listen to it, I will have the set.

Great score album, too bad the original recordings are lost so we'll never get a proper complete edition

Another one I saw in the actual cinema this summer.  I never got around to saying much here about it, but I also don't know if I have any thoughts that haven't already been expressed a bunch around here.  I really didn't like how they turned our hero Indy into a sad old man with a dead son who had to win back Marion yet again, I didn't like how the villains murdered random innocents who had nothing to do with the things over and over again, I didn't like adding a sci-fi concept like time travel into the world (juts as bad as adding aliens in last time), I thought the de-aging in the prologue was terrible, I just generally didn't really like anything about this movie at all.  Except the score, which I quite enjoy!

    What do you mean?

A remake is when you have rights to an existing film, and remake it.

Two completely different filmmakers making a movie about an actual thing that really happened is just.... two movies.  The one that happened to come out later isn't considered to be a remake of one that came out first.  Why would it be?

A masterpiece of Sakamoto, with a wonderful theme that reminds me of something, but I can't place it. (maybe of some Irish music I had listened to in the past)
I love the movie too. I hope it comes to blu-ray soon.
Does anyone know if the Legrand score of another film version of the book, is worth it?

Part III. This is an exceptional film. I do not, and will never, see why people seem to dislike it. Pure opera, with the emotional weight of the saga. Pacino’s scream at the end killed me. A masterpiece of a trilogy.

It is, yes. One of my Legrand favs, in fact. But the Sakamoto is excellent. Definitely top 10 by him.

Sorry, needed to squeeze one more Amar in there. Such a brilliant score, part minimalist, part broad and explorative. The 2CD set is too long, you'll need to whittle, but when whittled right, it's a nature documentary score on Fenton level.
