  1. Is there any way of downloading this into my hard disc, instead of seing this only as streaming files?
  2. does that mean its inappropriate to post here? Ted seemed pleased by the news and he may have missed it otherwise Not at all! I was just mentioning that this information is available for quite a while before.
  3. No I went to Varese Sarabande directly. No Colosseum.
  4. In the late 70's, there was this TV show here, where they played a movie every sunday afternoon, and ask a few questions, and then you would phone in oreder to get a prize or something... I was some 6 years old, and they were anouncing that day's film, based on Jules Verne's From Earth to the Moon. And as the host spoke, there was this brassy muisc playing in the background. I remember turning back to my mom and saying... "That's Star Wars music!" I don't know how I knew that, but I was right. Ever since, I've been in love with the scores to Superman, Raiders, E.T. and Return of the Jedi (the first SW film I ever saw). And also this olympic pice frrom 1984. Then in 1989 I bought the Indy 3 lp and I discovered all this and much more was the work of one single man. So I think you can say that I've been a Williams fan for some 25 years!
  5. They took a little time to process my last order -- about a week. In case they take too long, write them a mail. Since they shipped utill I had it on my hands, it took a month, but that depend on customs too.
  6. Varese is also releasing Goldsmith's Stud Lonigan, with young Johnny Williams at the piano. Go get it too!
  7. This as been made known for already a while, by the John Williams Web Pages (www.johnwilliams.org)
  8. :? i think I know what he means, even I can hum that I've been a fan of the Rocky music since early 1977 (before Star Wars was released). "Gonna Fly Now" (the 'main theme') is just one of the several wonderful themes featured in those scores I never saw any Rocky movie (I really can't stand Stallone), and even if I like the theme from the first movie by Conti, I'm sorry to say that I've never took the time to listen to his score, wich I believe that must be great, as you say, Ricard. As for English Patient, I find that there are a few interesting moments, but nothing that really grab my attention. In fact I've the cd around here -- I took it from my dad's home -- and given a listen to it, just in case I find something really interesting, besides Bach's beatiful music
  9. Music Match Jukebox. Ocasionally others. But I don't listen to muisc on my pc that usualy. I have a hi-fi on my home office, were i spent most of my time, so I use it.
  10. It does have a dramatic quality that is almost unique. Close Enocunters along with ET are probably my favorites. CE3K makes me remeber of Stravinsky's Lulaby and Final Hymn from the Firebird.
  11. The best thing on The english Patient disc wans't composed by Yared, bu t is the Aria from Bach's beautiful Goldberg's Variations. From Rocky I only know the main theme.
  12. You have to be sure who comissioned. I'm under the impression that the comission came from the LA Philharmonic. And even if it is comissioned by someone, that doens't mean that nobody else can play or record it.
  13. Jeff Eldridge's JW Web Pages used toi have some cue lists for some of the socres -- I remember he had one for None but the Brave, the Frank Sinatra directed film. I hope to one of this days to do that on my own site, but right now, I'm short in time.
  14. Right now, dollars and euros are about the same. So if i only had 20 euros in my pocket -- God forbid -- next week, I would go for the Potter cd.
  15. Morn, Merkel, you make me blush! (and Ricard, and Thor, and everyone else...) What I can do: I have translated from English a number of articles in the past, and I guess, I can get the originals available. That is easy. Now, getting the rest translated, that would be a really huge work. I've thought of trtanslating the Williams bio, the longer and more complete (I think) that's available in the internet, but I even have it tottlaly written -- missing four chapters! But all the help is welcome. And if that help cames in the form of translating some of this into english, then be it. Once again, thank you all.
  16. Just in case you're wondering, I do have a life besides posting here and having the site -- and with all that I've allready missed a lot of things. So I WON'T get it into english. I have been asked before and I remain with the same answer: this is mainly for portuguese reading fans, with the exception of the discography listing, wich I hope everyone is able to understand. I hope everyone else finds the site of interest, if not, then what I've done is for my own pleasure. As much as I understand your concerns, and yes, i would get much more trraffic if I had it in english, that is not my main interest. If, throught this, I've meet soem great people, got my collection bigger than ever imagined, and in the process help to enlarge the Williams fan comunity, then I'm a happy man. And even if I have a lot of material to add to the site, including a large listing to be added to the discography section, don't expect many updates in the near future -- my wife and upcoming baby boy are my top priorities! Along with many friends I've made in the internet... You all included. But not the site. Nevertheless, let me thnak everyone for the exposure the site just got here. I'm very happy you think so hight of it. Thanks.
  17. King Mark, I can understand your problem, since there's a lot of information about Williams concert pieces on my site... But this as always been intended to be in Portuguese, for portuguese talking fans. I'm sad that the great Jeff Eldridge site's is still lacking the pages with informations on Williams works -- but there are a few film scores listed and with info regarding them.
  18. I don't have an original, but I know someone who knows several people (Oscar guys) who got them -- pressed cd, as I'm told. Sadly I can't say what is the stuff written on the cd label.
  19. I would say that a complete discography is an almost impossible mission -- there are so many re-recordings of Williams themes, by so many people and ensembles... And I couldn't help noting that it's at least on John (Christopher) Williams -- the guitar guy -- cd on the listing from IClassics
  20. I belive they came from the two Philips albuns that included music from 1941: "Swing, Swing, Swing" (412 626-2, pice of the same name) and "By Request..." (420178-2, March from 1941)
  21. Midnight Express -- I find hard to believe anyone cares about that score!
  22. Was that confirmed by Universal? Since it looks that other european contries are only getting it on early 2003...
  23. Merkel, the 2 dvd set is already available here! I think I'll wait for the 3 disc set...
