    The Quick Question Thread

I listen to the Anthology because it sounds better to me, most of the time. I also like having a breather between tracks like the Hoth battle.

What Is The Last Film You Watched?

I fell asleep towards the end of Duel last night. Pretty good flick.

Jaws is dated in all the best ways.

    Tracklist for New Potter Film.

Yeah but the whole logo is on screen. Here, it says "Tury Poti" or something. It looks like some fanart where they cropped the movie poster and couldn't properly fit the logo.

    Tracklist for New Potter Film.

Yeah but the full title isn't even on there. It'd be like if ToD's opening title said "NDIANA JON". They look like weird CGI characters from a Robert Zemeckis movie.

The Struzan poster for movie 1 was fabulous.

    Pass. The coverart looks retarded.

'Film Night' at Tanglewood (July 18, 2009)

I'm going. Never been before, but what's the situation with seating? Are they provided or do you have to rent lawn chairs?

    The Quick Question Thread

What's the difference between the Theme from Sabrina and the reprise? The reprise is longer, but why? Is it the complete definitive piece?

Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan

I was watching this last night on TV. There's a shot of the Reliant in the nebula where it comes out of a cloud and you actually see it subtly coming through in such a natural way. I found it to be a fairly impressive and well-done special effect for the time. Except for Chekov's fake ear (which never looked good), I prefer the classic effects to the CGI of the new Star Trek. This one and First Contact have the best SFX.
  11. I prefer Chris Columbus' movies to the shrunken heads, muted/filtered colors and generally poor adaptations that followed.

    Jaws Score Discussion

He's right. A.I. is not in the same league. Jaws is a seminal work from JW's prime that neither A.I. or anything else released after that era can touch.

    Rate "Jurassic Park"!

It's the bad dino theme. End of debate.

    Jaws Score Discussion

The beginning of "The Pier Incident" when Brody is reading up on sharks is so awesome.

    Rate "Hook"!

I saw this movie as a kid and I loved it. I've found that most people of that generation look back on it fondly, while those of the earlier generation think it sucks, and today's generation have never heard of it.

    Rate "Hook"!

I've seen people here praise the album presentation of Hook, but it's a letdown for me. I hate not having the film version of "The Flight to Neverland" (the alternate on album is awful in comparison), "The Never-Feast" film version, the music when Peter goes into the nursery and looks at the wallpaper and the complete end battle. Frankly, all of it is sorely needed and this thing is long overdue for complete score.

5 star score. It's one of the best, sometimes I think it IS the best. The movie is underrated.

    Jaws Score Discussion

"Sea Attack Number One" is one of JW's most brilliant cues. I'm thinking specifically of when they start to scurry around the decks after the shark first passes. I sing this as though the notes are lyrics. Obviously, this isn't normal, but this is JW we're talking about here.

    Rate "Jurassic Park"!

All I can think of now when I hear the JP Theme are those lyrics some guy on the internet came up with.

My favorite part of this score is the fanfare when the cars enter the gate. Williams must have liked that part too, since he put it in TLW and both were featured on the albums.

Nobody mention the cardboard dinorama? Who needs the music when you can have a blast playing with the packaging.

What Is The Last Film You Watched?

There are several stories for how the first episode was original scripted, most recently John Landis wrote about it in a book. As it exists, I think the bigot story is a bit too Landis and not enough Twilight Zone. That's me. The last episode is generally considered the best, if not the only genuinely good one. Anyway, IJ and the Last Crusade. I want hair like River Phoenix in this.

Rate "The Lost World: Jurassic Park"!

I'm one of the few fans of the movie. It's not a great film by any means, but it's entertaining and a lot of fun. The CGI dinosaurs look even better than in the first Jurassic Park and perhaps as a result of Kaminfidhwjdjwoski's photography, they put poor Stan Winston's robots to shame. I'm sure a lot of work went into that baby stego, too.

I grew up with JP and I know it beginning to end. But I recently watched it and I had to laugh at how incompetent nearly everyone in this film is. The most interesting character is Malcolm because he comes off as so weird and insane, yet he's the only person on the island with any sense. Even the game hunter falls for the easiest trick in the book when faced with the raptors. Was this the first film to use a computer virus as a major plot device?
