  1. JFK is a fairly forgotten, somewhat banal entry by JW. In terms of his 90's output, I would not rank it very high. I mean, the prologue is really good and there are some nice moments like the theme with the bagpipes in The Motorcade as Kennedy enters the kill zone or whatever was going on there. But I rarely listen through the entire playlist. A lot of that patented JW "filler music" I guess. Jurassic Park is much more entertaining and overall a better piece of work. It's nothing to do with sentimentality or anything, it's just that good. Neither of these cues is the high point of either score. If you want to have a real debate, how about the JFK prologue vs. Journey to the Island or something.
  2. There was talk that those CDs in 2004 were remastered and I ended up getting them. Alas, they are the same thing. I have them in my truck now.
  3. I respectfully disagree. I love this whole track...like the fanfare in that fleeting shot of the helicopter dropping down when Grant can't figure out the seat belt (all beautifully photographed by the way--JP is a gorgeous film), when the jeeps are in the field after Hammond says "I'll be accepting YOUR apology", when you see the T-Rex skeleton...just the whole thing. Love it.
  4. Did you get the Anthology? There's one "like new" with a $20 BIN on eBay.
  5. So the LOTR fans want the extended/SE versions, and aren't getting them, and the SW fans want the old un-tampered versions, and aren't getting them.
  6. I hate when movies are split over multiple discs, tapes, Laserdiscs, VCDs, whatever.
  7. Yes. I can confirm that the JP ride gift shop at Islands of Adventure plays the entire T-Rex chase cue as well. I've also heard unreleased action music from TLW. Caught me off guard. Watch the place become a haven for unreleased Williams music when Harry Potter land opens... You know, I singled out a brief moment from this track, but the whole thing is thoroughly magnificent. Especially lately, I've been craving complete releases of 90's scores. Hook, of course, but also JP, Sabrina, Home Alone, Schindler's List and TPM (God damn that April fools prank btw).
  8. Oh Williams and his black turtlenecks. Congrats on autographed Star Wars.
  9. When the jeeps go to the visitor center...yeah. Don't you love it when Williams does this? Creating what could be a motif (could see this being reprised as like a traveling theme) for just a fleeting moment, ie the jeeps driving up to the building for like 10 seconds or so. Completely wonderful and why I love JW.
  10. I prefer the old banner. Is that little missing part from the beginning of Super Crime Fighter in the FSM Superman?
  11. Jaws, CE3K original album presentation, Superman, Schindler's List, ROTLA, Home Alone 2 and Sabrina.
  12. I like both of these tracks. The love theme and Leia's theme in that part of ROTJ is JW at some of his most magical. I love the part where they find the speeder and Artoo says there's no trace. It's like the Willie or love theme from TOD when she kisses Indy in Saving Willie. It's kinda sappy and over the top but in such a wonderful way that only Williams can pull off.
  13. This is a good release. Not just the musical content, but that a superior stereo expanded version of a long sold out limited edition from another label is being issued by La La Land. I hope we see more.
  14. Well, I understand double 0s have a very short life expectancy...
  15. Jeff Goldblum is watching his laptop counting down to release tomorrow. "Time is up."
  16. Yes. Most of the fights in the PT carry no emotional weight. The fight in Episode I may look good, but why did NOBODY talk during that whole thing? They're stuck behind those energy walls just staring at each other. Huh? We don't care about any of this. Christopher Lee (the CG version or whatever that was) fighting in the other movies just looked completely ridiculous. So did General Grievious and his 27 lightsabers spinning around in succession. Honestly, the Anakin vs. Obi-Wan fight was also ludicrous when they're riding the lava and everything suddenly looks like a cartoon. Don't even get me started on the Emperor and Yoda. Granted, I was spoiled growing up on "Your powers are weak, old man", Vader jumping down the stairs and collapsing that bridge Luke is on, the final duel on the catwalk where Luke cuts off Vader's hand and that scene in the tree where Vader's head is cut off and the helmet explodes to reveal Luke's face. Those were such great fights.
  17. Luke was the coolest in Empire. He was in that between phase where he was juggling a gun and a lightsaber. He had the better haircut, better wardrobe, he was buff and he looked less boyish and more rugged following his facial reconstruction. Looked like he lost most of his body mass in ROTJ and the black priest outfit (as cool as that one is) didn't really help in that regard.
  18. I imagine those being in the dungeon from Jabba's palace (the Skywalker Ranch basement) with a bunch of robots destroying them.
  19. The only reason I know that is because I remember thinking for a second that it was JW in that bts video on TPM DVD.
  20. Yeah it's Frank Oz when they were doing the scene in the castle with Yoda at the end of the movie.
