Gruesome Son of a Bitch reacted to JoeinAR in Star Trek Beyond (2016 Justin Lin) - The Big Bad Star Trek (X)III Thread
Look again. Lloyd was clearly identifiable, Plummer had minimal klingon skull make up, and is easily identifiable, Abraham was identifiable though less so but Elba is completely covered.
are we sure that isn't Ron Perlman.? I will say at least it is makeup, a physical sculpted piece of craft work. Its good enough to be safe on Syfy's Face Off.

I wish I had even a smidgen of excitement for this movie but I do not. Spielberg has not interested me lately. Bridge of Spies was 2 hours of boredom and revisionist history.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch got a reaction from The Psycho Pianist in John Williams' Film Night, Boston, May 12 & 13 2016
He's been doing that version for some time now. I asked about that years ago when I heard it live and was taken aback by the edits. I believe it was shortened for the Star Wars concert tour.

That's certainly the essence of Star Trek. Abrams couldn't have gotten it more right! What more could you ask from a Star Trek production?

It's an insult to a better time for Star Trek. For all the flaws of STTMP it was still better than the last two films. And it had an Enterprise that didn't look like it had sex with Peter Dinklage.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch reacted to Richard Penna in John Debney's CutThroat Island - new LLL 2CD by Matessino & Bulk coming July 5 2016
Hah! Arnold has a fantastic sense of humour on FB.
Is the complete set of this score OOP?

From Debney's Facebook account. Take notice of David Arnold's comment.

Given my new found affection for the ID4 score, I think I'll pick this one up too.

That clip seems to get "unearthed" every few weeks for the last 10 years!

Gruesome Son of a Bitch reacted to Naïve Old Fart in What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
I know what you mean. It's been one of my very favourite JW OSTs since I purchased a vinyl copy, back in 1975. It's also a very dry recording. Great!
Bes, don't you pay any attention to this guy. Unlike you, he's not a New World Man, or even today's Tom Sawyer!
No it's not.

Some more reviews that i found
Within 10 minutes he has plucked precocious bespectacled child, Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) from her orphanage and is leaping over oceans, mountains and through clouds to a soaring John Williams score.
http://lwlies.com/festivals/the-bfg-first-look-review/
Inexplicably, even soundtrack legend John Williams falters here - the score is really very bland.
http://film.thedigitalfix.com/content/id/79090/the-bfg-cannes-film-festival-2016.html
The occasionally pretty images captured by DOP Janusz Kaminski and omnipresent orchestral work of John Williams keep demanding that we feel for Sophie and her gargantuan friend, but Spielberg’s erratic tonality, overly-familiar technique and heavy-handed graphics renders what should have been a soaring adaptation of Dahl just plain dull.
http://screen-space.squarespace.com/reviews/2016/5/15/the-bfg.html
Spielberg’s film begins inauspiciously. Huge dollops of CGI, not to mention John Williams’s heavy-handed music, obscure the charms of Dahl’s simple story.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/05/14/steven-spielberg-s-otherworldly-the-bfg-the-legend-returns-to-cannes-to-take-on-roald-dahl.html
I seems modern film reviewers are incapable of appreciating or understanding symphonic orchestral film scoring.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch got a reaction from JoeinAR in The BFG FILM Discussion
The movie doesn't look like anything I would want to see. A catastrophe of CGI and awkward ugly motion capture that looks like that Zemeckis Beowulf movie. Yuck. I am, of course, judging it from a 2 minute trailer. Still, I think I got all there was to get.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch got a reaction from crumbs in Expanded releases: those that include the Original Album and those that should
One of the best edits is towards the end of "Anakin's Dark Deeds". Williams sure knows how to best present his music for a superior listening experience on album.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch got a reaction from Not Mr. Big in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
It's been on TV lately and I've seen enough of it to know I don't like it, and I love Michael Keaton. It's pretentious as fuck. I typically can't stand meta films about actors/filmmaking. There is one exception, which I watched last night:
Obviously one of Burton's very best!

Stargate
Last of the Dogmen
ID4
Tomorrow Never Dies
Godzilla
A quintet of sheer, awesome, divine magnificence. The End Titles to ID4 was so powerful, it gave my ex-girlfriend an orgasm when I played it for her.
I better call her before the GOP convention, even if she doesn't answer. Trump's win might make her think of me again....

Independence Day - David Arnold
Believe it or not, this is my first time listening to the score as a complete musical experience outside my general knowledge of it within the film. I must say, it's fantastic. More complex contrapuntally and harmonically than I was expecting. I don't mean that as an insult, I'm just largely unfamiliar with Arnold's work.
The various themes are not only extremely well written and formed, but also well used and manipulated throughout the entire score. Wonderful.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures hire Jerry Drax to direct and Justin White to write and produce Godzilla 2.
The script will consist of mostly stock dialogue from the 1998 film, but rearranged for a superior listening experience with a 40 minute runtime.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch got a reaction from JoeinAR in Michael Giacchino - STAR TREK BEYOND (2016)
All previous Trek composers understood the romanticism of the thing. Like Goldsmith said, Trek is romantic. Giacchino didn't seem to get this at all, although maybe he wasn't really at fault. Both scores are a massive letdown.
