Everyone will have a different understanding of what Star Wars is and what it means to them.

"To cheat death is a power only one has achieved, but if we work together...." - Palpatine to Anakin in ROTS

Theories coming from the comic, suggest only, I think, that Palpatine may have tried very hard to turn a foetus to the dark side inside the womb of Shmi... but that's all.

Palpatine is not the father.  Wookiepedia suggest that it might be Plagueis, but that the "creation" of Anakin might also been totally unintentional... I guess we'll never know!

Read by yourself, this passage from Wookiepedia:

One thing is sure, the Skywalker bloodline is the Skywalker bloodline, and the Palpatine bloodline is the Palpatine bloodline.

Well, they can't ever stray too far out of the nostalgia-grabbing zone because then people complain - stay too close and people complain still. So it's just stuck in this position of being marketed one way that tries to please everyone. I ageee with James Cameron that at least the Prequels were more imaginative even if they had some lacklustre storytelling.

The Mandalorian is good, but so far it's riding on the iconography of Star Wars without doing it's own thing. I really think they, Disney, whoever's making future films has to take greater risks in shifting the status quo of Star Wars into a more expansive universe.

I don't know Star Wars half as much as I should like; and I like less than half of Star Wars half as much as it deserves.

I know it's fun to dog on Yoda's line, but it is the thesis for the whole series. Fear is the root of all abuse. That's it.

Holy shit I've never seen this thread before.

Seeing the title actually just made me laugh at loud.

I'll say this though... after reading the disenchantment thread I'm not sure if I understand anything anymore.

Mattris got a reaction from Mr. Hooper in The Indiana Jones Disenchantment Thread!
With five Indiana Jones films to go on, it should have been realized and expected by now that the villains perish near 'the end' of the stories due to their greed and lust for power.

Within the context of the film's complete story, Voller had to survive his little train incident so that he would eventually travel back in time, only to die without attaining what he sought.

Simply put, the events throughout this story were meant to be, making sense of the film's title 'The Dial of Destiny'.

A truly magnificent evening! The Maestro was in top form and still sharp as a nail (except only a couple self-described “senior moments”, and during one I helped him remember Sean Connery’s name!). The new version of “Scherzo” was great fun and very much tailored for Anne-Sophie’s style, but the bigger highlight for me was the new version of “Anakin’s Theme” that was also done for her. It took the changes from the version debuted at Tanglewood this past summer and greatly expanded on them, ending on a haunting harp rendition of the Imperial March very similar to what’s played when the character dies at the end of Return of the Jedi - a truly unexpected and chill-inducing callback!

Mattris argumentations might be ignorant and annoying and people involved might feel insulted by it, but Mattris never makes personal attacks. On the other hand, he gets attacked more. So I think, rather he could use the report button sometimes.

I say not breaking character. Luke smiling was to suggest that he was the one who knew exactly how non-threatening the Ewoks were and that if it came down to it, he could use his powers on them and get everyone out.  The direction and smile are appropriate to suggest Luke was still in control and was enjoying watching his pals react.  It also is a nod to the audience to let us also know it’s all in good fun and Luke has the wisdom and Jedi maturity to let it play out a bit.

Well, I took this sample and tried my best to merge it a little more cleanly with what we have.  Here's the result (I ran under the assumption that bar 52 is the iris out and not the spot where the mockup actually started):

Sorry, I was a bit quick in my reply and misunderstood the intention of your message.

    To complete my previous message.
I think the use of the blue is interesting. Even if the Hook promotional campaign in Asia mostly used a photo montage on blue sky background. I doubt this visual inspired anything for this edition.

On the other hand, in the visuals not used for final campaign, there's a series of "window" visuals that are predominantly midnight blue with an orange moon (in the same tone as the parchment in which the logo with the illumination appears).

Then it exist same kind of visual but with real photos and props in a dark blue background. One of this visual have the logo in white and blue.

The complete logo with the illumination usually only appears on the parchment, mostly on the John Alvin artwork. There is an audio cassette of the soundtrack from Asia which uses the logo with the illumination without the parchment. The logo is illegible. Personnally, I don't like it. It sometimes appear only with a parchment border too on some video games ads.

Jim mixed these two logos in a balanced way. Taking the shape of the typography from one to adjust it to the size of the other.

Now, I don't know exactly where Jim Titus got his inspiration, but as a collector interested in all aspects of the film, I think it's part of a continuity that's not too far away from what's already been tried and done. It's elegant and I love the logo update. I have more trouble with the visual used for the Mondo vinyl. Although I love the colors and the intention, I find the artwork too much different from the aesthetics of the film to please me.
