  1. I'll bet twenty bucks he never saw Jaws. Why would he? Afterall, it's not a very "kid" friendly movie. LOL
  2. It's actually between Chewie and R-2. C3PO, as his typical self is only adding commentary.
  3. Just for the record, the fanboy comment was aimed at the "Lucas started the saga the way he wanted" line. I didn't mean that as an insult towards you. We all know these are his movies and he can do with them as he wishes and if we don't like them, then we don't have to see them. I also think that looking up fact files or using the database is not something the moviegoer should have to do to make what they have seen make sense and bring continuity. That exposition should show up on screen. Backstory is one thing, but using the aforementioned is another.
  4. I don't get all the Minority Report trashing... it really isn't that bad.
  5. No kidding. Anytime I'm perusing at Barnes and Noble I wonder who in their right mind would pay those ridiculous prices.
  6. My comment you responded to was simply sarcastic humor. That's a fanboy answer if I ever heard one. The point is, he could have constructed the creation of the Empire in a much more interesting way other then through boycotts and taxation. I can't tell you how many people I know that are moderate Star Wars fans at best have pointed this out to me. Wrong. As Mr Breathmask pointed out above, Luke was 19. The fact is that Lucas took the easy way out with Anakin's character. Instead of trying to create depth through story and dialogue , we are simply introduced to an innocent nine year old boy. Anakin should have been around the same age (maybe a year or two younger) as Luke for Episode I. It's almost comical to hear Yoda and the others telling Qui Gon they won't instruct him because he's too old at 9?? Another plot point that is meant to create tension, but fails miserably. So let me get this straight... he's the only human who can race a pod, yet you buy the fact that it's consistent that he accidentally blows up the droid control ship? Yes Anakin is a boy, but he is supposed to be the Chosen one as well.
  7. If Williams is smart, and I know he is, then he will steer clear of this project. Orson who is surprised Neil hasn't said, already being discussed here.
  8. No offense, but you're not telling us anything we didn't already know. The problem is that Lucas started off the saga on a wrong note period. He gained a young audience from Jar Jar and his antics along with a yippee yelling nine year old who did accidentally blow up the driod control ship. In that process he lost a huge amount of his adult audience that could have cared less about the taxation of trade routes. Does it all work out in the end? Sure, it's just not at all an interesting plot device.
  9. How did you know I was planning this? She was auditioning for the part of Susan's granddaughter, Gretchen, who visits Xanadu with her lesbian friend Stacy in search of Rosebud.
  10. That's damn curious considering she ordered steak for dinner with me last night in New York.
  11. That's the first site I visit every morning to get my latest movie news.
  12. Sorry we aren't entertaining enough to keep you awake... we'll try harder next time.
  13. And this brings up one of the biggest problems I had with The Phantom Menace. If I give the benefit of the doubt and buy into the boycott, the sense of urgency was still due to the people from Naboo "suffering and dying". Now I know that Lucas had lost some of his touch considering he hadn't directed a movie in over twenty years, but it is beyond me that he did not include at least one scene to show this. The tension created of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan stuck on Tatooine is really the phantom menace because the audience has absolutely no connection to an aspect of the story that is really the crux of the film itself. As Neil posted above, so what if the trade routes were down permanently? Does that mean that the Queen and her people will have to live on just chicken until further notice?
  14. You write 2+ hours of music in 2 weeks and see if you have time to create track titles. Neil If he couldn't do it, then he should have asked Jackson to help. It is a lack of creativity at it's most basic level. Shore would have never let that happen!
  15. Gods and Monsters Finally got around to seeing this one. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but thought it could have been much better. The film left me wanting to see more of his past rather than the present considering it seemed at times as if Condon was almost making a mockery of the man. I liked the flashbacks, but thought they were way too short and scattered. On the brighter side, McKellan of course was fantastic and I found yet another movie of Branden Fraser's that I can handle.
  16. All I can say is, wow! I agree... it's one of the best trailers to come out in a long time. Hearing Brando was something I never would have expected, but what a pleasant surprise. And the music selected was absolutely perfect. Can't wait for next summer!
  17. Might be a cheesy pick, but I love Christmas Star. A very close second to Exsultate Justi.
  18. I would say it isn't fair to judge the score purely based on just those songs. There is a lot of scored music that is very good. I think the way they have the tracks set was a big mistake... the Main Titles should not be the sixth selection. Having said that, I actually enjoy some of those songs. Wonka's Theme Song cracks me up everytime and is a lot of fun. Augustus Gloop is pretty cool, but I really like the Beatlesque Veruca Salt.
