  1. That was another great conversation from more of a fan perspective and having nice insights to the music and discussions on the music's relation to the film. I loved those personal stories relating to the first experiences with this music and how affecting it was back in 1991. Also just having JW fans geeking out on the magnificent music was great to hear. Very much a shared sentiment guys!:D

Fortunately people like Leigh Phillips can reconstruct scores entirely by ear listening to the mixed film audio when necessary (see: The Salamander).

Shame that the original scores were destroyed but a reconstructed re-recording would be fantastic. I think e.g. the re-recording of Nino Rota's Romeo and Juliet and Goldsmith's QBVII and The Salamander are great examples of this.

Music box and other retailers should have made their orders when it was available… so, yes i suppose they should get some copies…

Yeah and it usually takes about 2 weeks or more for MBR to get their stock. So I expect they'll start sending their orders out soon-ish. I remember that last year I received my copy of Amistad ordered from MBR just before Christmas.

I am watching the film with the track on. The prologue just ended. The film must have been cut to all this old music because it fits too perfectly. I'm no expert on any of this, obviously, but it feel like it would have been easier to write all new music rather than find bits and bobs from old scores and make them fit after the fact. Whether Williams did it himself or delegated the job to Ross, they were probably just copying the temp verbatim with a few new thematic additions where appropriate. For what it is, it works really exceptionally well. Dramatically, that is.

For anyone with more than passing knowledge of these scores it still sounds extremely disjointed and bitty, a bit of cue from here and a bit from there. In the film the sound effects, dialogue etc. might hide some of it but on its own the cues cobbled together (whoever did it) sounds like a pretty awful mishmash. I would have taken original music interpolating some of the older Indy themes over this any day.

That means Hook. Their order from LLL was made when it was available to purchase at LLL, so they have to wait around a week or even 15 days to receive their stock. I receive that message when i preorder items from them.

Yeah it is their customary e-mail with these pre-orders. LLL releases usually arrive to the Music Box Records in about two weeks after they become available at the LLL store, sometimes it even takes longer. I might receive my copy of Hook (along with the new Mask of Zorro and Sneakers releases) just before Christmas if I am lucky.

How many people will listen to Disc 3 first and then the new main program second, as opposed to listening to all 3 discs in order?

I think I am going to listen to the whole set from start to finish. Hearing the complete score in full for the first time will be glorious! I am certain disc 3 will be a fascinating collection of materials, songs, alternates and source music, but the actual film score in chronological order is certainly a priority for me.

And I'm surprised nobody has commented that there is a track called "Smee's Concertina Medley" and pondered what that could be!

I assumed this was some kind of pre-recorded medley of music of Smee playing his concertina, which wasn't ultimately used in the film as he doesn't play one in the movie. Or some such.

So much new material on this set to explore. :)
