  1. According to the latest poster, Andrea Datzman is scoring Inside Out 2! This is her first score for a feature film, right? That’s neat! I’m looking forward to hearing it!
  2. I had considered that the other day, and it would make sense with the size of the orchestra, but I wasn’t sure if Travelogue Vol. 2 would count as a “very different” kind of project… unless he was referring to the vibe/style being very different from Vol. 1’s, maybe? He mentioned Vol. 2 in a podcast interview a few months ago, but I don’t remember exactly what he said about it. I’ll see if I can find the interview. EDIT: This is something new, not Travelogue Vol. 2. This is from his interview on WMMR’s Preston & Steve Show on September 12, 2022:
  3. New post: Wow, three days of recording is probably more than just a theme, right? Yeah, I saw that the other day, hence the “had hoped”. Probably could’ve made that clearer, though.
  4. I considered that, or maybe a theme for the Penguin for the show that’s about to start shooting, but that didn’t seem “very different” enough… Side note: I’m really hoping Giacchino does write a theme for the Penguin and someone from his team (Nami Melumad, Curtis Green, Mick, etc.) scores the series, since I doubt Michael would score the whole thing himself. (I had also hoped that a similar arrangement would happen with Secret Invasion, given Michael’s history with Thomas Bezucha… One can dream haha)
  5. Maria Giacchino, Michael’s sister, posted a photo of Giacchino and Curtis Green in the booth at the Eastwood Scoring Stage. Michael then shared it on his Instagram story with the caption: This is a wild guess and almost certainly not what this is, but I think it would be neat if he wrote an epic score for his “Time Sleeper” film that he made with his friends in 1983 (with a score by Williams, Goldsmith, and Horner lol). He posted about “Time Sleeper” in November…maybe it was a hint haha (or maybe it was because the short was mentioned in the “Director by Night” doc… who knows? )
  6. Giacchino is recording something today! I wonder if it’s anything we could guess or if it’s something out of the blue… I hope we find out soon!
  7. Michael Giacchino To Make Feature Directorial Debut With Fresh Take On ‘Them!’ At Warner Bros Cool! I'm excited to hear (and see) what he comes up with! Given all the turmoil at Warner Bros. Discovery lately, I hope this actually happens!
  8. Huh, I don’t think I caught that either! Can you share any examples/time stamps, please?
  9. Looks like that cue is going to be added to the album!
  10. Yes, that was my first time learning that, too! I really liked the trailer music (maybe except for the big trailer-ized swell around 13 seconds in). Kinda surprised someone hadn’t noticed the theme sooner.
  11. During the Direct they revealed that Brian Tyler is doing the score…
  12. Has anyone seen any info on a soundtrack for this yet? I was hoping it would release alongside the special tomorrow, but I haven’t found anything so far.
  13. I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone discuss this yet: A Tour of the Tolkien Lore in the Rings of Power Score Any guesses on where we might have heard McCreary’s One Ring theme so far? I thought “Where the Shadows Lie” might’ve been a theme for the One Ring as well as the Rings of Power, but the “doesn’t have its own track” comment rules that out, I guess.
  14. Wow. Am I the only one who kinda wishes that his longer tracks were broken up into smaller tracks? To me at least, listening to 10 two-minute tracks seems more approachable than one 20-minute track. It’s the same amount of music either way, but I feel like it’s easier to revisit your favorite parts when they’re not buried in one massive track.
  15. Since Thomas Bezucha is one of the co-directors and Giacchino scored Bezucha’s last three films, I’ve been hoping for Giacchino (or Giacchino writing the themes and Nami Melumad writing the score)… even though Giacchino denied his involvement with the show last year: One can dream!
  16. It sounds like this is something he’s planning to address in an upcoming blog:
  17. When I first heard the Valinor theme, the first three notes in particular immediately reminded me of a theme I'd heard before. It drove me nuts for a few days, but I finally placed the theme Saturday morning: At 0:09, for example (there's a bigger rendition starting at 3:50): Compared to the first three notes of the Valinor theme (0:30, for example, or 1:32 for a bigger rendition): Maybe they aren't as similar as I thought they were... but at least for me, for the first few days of listening, whenever the Valinor theme played, my brain kept wanting it to continue with Jason's theme (which I hadn't heard in years) haha.
  18. I know, hence my second sentence. I should have been clearer — since Bear seemed to refer to all 7 hours of score as “currently unreleased”, I was just wondering if that meant we would have the complete score by the end of the season (i.e., once all the episode albums are out) or if there would still be some score missing (like how the individual episode albums for season one of The Mandalorian still didn’t have everything). That’s all.
  19. Bear just posted a Twitter thread about his past scores and mentioned there are about 7 hours of currently unreleased score from TRoP. I wonder if the “currently unreleased” implies that it’ll be “eventually released”… I’m curious to see how much of those 7 hours gets released by the end of the season.
  20. Ah, I hadn’t seen the runtime. 2.5 hours of music is nice, but across roughly 8 hours of episodes, that’s probably still quite a ways from “complete”, which I guess was my point: After investing so much in the show, I’m just surprised Amazon wouldn’t milk this for all they can. I’ve had the same thought! An interesting move on their part…
  21. Given the size of this production and how important the music is to the films, I’m surprised Amazon seems to be doing only one soundtrack release for the whole season rather than separate albums for each episode. I was hopeful that this would get multiple albums, considering The Wheel of Time (a fellow Amazon show) got four. Keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll get more later!
  22. Ha, the video got taken down during my 5th listen — it went black halfway through. I’ve never seen that happen before Did anyone else get a Rivendell vibe from the opening arpeggio of Shore’s theme? I loved it, but every time I heard it, my brain was expecting the rest of the Rivendell theme haha
