My wife is going to buy this for me when it comes out. We'll listen to it nonstop for a few days, laugh at how the Prologue still plays at the wrong speed and she'll say, "The members of that old JWFan forum would have loved this release."

I'll turn toward her my voice filled with sadness and reply "I know, but they're all dead."

If anything, Mondo releasing Matessino’s complete rebuild of the OST is strong evidence that Hook IS coming.

I believe this is because the Batman cameo was a very last minute addition to the film.

Gotta be honest, they're hardly the package highlight for me. I appreciate the work and research that goes into them but at most they're a one-time curiosity for me.

I think that if they went into more detail on alternates and bonus tracks and exactly what was different about them (and perhaps what editorial/creative changes made them necessary), I'd be more interested, but they usually don't.

Not exactly. It’s more like a quarter hour of previously unreleased score (including a few short cues which weren’t used in the film and therefore weren’t on the DVD isolated score track!), plus a couple of choral source cues.

Three cues are presented twice, as film versions and original album versions, accounting for the extra time. But it’s hard to tell the difference IMO (probably just ever so slightly different takes), apart from “The Key” having an added 22 second cue in front of it for the main film program.

Still a great and worthwhile expansion of a very important Goldsmith score!

Oh and for anyone who cares, here's the cover I've been using for the bootleg. I don't remember who made it, but it was probably someone on FSM or Squid-board.

When it comes to Powell, The Bourne Supremacy was my first love. I've played Sonic's deluxe editions of that one and Ultimatum to death. I absolutely love those scores. I feel the same way about Kung Fu Panda, Dragons, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Solo and Paycheck (which I only discovered thanks to the Deluxe Edition!).

Given that selection, I guess I gravitate more towards Powell's action writing than anything and as such, there are several scores/albums of his that I rarely play in their entirety, even if they contain cues that I absolutely love. I'm not overly familiar with The Call of the Wild for instance, but "Buck Takes the Lead" almost immediately became one of my favorite cues of all time.

It is not an official album press release, but a friend of mine that is going to the RUDY LTP concert in Indianapolis tomorrow got this email today from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

This is the link to that CD from Varese's website, but it is not ready yet.

    Stay tuned!

Edit: Here is the album cover that appears in the said orchestra's Facebook page.

Description of album content from that Facebook post: "This Deluxe Edition expands the sequence to 67 minutes and features new liner notes by Tim Greiving, who interviewed the real-life Rudy Ruettiger, writer Angelo Pizzo, director David Anspaugh and actor Sean Astin, as well as Get Out composer Michael Abels, who worked at the sessions. Archival comments by Goldsmith and contractor JoAnn Kane are also included."

I took the shrinkwrap off my copy this morning and am listening now.  Holy hell what a goddamn great score this is, I love it!!

...But man, I can't get behind integrating "The Newlyns" into the score program where they are.  Just completely stops everything dead in its tracks for 5 minutes after the perfect 10 minute opener, then the score finally resumes.  Not a fan of having the Willow's Theme track in the middle either, especially since its just an edit of the end credits music.

But other than those minor issues, what a great, great, great release this is!  I'm loving the entire score here, every single track.

Will finally dig into the liner notes later!
