  1. well yes, i knew that. just didn't know if one could pre order or not. thats all
  2. Is this sold out or not listed yet? I looked on LLL to pre order this. and all i can find is the listing for the first album that is sold out. THere isn't a listing for the upcoming release
  3. The first minute and a half has been in my head for two weeks. WIsh i could transcribe the theme the horns/ flute ? plays
  4. I noticed Little Mermaid this year, and Pocahontas next year. Not bad.... coming from an Alan Menken fan .... though I was hoping for a full version of Hunchback of Notre Dame. Guess DIsney really IS trying to forget about the movie
  5. I guess i'm in the minority here. I never listened to the bootlegs over the years, so this release was like a huge christmas present. lol. Can't speak for others of course, but I prefer the sound of this album over the OST. Plus, the score as a whole really lost something the way it was put together on the OST, sounds better when as much as possible is presented on disc.
  6. a note on that. i said that to my piano teacher once..... comparing Across the stars to star wars main theme. and he disagreed with me. He said it was more closely related to May THe Force be with you.
  7. agreed about the build up to the batman theme in RETURNS. I would like to see SLeepy Hollow in print. The only treatment that ever got was a marching band arrangement. I've seen it. When you replace violins with saxaphones, sleepy hollow loses something
  8. The same company that published Edward Scissorhands has now published BATMAN http://www.omnimusicpublishing.com/ should be the first item listed
  9. not exactly a composer but if we could throw songwriter in the mix,, Elton John..... david hyde pierce alan Menken...... John Heard ( granted, change the hair style, but I can see it)
  10. Jurassic Park: Journey to the Island Welcome to Jurassic Park Dennis Steals the Embryo ( probably not something most people would recommend, but an interesting track)
  11. sounds like Raider's March if Danny Elfman wrote it. ( minor key)
  12. DUel of the Fates music video ( ok its not the official video, still not bad though )
  13. Wasn't it used in Bicentennial Man? Undoubtedly there are moments of self-reference in Williams' work as there is in any artist's work. It is very difficult to pinpoint the reasons for it though as there can be numerous factors in why a composer repeats something he has done before. Temp tracks, hectic work schedule with multiple scores that might even have similar subject matter, some connection in the composer's mind with similar concepts, a favourite musical device or idea that keeps popping up in the composer's writing just because he likes it etc. Listen to Bicentennial Man, then listen to A Beautiful Mind. Strikingly similar.
  14. I can't find a photo or clip of it.. But Paul Williams was in Princess Diaries 2. I only have to ask one question.............. whhhhhhhhhy?
  15. I don't know why, but I cracked up at that. I just picture John scoring the scene in Home Alone where Kevin sleds down the staircase JW " hmm. don't know what to write here.... hmm. let me try something ( walks over to piano. writes down BOOM TZZZ.. Plays it back against the film) *awkward silence* JW. Perfect. Next scene
  16. I saw an article a few years back that gave a fairly detailed procedure on how williams works..... talk about time consuming.. I don't know how he does it
  17. Speaking of PAUL... I like how he introduces the song. .. aww
  18. Interesting review of DIAMONDS. John Barry's BOND scores are legendary. I think I found his work more interesting than the scores to the newer films, but thats just me. OFF topic a bit but if anyone ever comes across Michael Caine's book " what's it all about?" He has an interesting story in there about being the first person to hear Barry's GOLDFINGER song.
