Yeah, I remember my parent's 30th anniversary party. You know, how people were coming up to them and telling them they would have preferred they married different people, and how there are other couples whose anniversary they would rather celebrate. Great memories, great party.
Brilliant. Williams won something and those two morons just don't like it. Here in the JWfan. "It's not the best by JW and Ludvig one is so much better".
They are very serious to tell us they don't like DOD or any other JW's newer output. BUT WE DON'T CARE!!!

I would take this one gladly.
All the best IJ scores are by studio orchestras.

How dissapointing that so many 'regular' fans tend to dismiss Williams' later work. His current musical styles is far more understated than before but I think it has a lot more going on emotionally. But this is very hard to express to the layman who desires so-called memorable themes. (If Rey's theme isn't memorable, I don't know what is.)
Now I'm happy with this post. I have tried to hang out here (yes so difficult) as long as JW's last score to be released, now I'm done, couldn't be more better score.

Why would anyone compare the animated film score to Indiana Jones score. So different approach and they are both so brilliant. Negative vibe for DOD and back then Tintin got also very bad comments of course, classic JWfan.com. Weird place.

I assumed Bill would be involved, even before I saw the film. He was involved with all three SW sequel scores, Galaxy's Edge, and Obi-Wan. But no, I don't remember hearing anything about whether he was involved in DoD beforehand.
I also see nothing wrong with JW trusting a talented and experienced collaborator to help him execute his musical vision. I was just disappointed that reused material supplanted so much of the new material I was hoping for.
Ok. I totally disagree.
I enjoyed the reused material, it was fun to notice those in theatre and the soundtrack still had its own voice.

Saw the film yesterday.
I'm one of those weirdos who avoided anything score-related prior to seeing the film. I knew Helena had a theme but I hadn't listened to it. I steered clear of all discussions about the film and score. So I was going in with very few preconceived notions.
Maybe it would have been better if I hadn't done that. Because it didn't take long for me to realize this was another COS, and it hurt my enjoyment of the film. One direct quote after another, strung together (very competently) by Williams and/or Ross.
If I hadn't heard any of the previous scores, I probably would be hailing this one as a triumph. It's all great stuff! But as things are, I was distracted and disappointed by each lifted passage. I hoped that they'd stop after the prologue, but they merely became a little less frequent.
I know how this is gonna go. As the years pass, I'll get used to these new configurations of the old writing, and I'll come to enjoy this score well enough as its own thing. That's what happened with COS. But in the meantime … damn, what a letdown.
(Disclaimer: I fully realize that JW is in his 90s. I don't know how he continues to do as much as he does. Not holding anything against him, or anyone else.)
Even if you didn't listened to it before I'm sure you knew Ross' involvement beforehand and I do not buy that you heard it. Besserwisser stuff.

Oh thank you for defending. You are a good person. I was seriously worried.

I'm so worried about the fact that this might be Williams' last score!!! What would all those fuckface negative 'fans' do with their lives?! Seriously.
From HP I have read so many comments about how JW has lost it, too old, cannot write memorable themes etc.. Almost a race, who will be the first to bash a new score. Get a life, start to listen to Trump's speeches or to analyse Hansu's scores. Or start to drink like me.

I voted for 5 stars. The brilliant music with the movie, never listened the album through, not very interesting and quite a bad sound quality. The main title is very effective(three notes btw) but in the concerts it is very awkward, like ha haa haa. Out To Sea is amazing in the concert hall.

Do we have any reason to think that the piano part in the 1977 recording is any different?
Nope.
I want my 8:13 back. The most pointless study ever.
Edit: I couldn't make it through but my post is more dramatic this way

TLJ is the best film(and music) of all sequels and prequels. Fits the last comments and the title of this thread.

I'm still bummed I missed this performance a few months ago just an hour from where I live, but thankfully they put it online:
Was just about to post that performance. I liked it. That conductor just leaded us last week.

@Joni Wiljami can you say, what choir or choirs will be performing in the 1st of April concert?
I'm not sure but last time it was the 90-piece choir of Vaskivuori high school. Probably them and they were good. 😎

Oh! I must listen to The Village because it is so much better Autumnal score. Thank you. So many good scores not by JW that I almost cry, so emotional.
