  1. I haven't mixed my own disk, but am just loving the music. I was pretty disappointed with the OST, in that it was missing so much good music. i found myself constantly saying, "wait, where's this piece of music, or where's that piece of music"....."i can't find the music that plays during the escape from area 51", etc. What a treasure to now have it. Really happy with it.
  2. There's actually a Prague Symphony recording of it as well, which is interesting because it is treated more like a concert piece with more dynamics and adjustments in tempo. It could easily be a great modern piece of symphonic music on it's own. Nice, please let us know if you hear anything, i would love to hear it.
  3. Very true, would love to see any of these! Thanks for your great work!
  4. Great review Smeltington. Re: Indy's first Adventure. I'm really into that piece right now, it's just amazing, and has always been one of my personal favs. I read somewhere there is something like 50 'hits' that sync with stuff happening on screen. He's done it a few times, where they show the scene with no music, and then with music. i guess it's a good example of just how much JW's music adds. What a treat you got to see/hear it. I'm also really enjoying "The advneture continues" from TinTin. How cool you got to see both, very jealous.
  5. This was more what I was thinking with my question regarding unreleased and unclean ques from ToD. I would be interested to see a list of what tracks would only be available if session recordings, or some other source was found. Meaning the track is not available on CD (Concord, OST), and rips contain sound effects. For example I'm not aware of any version of 3m2 The Child Returns or 9m2 Willie In The Fryer that doesn't contain any sfx. This would be a quick way to check if any new found recordings are real.
  6. Great clips. So fun to see new SS and JW stuff, thanks for sharing! I might have missed it if it weren't for this forum. The score seems to be growing on me. The simple piano melodies, sound great! They remind me of Copland and the Shaker Melody from Appalachian Spring.
  7. What remains of ToD that's unreleased, and unclean?
  8. It wasn't just a DVD rip.... There's also the lego game(s) which had some content, but I believe mostly contained sfx also. I'm always on the hunt, if anyone knows of unreleased ToD cues without sfx PM me please. My slave children aren't digging fast enough.
  9. Awesome thanks, even a video to go with it! I was curious what scene it was, and what ended up the final music. You can see JW was talking about ET looking up twice, and changing to 'the call' on the second time he looks up. Very interesting.
  10. Are those on ebay? Shoot, i might buy it myself. My favorite score! Only thing is I already have a pretty complete version, but some of the unreleased stuff i have, eg. the rope bridge (35) has some sfx. Do we know if this does not contain sfx on stuff like The rope bridge, the end credits (where the raiders theme A is mixed with short rounds theme), etc.? Thanks! Very interested, -Russ
  11. Hey! i must have missed something too, PM please or something? Thanks! Wait, what?? Did I miss something? Ditto ! -- updated --- Never mind, got it, what a treat!
  12. I'm not in the business or anything, but I would tend to agree with karelm that film session players would be the absolute best technically and at sight reading. Think about the cost, just the rental of the studio, the musicians, all the staff, etc. I would imagine every mistake, even if it's only 1 minute to stop and restart the cue, could cost thousands of dollars.
  13. Very nice little article. I like Spielberg's praise, "this nation's greatest composer and our national treasure...Without question, John Wiiliams has been the single most significant contributor to my success". Reminds me that JW is so much more than just a great film composer. Sorry off topic slightly, i looked at that AFI top 15 film scores, and I can't believe raiders (or better yet, (although i'm sure i'm in the minority ToD)) score isn't on there! Blasphemy!
  14. Thanks for posting, I always love these fly on the wall style footage like this. Really a rare treat to see two masters at work. I saw this one too, and also a very good rare treat.
  15. That is really funny. The music so dramatic, and words like Panda, Cola, Corn Dog, man, i was busting up, thanks for sharing!
  16. This is a cool video, sorry off topic, but thanks for posting. I don't have the blu ray yet, and i believe this shows some shots of the deleted scenes on the blu ray, which i'm dying to see (at around 1:02). Also shows some nice behind the scenes footage from LC, thanks!
  17. Thanks for the note scallenger, very detailed! I really wish there were more advertising for these things, (including the Indy IMAX and marathon). Just a couple trailers during prim time TV would have probably doubled the ticket sales. sigh.
  18. Man, that would be sweet!!! Unfortunately I haven't read or seen anything to imply that, but hey who knows. Would sure love it! There does seem to be significant behind the scenes footage of Raiders, including 2 minutes of deleted scenes / bloopers from ToD and LC. My hunch is that's the extent of rare/unseen footage. Oh well. maybe in a couple years in the "ultimate", "Extreme", complete Indy Collection.
  19. That is a great rendition of the theme. My favorite comes in "Short Round's Escape" [media=] )at 2:06.
  20. That's what I thought at first. That's what I thought too. Actually I wish interviewers would ask actors, and other people associated with films scored by JW, what they thought of the score, especially younger actors who might not even pay attention (maybe they do, i have no idea). But i would love for someone to ask Emma what she thought of the score, or Harrison Ford what he thought, etc. And yes, JW is from another world. He's got the second most nominations of academy awards ever (second only to Walt Disney), and i think this sums up his career. I don't think many people really realize just how impact-full he's been to the movie business...I woudl agree with the academy...second only to Walt Disney.
  21. Love all of E.T & Elliott's comments. ToD the film has always been my favorite (not by much though), and the score is out of this world, Slave Children Crusade has been my favorite piece of music for as long as i can remember. I think the scene where Indy says, "right....all of us" cut to slaves with the crusade march starting, with the theme coming in when we see Indy standing in front of the tracks....I think my favorite sequence of all the movies. So many good things about the score I can't get into them all. Glad that ToD seems to be getting some love from the Marathon, I've heard from other screenings that a lot of people enjoyed it.
  22. I figured it wouldn't be, but this site indicates (although unclearly) that that scene was deleted for UK release, and therefore would be included. I didn't believe it, but was really hoping i was wrong.
  23. Does it have the scene where short round burns the guard and realizes that burning them breaks the spell? Its a deleted scene, but I read it was going to be included in the UK version. Don't believe it, but curious.
  24. So far, I've heard just of additional Cairo swordsman deleted scenes, and scenes where Indy and Sallah get water for the Nazis. But as pointed out in the article in EW, there could be much more. I'm still hopeful for more, although it does sound like it will just be Raiders sadly.
