Warners is no longer licencing to any of the labels. So no Perfect Storm or The Hand (or Pelican Brief for that matter).

Perfect Storm = Warner, so no.

Great that we are getting more Horner.

At this point I think at best we can hope that it will be a Christmas present.

As far as my preferences go, I'm not a fan of pure 'instrumental' jazz, where each instrumentalist typically performs a solo (followed by applause from the audience, often to feign enjoyment hehe).

I lean more towards 'vocal jazz' instead, or everything with a latin flavour.

Improvisation is probably the primary reason I enjoy jazz (or certain types thereof).

The first part of that statement is factually incorrect. Obviously, the actual indigenous population of the US  has/had many forms and styles of music, and while the Blues, from which Jazz in part developed, came from a multitude of sources, it more or less originated in the Southern US. Jazz is America’s one unique gift to the world of art music. That part is correct.

I’ll direct you to the very explanation I was given in Jazz pedagogy in college, by my very knowledgeable and talented professor of Jazz studies. It doesn’t need all of these to be Jazz, but more than not. Improvisation is probably the most important element.

You need to bug every room in your house 24/7.

You'll likely need more than a few lessons to make significant progress. First one has to learn the technique, then one has to learn to apply it in different pieces.

There's a popular quote: "If you have to ask what jazz is, you'll never know".
Everything that you and @Bespin said is correct. It is, however, much more than that. Jazz is modern America's only indigenous music form (and, probably, its only indigenous art form), and, as such, it has needed to forge and maintain its own identity. You could listen to every jazz recording there is, and still be none the wiser, but you'd pick up on the various forms of jazz, and you'd form your own opinions.
What is jazz? Jazz is, above all else, a feeling. You'll never understand it with your brain, but you will recognise it with, and love it with, your heart.

Thanks @Jurassic Shark, that's good advice. My sister-in-law is an accomplished muzo and a brilliant pianist, if I needed help I 'm sure she'd be willing to help me out with a few lessons.

@JTWfan77 Another advice from someone who failed a lot with his instrument. If you really wanna learn sight reading and improve your technique, you should probably practice with easier pieces. Just etudes or something like that. It’s not that exciting, but you can better work on such technical things.

Jazz music is really diverse! it covers a wide range of styles like Traditional Jazz, Swing, Bebop, Cool Jazz, Hard Bop, Modal Jazz, Free Jazz, Fusion, Vocal Jazz, Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban Jazz, Bossa Nova, Gypsy Jazz, Soul Jazz, Jazz Funk, Smooth Jazz, Acid Jazz, Nu Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Experimental Jazz, Avant-Garde Jazz, and more. It's a vast musical world with so many different sounds and influences, making it a truly expansive genre.

    My thoughts:

Let's be honest, nothing is going to be as great as the first film, but this was such a fun time.

Instead of breaking out, this time the chickens have to break in and it's just as much fun. Seeing clay chickens with backpacks and their own self made weapons is something I will always enjoy🤣.
The animation is truly gorgeous and the mix between the clay and the 3D and a little bit of 2D animation works for every single second the film plays. There is so much detail, especially on wideshots of scenery and locations.

I was afraid that the new voice cast was gonna be a problem and distracting, but it wasn't that at all. Thandiwe Newton & Zachary Levi both do a really great job and add voice acting to the list of things Bella Ramsey is amazing at. Hearing Miranda Richardson in the villain role again was so great and her character is even more nuts than in the first film.

There are some underlying and pretty dark moments about the meat industry in general. There is an "add" in the film which is both hilarious and pretty dark that I'm surprised they got away with it.

Yes, it's not as good as the first, but it's better than a lot of live action films I've seen this year. And I just had so much fun! Sometimes that all I need and a film needs. Truly hope Aardman is back for more, because I love their films.

If you're practicing your instrument without making progress, I recommend getting a tutor to improve your technique.

I didn't know where to put this. It's not rock, pop, jazz, classical, film music. But basically gospel with a twist. So I suppose jazz is the closest. It's still a fantastic album from 1962, with beautiful arrangements by (presumably) Williams, who also conducts. Jackson's voice is big and wide, but never so elaborate that it gets in the way of the melody. But everytime I hear Tiomkin's eternal "The Green Leaves of Summer", I'm reminded of a cue I "composed" on the piano as a kid, that is VERY similar (I had not heard "Green Leaves" at the time, so I guess it speaks to the simplicity of the tune).

There is a good way out of this. At least for some time you should try to go more into the direction of improvisation. For an easy start you could use some blues patterns. If the notes refuse to be read by you, ignore them and do your own thing. Just a suggestion.

Don't be so hard to yourself. Reading music and sight-reading are two different leagues. Especially, if you're playing an instrument that requires sorting out fingering, there's a large gap between reading and sight-reading. You can still be a good instrumentalists without being able to sight-read.

This is sad to read because I think there are some who believe that because you have trouble reading music, anything you would produce is going to be inferior to those who can because you can't do it 'properly'. And I'm passionately against that view - as I touched upon previously if someone has some great melodies, ideas for textures, action sequences, etc, but doesn't have a clue what that translates to in musical terms.... I couldn't give less of a shit if they are still able to somehow get their thoughts down. Talents come in so many forms.
