  1. Sorry for my bad english, what I meant is that we have Hogwarts Forever and Fluffy in the OST. I have the Nimbus 2000 on the Silva CD, ang Good Musician (thanks!) uploaded Family Portrait, so we have those 4, but only 2 are on the OST. BTW a rar file is like a zip file, you need a program called WinRar to unzip it
  2. The choirless Double Trouble is great although my favorite version is still the one on mischief managed. Anyway, these tracks make think that the Silva Potter CD, while nice, is a missed opportunity, they should have recorded some of this stuff, along with the other movements of the PS suite to make a great Williams Potter trilogy CD instead of the GOF tracks which are identical to the origianl score. BTW, we have Family Portrait, Nimbus 2000, and Hogwarts Forever and Fluffy in the OST, so what other movements are we missing, I know there's one called The Philosopher Stone, Erich Kunzel played that one here in Mexico, I think there's another one called Quidditch, are there any others??
  3. It's not just the film industry, for example, some Beatles tapes were erased and are lost forever.
  4. Luthor has changed a lot as a character in the comics since his apperance in the 78 movie and I guess the evil-comical theme doesn't fit him anymore, so it's probably a good decision to have a new theme for him. Although I quite like the March of the Villians and it could probably be modified to sound less comical.
  5. Well, I can't comment on the science fiction album, but as far as the The City of the Prague Philharmonic is concerned I do have the new Potter compilation and the JW 40 years of music compilation and I like them both. The Potter one is pretty good I think and the 40 yeasr of film music is ok, I got it mainly cause it has a lot of stuff from scores I don't have and that are hard to get. I agree that some performances are not specially good, but others are really well played, most of their recordings seem have a "live" feeling to my ears, which some may not like. I have to say that Williams's music seems very hard to play, even some of the Boston Pops recordings don't sound too good to me (adventures on earth for example) so I think the Prague Philharmonic does a nice effort.
  6. Well, it won't be sent for another two months, so hopefully maybe amazon will get a different batch without any problems. This whole thing sucks though. This is the second release of a CD I'm interested to buy with possible production porblems in the same week (the other being The Beatles Capitol Albums Vol.2, not that any of you will care). Why can't there be defective James Blunt CDs instead?
  7. I recently got: Poltergeist Willow Rocketeer Star Tracks 2 Music from the Harry Potter Films I'm also waiting for Ghostbusters and Home Alone 2 to arrive from the Varese store.
  8. There are also some variations (not many though) of the chamber theme in COS that should have been released in the album instead of "Cornish Pixies"
  9. The only strange thing about it is that is mostly scored with Leia's theme and not the Force-Ben's theme. But I wouldn't call it happy music, in fact it's a very dramatic variation of Leia's theme, and in my opinion it works great in the movie as I've always felt Williams also considered Leia's theme as an "Old Republic theme" to a certain point, so the theme is fitting as one of the last knights of the Old Republic is killed. I have to say I didn't expect anyone to mention the OT in this thread though.
  10. Me too, although Raiders had already been released when I was born, so he was probably doing nothing, maybe beginning to think about E.T. And to think I've never heard a single note of Heartbeeps, oh well.
  11. Well that just proves my point that is very difficult to agree in what every theme is for, especially with Hook since it has like 349 themes and motifs. Just from the top of my head it has: the "the prologue theme", flying theme, neverland (also granny wendy?), tinkerbell, "when you're alone", hook #1, hook #2, the pirates, the family theme, the mermaids(not sure it's a theme), rufio, the never feast (which is used later in the ultimate war, so it could be a theme for the lost boys), a sort of "memories theme". And I'm probably missing 4 or 5 more
  12. Actually Tinkerball has a full theme, you can hear a very straightforward variation of it in the End Credits, it's also the theme that is played on piano at the begining of "we don't want to grow up" Anyway, about other themes it's going to be tougher, as I don't think everyone agrees, for example some people say Cap. Hook has two themes, others believe he only has one and that the other is actually Smee's theme. There was a great analysis by John Takis (I think) you sould really look for.
  13. Congratulations and best of luck!! Unfortunately it's impossible for me to go, unless you'd like to pay for the plane ticket , but anyway again congratulations.
  14. Unless I misunderstood the topic completely I have to disagree on Aunt Marge's Waltz, while it is indeed a great piece of music I've always felt it doesn't fit the scene at all, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, adding something to the list, I'd say when they rescue Carol Ann in Poltergeist it's a brilliant moment, then again the whole score is terrific.
  15. Like Datameister said this is a good track to learn how to edit, I didn't know either and wasn't happy with my edits and about to drop the proyect all together until I did this track which turned out pretty good. Just leave out the first edit (it's only 2 seconds) and you'll be fine, the other edits are easy except for one which I doubt anyone can make it to sound good (the one between the duel on mustafar and yoda crawling). Good luck!
  16. About the Potter CD, I just got it and while I haven't listen to it completely, what I've heard sounds good although I'm not an expert and I know some people here don't like the Prague Philarmonic Orchestra, some pieces do sound a bit strange but maybe it's because they are the first re-recordings of Potter that I've heard unlike Star Wars for example where I've heard a lot of recordings. Anyway Hedwig's theme and Fawkes I'm pretty sure are the same included in the 40 years of music compilation, so that can give you an idea of how this sound. The obvious highlight is the Nimbus 2000, a great piece which I've only heard live in one of Kunzel's concert, it develops the Nimbus theme quite a bit, and it's a good performance in my opinion, everyone should get this track. The POA suite is also nice. Then there are a quite a few GOF tracks, now I like Doyle's score but it does seem unfair to have so many GOF tracks and only one POA for example. Doyle's tracks seem closer to the originals, so I'm guessing Williams's are harder to perform. Still, I have to it again more carefully.
  17. I'd bet we'll get the prequels before Indy, it's just a matter of time, let's face it we have to be patient it's not even a year since ROTS came out.
  18. I think I found the part you're talking about, is in Battle of Endor I at about 6:15, it does kinda sound like the droid motif although I'm not sure it's intentional, but it's indeed an interesting find Luke.
  19. Yes, ever. But of course that's just my opinion. I feel that if it was going to happen it would have happened already. Lucasfilm is really weird about Indiana Jones, like I said on another thread I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I collect all sorts of stuff from SW, there are a lot of SW products, toys, statues, replicas, you name it. But there's very little IJ merchandise, and I've read there are many companies that really want the IJ license and Lucasfilm simply says no, which I think it's very odd as I think there's a lot of money that could be made from the IJ license. Take the DVD releases of SW and Indy, with SW we got the CD released yet again, but nothing with Indy, not even Raiders which was recorded by the LSO and so it would be as easy to re-release as the SW scores. Which brings another problem TOD and LC were recorded in the US.
  20. I doubt we'll ever see expanded scores of TOD and LC anyway.
  21. I ordered Willow and Rocketeer from amazon although they haven't arrived, both are great, especially Willow and I'm really looking forward to them. I may be the only one but I think Land Before Time is also excellent, I'd love to get it but is OOP and rather expensive.
  22. Nothing mayor, the arrangement is the same with luke's theme, the rebel fanfare, yoda's theme, imperial march and the love theme, but the film version is a bit faster and the transition from yoda's theme to the imperial march seems a bit more abrupt to my ears.
  23. What would you consider an evolved droid motif?? The only part that sounds remotely similar to the droid theme is the music when the droids are heading to Jabba's palace and it doesn't sound too much like the droid theme to my ears. Is there any other cue where you can hear this evolved droid motif?? I've always wondered why Williams sometimes just abandon his themes, I think the droid motif would have worked well in the other movies, for example in TPM when the droids first meet each other, although I kinda hear a similiar orchestration in most scenes involving the droids.
