  1. Fitting the last slots were much more difficult (let's say impossible on a more than a day basis) than anticipated. I thought I would make things easier by adding myself a "one franchise score only" rule but that didn't help. So many to choose from! This minute's list is : 1 - Superman – The Movie 2 - The Empire Strikes Back 3 - Raiders of the Lost Ark 4 - E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial 5 - Schindler’s List 6 - Hook 7 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 8 - Memoirs of a Geisha 9 - Far and Away 10 - The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn Wait, can I change... never mind That said, this was a great experience as I re-listened to tons of masterpieces I hadn't heard in a while ("The Fury" is truly amazing, "Born On The Fourth of July" was so impactfull and emotionnal, I wish I could put in underrepresented gems like "The Terminal" etc. etc.)
  2. Even more than that... as said by Thor when he ordered "I paid a whopping $32 for it (shipping was more than the actual CD, and there was a stupid $7 tax on top of that again)" Adding to that 10 euros, pretty sure that I paid the tax twice But as Marian Schedenig said "Their terms state that they collect tax on domestic orders and no tax on international orders; the package was taxed by the Austrian customs office because it was not declared as already taxed; and Ariel from DME's customer service has confirmed that they are going to refund the incorrectly collected tax (although I'm still waiting for the refund (via PayPal), which is supposed to tax 3 to 7 business days). (Even with the tax refund, I still end up spending more than I should have to, because as far as I remember the Austrian/EU tax was calculated from the total value *including* Disney's incorrect tax)"
  3. I received mine today in France (plays fine, that's all I need), but still had to pay an additional 10 euros to get it. I thought I already paid some tax while ordering it, am I the only one? Anyway, I don't complain, glad to have the CD
  4. And... is that a bad thing? Probably an easy thing to say when you have a copy, but what about the others? Why exactly would someone need MORE than 2 copies of a CD anyway? (except maybe to hmm... resell them?) If you were empty handed because someone had bought 10 copies of this limited edition instead of leaving the others for 8 or 9 more people to enjoy, my guess is that you would not find such an "almost communist policy"(your words) so bad after all. Sorry if I misinterpreted your comment, but I don't see the problem with such limitations.
  5. Man, I can't believe that after decades of collecting JW CDs I am going to miss the last one altogether because I did not preorder it more than a month in advance Frankly, the "Product currently not available" generic message and the "In order for everyone to enjoy the magic, this item is limited to 2 per customer" sentence on the LP page means to me that it was a limited edition and it looks like it's gone (I have seen stuff "currently" unavailable for years and forever on web sites). And the movie dissapointing box office will certainly not help to repress. I did not pay attention and did not go to the Disney site, if I had read the "limited" message on the CD page, I would probably have ordered it without waiting.... Of course, we still have the music but what a dumb way to miss such an historic CD release (my guess is some copies will end up at crazy prices on Ebay...)
  6. That's a good one, would be amazing ! One I was always missing : Tinkerbell's Theme Hook had a five movement suite that does not contain a single apparition of this fantastic theme I believe. I know there is 'the Arrival of Tink' on the OST, but it does not have a proper theme structure (and has Firebird in the middle of it ;-) ) It is really one of Hook geatest melodies, much more deserving of a proper theme than say Irina Spalko (although I like this one and would like it to be released, sure)
  7. Quite agree with this. This is very much in the spirit of the previous movies (and frankly, it's hard to make more "dark and disturbing" than Temple of Doom, isn't it?). Even as far the the photography goes, this was much closer to Douglas Slocombe than the hideous Kaminski stuff from KOTC (don't get me wrong, Kaminsky was great for a tons of Spielberg movies, but just wasn't a good fit for Indy Imho)
  8. Quite enjoyed the movie, that, all in all, is a heartfelt final chapter, and I came much more satisfied than with Kingdom of Crystal Skull, which left me very empty. KOCS had : an annoying sidekick, didn't play the age angle, had a boring McGuffin, an atrocious photography, forced humor (a shocker), some frankly hard to swallow WTF moments, and some ugly fake FXs that made you feel you were not there.. DOD has : a great sidekick (Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the obvious MVP), makes the age of the caracter center stage, has a McGuffin thematically connected, is well lit (save some ugly green screens, more on that later). However, it does not have the playfulness of classic Spielberg (the one he actually still showed in "Tintin" but as said, was largely absent from Indy IV), a few more than exaggerated moments to be sure, and a few less than stellar FX/too much green screen as well (I fully understand this will put completely off some people, you're warned). I thought the introduction worked like gangbusters (save for the de-aging, we are not quite there yet). As for the rest, everything is not perfect for sure - there are some good character bits and some overlooked ones - some bits are really not that credible - I am not talking about the inevitable fantastical elements from an Indy finale, more some "stunts" that are not stunts - a lot of the action feels unreal - again a little like in the previous movie - when Vic Amstrong was performing incredible stuff in the 80s, it felt so "real" and raised so much the stakes - well I guess we still have Tom Cruise (that, yes, is obviously not 80 years old). The last half hour will be divisive, but i thought it was risky and welcome move and absolutely successful with a handful of great moments (despite some ugly green screen work) But , all in all, a movie with a lot of rhythm, care and love. Considering all the ways the movie could have gone south after Spielberg exit, my congrats to Mangold for making a Indy film that feels part of a whole and is not an indecent extra chapter. And the score certainly helped in that regard. I managed to stay away from Helena's theme for over a year, it is a winner - the versions in the movie are much more dynamic than in the wonderful concert version in the End credits. There are obvious motives for the bad guys and the Dial as well, dynamic scoring that propels the movie and yes - a few "quotes" (all of them of the album, which I found rather surprising, actually). I was relieved that the Raiders march wasn't overused (it is notably absent from some map cues), to be there just at the right time and favor new material - a forte of the Indy films. In the movie, the score is very much present, front and center, incredibly dynamic and propelling, carrying all the scenes and mixed pretty high! Let's never forget we are so lucky to have 91 year old Williams having scored this, hard to imagine it any other way. My memory is that there was some good introductory stuff from the themes early in the movie (in NY) that may be missing from the album, but nothing major I would say.
  9. I've got one (I think may be two) sealed copy of the very first Japanese edition CD of "Spacecamp". It was a huge collector item at the time - it was the first CD, a very limited edition, only issued in Japan - so when I was there I bought several ones, offered one to a colletor friend and kept the other sealed for trading purposes. But I never bothered to trade it in the end, so I still have it somewhere.
  10. Thanks You so much Henry, We should find a way, I'll contact you through PM Thanks!
  11. Man, I had an emergency leading to forgetting every thing I had to do at the end of this week, and missed concert and the YouTube link altogether Has anyone archived the Youtube concert somehow and would share it privately to me? (I'll buy the album when/if it comes out anyway, of course, but the feedback here really makes me want to watch it all) I have been on a Horner "rediscovey" of late, and miss him more than ever.
  12. Thanks a lot for the info, Thor. Actually just found the 30 seconds end title on youtube. I didn't know it had always been a cello piece.
  13. A gorgeous piece, - the melody on cello then the Williamesque strings, you just can't resist - one of my very favorites of his one-offs kind of pieces (along with the equally superb "Song for World Piece" But I always wondered, what is it scoring and what is this "American Collection" ? What does this piece plays to? A main title of sort, is there any other version than this one (in terms of instrumentation or duration)?
  14. Here we go! https://variety.com/2022/artisans/news/john-williams-obi-wan-kenobi-theme-star-wars-series-1235185228/
  15. Both points are true for sure, but for both of them the counter argument could be "yeah, sure, but the last movie sucked". Coming back to "Indy IV", it sure was a letdown compared not only to the previous Indy scores (which could have been expected), but also compared to all those great 2000 scores until then. "The Adventure of Mutt" was say... not a highlight. But if "Indy V" has at least its "Antz!" track, I'll be happy
