  1. I'd say the beginning of Healing Katniss of JNHoward (with the english horn). But it's subjectiv
  2. To come back to Dany: That wouldn't surprise me if Martin kills her before that! Ah no ! Not her ! She's too awesome :3 What do you think about Dany ? What could she do on the throne ? I love her, but I reckon she won't be a good queen (she'll kill everyone on his way, and it will become a tyranny).
  3. Ender's Game - Steve Jablonsky. I'm not fond of Jablonsky, and even though I didn't like this score, I admit I liked the tonality's changement in the theme. Shrek - John Powell/Harry Gregson-Williams Except a couple track, I loved it ! It's simply, beautiful and enjoyable. However, I think the main theme is too famous for what it is (I talk about Fairytail, the Finale is much better <3 !) #publicist: Indeed, we can feel an arabic style, and that's rather good (and new for me).
  4. I didn't like Agora's score when I listened it (about 1 or 2 years ago if I remember). Nothing special (or maybe the last track, full of feelings) The movie is very good, though (one of my bests) ! But Marianelli isn't - for me - such an extraordinary composer. However, I admit he did good job sometimes.
  5. Boooooooooooooooooom bom. Such original. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret - John Williams (I begin to listen well-know scores from him - and because I love HP -, and after I'll listen others.)
  6. You are a kind of... robot ? Cooooooool !
  7. Everything in The Walking Dead is just set up for future seasons. They build and build and build to these big events, then plow through them so fast only to take another ten episodes to set up the next "big event." If not for my brother I probably would have quit the show awhile ago, but now I'm stuck to finish through I'm afraid. I felt a similar feeling with Dexter years ago, and I'm sure the ends will be equally disappointing. I did (during the season 4's beginning). Unfortunately, I think Walking Dead lacks of a good plot. And comics too (I stoped them at the 18th as well) ! We turn turn turn turn turn turn... turn around something unimportant. At the end, I was just waiting for another "big event" (as Wycket said), but except to move into another place or kill someone in the group, there's nothing 'major' in the plot. But... Zombies are rather cool.
  8. I see. My god, this movie... I want to puke. Very overrated in France. Richard, maybe some people prefer discover other... kind of film ?
  9. Seriously, what do you find... special in French films ? (We know they are known worldwide, but... we don't know why ^^)
  10. I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure what you mean. I mean: And composers who do their music WITHOUT watch the film in the same time, they can capture the movie's emotion, though. (that's why I quote Mogwai with The Returned: they haven't seen the serie when they did the score)
  11. My teacher gives me all 5 Breaking Bad's seasons. If it's as good as you say, I'll come back here.
  12. Film cues have a lot of known factors or givens, such as length, dynamics, and a general idea of tempo shifts. You also have meetings with the director to decide ideas of mood or purpose. You're not starting with a blank slate. Film scores don't technically need to work outside the film, their first responsibility is to support the action on screen. There is a certain skillset required for that job, but you could legitimately be a mediocre composer and still pull off the task of putting together a workable cue that achieves a certain goal. It could be very workman-like without transcending the film. Then you have people like John Williams who are so good at composition that their scores take the form of greater art outside their initial use within the film. Now I see what you meant. Your agrument makes sence. However, what if the composer work on the score outside the film's universe ? I think about the group Mogwai who did a rather good work for Les Revenants' score/soundtrack (or The Returned if you know).
  13. Good version ! This is what I could say to me in few weeks. Fuck it all !
  14. Point of views are very different concerning this one, but it's always a pleasure to discuss about ! Have you ever played the firsts Tomb Raider ? The last was indeed "casual". And the plot is... :s
  15. nightscape: There is a sentence that I don't understand in your paragraph: "Honestly, you do not have to be a great composer to be a great film composer." In fact, you mean anyone could be a great film composer even though this person doesn't know how to compose ? I try to understand but... ^^
  16. And French say "seasons" (= "saison") as well. Otherwise, the previous episode was better than the newest (more plots).
  17. Yes, I am a big fan of the show, and have the complete series on DVD. The 5th season could have been better, but I have to credit Fox for sticking with the show as long as they did. Me too! You're right, though one season would have been too much. What is your favourite season ? For me it's the third (ginger Olivia <3). Yes, check out Princess Mononoke, Ponyo, and My Neighbor Totoro Okey, I'll watch tonight Princess Mononoke (it was even planned before you told me that)
  18. Nobody talk about The Hunger Games score by JNH ? A really beautiful piece ! Tracks like The Train, The Reaping or Healing Katniss are to me very good. But the second score for Catching Fire is not good as well.
  19. I don't find that The Mission Suite is one of his best composition. I prefer Once Upon a Time in the West.
