leeallen01 got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in THE ORVILLE - Show Discussion
Yeah same. 'Future Unknown' was such a wonderful finale to a series if it ends up that way. Seth definitely wanted to wrap it up in a way that it can end there satisfyingly if he can't get any more made.
I'm so happy he ended the Kaylon arc the episode before, and chose to have a quiet, character driven on-ship episode as the final episode. My favourite kinds of Star Trek episodes are ship episodes where we just get to spend time with the crew in their daily lives. And 'Future Unknown' was perfect at that.

Its all fun and games now, but remember your enthusiasm for this when you read the following blurb next year. "Due to overseas conducting commitments, Williams had to pass on scoring Spielberg's highly anticipated new UFO movie. Spielberg admitted that he was disappointed but looks forward to working with Zimmer for the first time."

He clearly adores the Orville (As I do with the depths of my very soul), so hopefully if needs be, and the studio gets difficult, he can say "okay disney, if you want to make any more massive amounts of money from me on this property, give me what I want."
By the sounds of it, he wont stop until more Orville is made, and so too the rest of the cast and crew.
Thank you Seth, for fighting for the Orville.

OMG! A video of Seth directly confirming that more Orville is coming!
(start at 17:26, the play button should bring you right there)
Hopefully it's a season 4, and not a followup movie, but I'll take either!

Seems hard to believe, with no other news sources saying anything yet, but lets hope this is real!

Berlin? Twice in... what... two years?
And when was the last time you were in London, Mr. Williams?
I'll tell you: July 4th, 1998 (!). I know, I was there!

Stu coming back has been rumored since the first sequel was announced in 1996. Lillard is terrific in everything, so at this point why not

We're just getting Giacchino again aren't we.
I mean, I like his JW scores. But I think it's time for someone else now. Don Davis would be cool. But it'll never in a million years happen.

I want it to go to some third-tier RCP composer and their own bench of additionals so I have zero reason to think or care about Jurassic Park 7.

Don't hate, but I could be on board for bring Don Davis (from III) back to score.

Neve Campbell returns!!!!
And director also announced.
Kevin Williamson has been a writer or producer on all previous Scream films. This is looking like it's going the right way again!

leeallen01 got a reaction from TolkienSS in Bear McCreary's The Rings of Power APPRECIATION thread
As a fan of Bear, I gave a listen to the first few released pieces and wasn't hugely impressed, so I haven't yet listened to any of the score. Do the majority of people here recommend his score? And should I finally listen to it?
I have only watched about half of the first episode and then gave up because it was so bad, and I have since seen moments and heard about what happened and it sounds like an atrocious series.
So I will not be watching it, as a huge LOTR fan, but should I overlook that and still try the score?

I mean, its a score of lovely colour and athletic melodicism. And the contributions by both Howard Shore and Plan 9 and David Long are all quite worthwhile.
The main thing that weighs it down is that it sounds nothing like Howard Shore, but utilizes many of his orchestral colours throughout. So one is left thinking: "Man, are the Howard Shore scores awesome or what!"

leeallen01 reacted to A. A. Ron in Bear McCreary's The Rings of Power APPRECIATION thread
Just give Tracks 3-15 of the main album a spin. They’re basically all theme suites anyway. If you like it play the rest. Personally, I don’t really play the episode albums, but the main OST has some of my absolute favorite material from Bear. And this is from someone who saw the whole season and ultimately didn’t like the show.

My favourite piece from the score.
That opening of the Indy themes is beyond gorgeous.
It feels so tender and warm.
The flute and clarinet talking to each other, and the later french horn. My lord.

leeallen01 reacted to Gabriel Bezerra in Simon Franglen's AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER (2022)
Don't know where exactly to put this information, saw this post from one of the composers of the upcoming Avatar game and I found it amusing how Horner's name wasn't mentioned at all in an interview with Pinar Toprak ("main" composer), but it's the first thing Neal Acree talks about it.

I absolutely adore this album. It has been accompanying me on several autumnal walks in the past weeks and made the experience so much more fascinating. Definitely up there with the best albums of 2023.

leeallen01 reacted to Knight of Ren in James Newton Howard - THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES
Yeah, I feel the biggest flaw of this score is that relies a bit too much on old themes, even when it doesn't always make sense, and doesn't allow the new material to shine as much.
I mean, his themes for the saga have always been a bit confusing in what they mean or what they represent, but I always interpreted the theme from Arena Crumbles as Katniss theme, so hearing it on Coryo Enters the Capitol and a couple more cues was a bit confusing.

I'm gonna have to listen to this at one point, as horrible as I found the movie.
