  1. Question: I'm looking to buy Flashpoint by the Rolling Stones, but am I correct in saying that, for some stupid reason, a complete album was never released? They seem to have recorded more stuff that was only released as b-sides, whatever those are.
  2. Not insensitive at all, but I'm not quite sure how to answer it. Do you mean, how do I watch them? Well, in this case I'd just be enjoying the surround version as opposed to the stereo mix, provided they've invented better hearing aids by that time since my right eardrum had to go and become all funny and healing is not something it wants to. Or do you mean, why would I want to watch them with someone? Maybe to ask their opinion on what they see or the occasional description of what they see. Or because I'm guessing it would be more exciting for them to watch instead of just listen. Does that answer your question?
  3. I don't doubt it. But once you CAN do it it surround, properly, you should.
  4. I have both, bought only so I could watch them with an as of yet non-existent other half at a distant point in the future for her conversion to JW.
  5. Because it can. Because it always sounds better if the music has a little more room to breathe.
  6. I'm curious, what's so special about Japan? As in, why do they often seem to get SACD releases etc. that would sell in other countries too? Why Japan?
  7. Huh, same seems to be happening with Groundhog Day.
  8. That's just plain weird. How did it work in theatres then?
  9. I just got Presumed Innocent on DVD. Is it normal there's only a 2 channel audio track? Was no surround sound version released?
  10. Green hornet, halfway. Here we go again, Seth Rogen playing a guy you hate after an hour, pfff. Wonder what Beethoven recording they used.
  11. Minority Report sold out, apparently.
  12. HP1 especially is a score you just need from beginning to end. And if one needs to cut, one should stick to the film order and not waste time on a suite that nobody was missing to begin with because they didn't know it. Mind, I don't understand why JKR had to be difficult about a separate release. Her books made people read, why couldn't they make people listen to the orchestra?
  13. Bach, English suite 4, Schiff. We have now reached the inevitable point where it all becomes unmusical showing-off on a keyboard.
  14. Which one is that at this point? I have one from 1994 on Hänssler?
  15. Poor things. Well, it was certainly interesting. I was hooked during the first 30 minutes or so, but sort of lost some interest the moment the grand adventure began. The acting is superb and the dialogue mostly fantastic, but what always bothers me with movies like these is that they reach a point where the situations/dialogues become too absurd, or rather, so absurd that it seems the characters are bound to become aware of their own mad predicament. Still, it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. Most of the music is incredibly grating, though.
  16. Handel, Fireworks, Marriner's first recording, on vinyl. Ah... music.
  17. There are fee increases for longer tracks? Wow. I agree about the prologue. Was there ever any plan to open the album with the version we all knew? It would really, really have been better, in my view. It’s the only jarring album decision for me. Well, it’s more to do with the choice of takes. In the album opening, you clearly hear the piccolo trying to survive their parts. In the original version, you hear the piccolo having a blast. About the finale, can you comment on why you chose not to replicate the film transition for Crossed Swords? (I think that’s what it’s called, the cue that kind of starts like the Chase in ET.) The film transition is much more musical than the OST/LLL one. Fully agree on the Kensington paragraph. Part of me really wants the extension in the main program because I think that both that cue and the end credits don’t end on the bang I want them to.
  18. I'm even more surprised we still don't know what the other things they're releasing on 4 May are.
  19. I just thought of this, Jay: How happy are you with the presentation yourself? Would you have preferred anything to be different at all?
  20. They always do. Their entire FB page reads as like a 'stop complaining please' plea which is uncalled for I think. Wait, maybe I shouldn't say that or I''ll get banned again.
