  1. Oh man, I can name quite a few. I've always loved Exultate Justi although I'm not 100% sure it's a Williams composition? From 1941 I always lean to Battle Over Hollywood or End Titles March. that section of The Flying Sequence from Superman (especially when that Statue of Liberty fanfare kicks in *swoon*), March of the Villains, Battle in the Snow from ESB, Parade of the Ewoks, and the complete Indy's First Adventure sequence from Last Crusade, the battle music from Hook, The Land Race from Far and Away, Cry Your Tears, Africa from Amistad (I LOVE this score) and the main title from The Patriot.
  2. On his 89th birthday, I look at John Williams’s first film score which was not composed for Spielberg or Lucas in Hollywood. It was for a provincial government official in Newfoundland and Labrador when Williams was a young member of the U.S. Air Force. I live just minutes away from the little downtown building where this score was recorded (it's still there) and the library (also still there) where he would find local provincial melodies usually sung by fishermen. https://setthetape.com/2018/09/21/the-story-of-john-williams-first-film-score/
  3. You know what these two are waiting for? An expanded remastered Far and Away and I'll bet this is the year we get it!
  4. Finally for Far & Away and The River. I Love Far & Away and the MCA CD needs a modern day remastering badly. Ditto for The River. The beginning of that movie had an incredible Bum-bum-bum drum beat added to The River main theme that I have wanted forever. Do not care one bit for Sabrina.
  5. Blowing Off Steam from Far & Away is one. The Droid Invasion from TPM
  6. Can't really make anything out from this. The third last track on disc 1 is a long title so I guess that's the Escape/Chase/Bikes/Goodbye track.
  7. Far and Away has some good stuff not released including that terrific alternate version of the end credits. I really want an expansion of this one. 25th anniversary maybe?
  8. 1. Glory 2. Willow 3. The Rocketeer 4. Titanic 5. Clear and Present Danger 6. Legends of the Fall 7. Searching For Bobby Fischer 8. The Pagemaster 9. Braveheart 10. The Land Before Time
  9. Sounds much like the JW from The Last Crusade/Home Alone period. This is going to be a treat!
  10. I have more affection for JW than I do for members of my family. I may have listened to this man's music every single day for 30 years. Here's to another decade of JW output!

  13. For me it'll always be that entire last hour of Jedi. And then he did the same with TOD the following year! Mind-blowing. No wonder he took a break in 85.
  14. My three favorite composers (Williams, Morricone, Newman) all nominated in the same year. Has this happened before? Boy, It's a good day. Burwell is no slouch either. His scores for Rob Roy and True Grit are absolute standouts. I wouldn't be surprised if he grabs the prize from Morricone.

  16. Great. Like he did 20 years ago. I think this experience might have added years to his life.
  17. Mine arrived yesterday. Still in the white Intrada box. I've decided to wait until Christmas to open it.
  18. I quickly threw this together, hope you like it. (click for full size) That is beautiful.
  19. These samples sound great. One thing that bothered me regarding the 2010 disc was the way the triangle "dings" all sounded flat and dulled out. And of course, this was a score that featured quite a lot of "dings." I'm wondering If I ordered this now, would it arrive in Canada by Christmas week? I'm still waiting for my Jaws disc.
  20. I never liked the alternates on the SW special editions. They're nice to have. I just never really liked them.
  21. Does Intrada do 3 disc sets? I'm thinking each SW would have to be 3 discs each. Maybe A New Hope can get away with being just two.
