  1. Is there not a complete listing of all tracks in chronological order, including all source music?
  2. I'm confused about some of the tracks on disc 2 vs the presentation and track names on disc 1. Is D2-18 E.T. is Dying is presented in alternate form elsewhere on disc 1?
  3. That wasn't a joke. A joke is something funny that makes you laugh. That was a ridiculous statement made out of the anus in a lame and rather pathetic attempt at humor. Even worse, the joke falls flat on it's ugly face when it's Williams who "seems" to have a love affair with Ridley, and not the other way around. Further, as I pointed out, there's no humor to be gained by making such a moronic post about any connection for financial gain between 2 wealthy individuals. Most of this thread is just super creepy anyways.
  4. WTF does Daisey Ridley have to do with the estimated net worth of John Williams? Do people really think she's getting paid scale to be in a franchise which will earn over $5 BILLION at the box office, never mind having her likeness included in merchandise that will go on long after she's likely gone? I think Miss Ridley is doing quite alright for herself. I'd also highly doubt that estimate as well. Williams has how many film scores to his credit, let alone other compositions he's been compensated well for? Then all his performances and appearances. His royalties and so on. His home alone would be at least 10% of that estimate.
  5. Just dipping my toe in to listen to the first few beats of tracks sharing the same name as the soundtrack it's odd to hear so many initial differences. Curious how a "full complete" soundtrack will work itself out. Also, LOL at so many people in this thread. Film music is serious business!
  6. Holy crap what an utterly stupid position. I mean if you are going to take a giant shit like that at least defend your reason for doing so rather than just dropping the deuce and then running away.
  7. Just watched this tonight. What a steaming pile of flaming feces. Wow, was it bad. And people want Nolan to direct a Star Wars film? GROSS!
  8. That's what my buddy said - she's dead. I'm not so certain. Darth Maul not only fell down a reactor shaft he was also cut in half. He wasn't dead though. I was actually waiting for Snoke's torso to float up in the medium/wide shot of Hux. It looked like he was using some mechanical type legs when he got up and walked around. But no, he stayed down. Missing both arms to which was rather effective. Great death to a character who was powerful but not as smart as he thought he was. Rey even calls him out the same way Luke did. Those calling this film just a re-hash of Empire sure forget how much happens in Return of the Jedi. And that the Star Wars Universe is cyclical.
  9. Sucks you went and saw a different movie than I did. The ENTIRE chase through the salt mine to "Here They Come" had me grinning ear to ear. AMAZING and fit PERFECTLY. So much hate coming from those who wanted BIG answers to their own made-up questions is hilarious. The film was damn good and threw every expectation you had for it out the window. That is why you hated it and no amount of whining about it will convince you that your own failings are what skewed you experience watching this film. Rey's parents are exactly who she tells EVERYONE they are in The Force Awakens - NO ONE. It's right there 2 years ago. Luke ignored Yoda and Obi-Wan and still acts like he always had. He failed Ben so he ran away. If you don't like his reasons for doing so then blame J.J. for creating the scenario to begin with. Sometimes the best laid plans fail, you know, like Han trying to hide out on *Gasp* Bespin. Finn and Rose' plan came pretty darn close to success. Phasma - if dead- goes out like a warrior unlike that punk bitch Boba Fett. Amazing movie. Going again tomorrow and likely will see it more in theater than I did The Force Awakens. I nearly fell out of my (crappy new D-Box seat, designed in Quebec) seat when that happened. It was as bad as losing my dog. Just ouch. Beautiful, yes, but heartbreaking as well. But wow, what a way to go fooling everyone and giving Kylo a taste of what he'll never become.
  10. That's a GREAT way to fight piracy.... just give EVERYONE the album for FREE! Holy crap studios are f-ing stupid.
  11. Just finished. WOW! I feel after hearing the Finale that there's a full concert suite for Princess Leia missing from this album. And certainly there is more "non-rehashed" music in the film that's not presented here, in the format most fans will listen to and enjoy the most. The FYC album should fill in many gaps.
  12. 3 tracks in and it's beautiful. How it builds on TFA themes brings them into cohesion much better I feel. 13.5 hours and I'll know how it all fits together!
  13. Seth McFarlane live onstage with John Williams was a fantastic performance. McFarlane is far more talented than what Family Guy and the other animated shows have devolved to. The Orville is fantastic. Also.... I did join in.
  14. Well this thread was..... something.
  15. Seems like 7/8 of threads right now are all Last Jedi. And while I eagerly await it's arrival on my doorstep, The Post was just nominated for the Best Original Score - Motion Picture Golden Globe. So it must be pretty good. Oddly, Williams doesn't get a credit in the IMDB awards listing page.
  16. For a blink and you'll miss it moment, as an homage. The main theme of the film was completely new, same as Trek 2009. That's the point. Same universe. Same characters. Completely new themes. Yet somehow new versions of characters in a new re-booted universe should carry over themes that were not crafted for them for "musical thematic consistency"?? Williams Superman theme does not fit a moody half-emo stand-by-and-watch-Kevin-Costner-get-sucked-up-by-a-tornado need-another-shirtless-sequence-for-the-ladies MARTHA!!! version of the Man of Steel. Let's also look at how far away from Williams themes the Harry Potter films moved the higher the number climbs. Eventually they come back to Hedgewig's theme but more or less the rest is just ignored for plain, boring non-memorable filler.
  17. Played in 'Hyper-Space Mountain' is just amazing. Made me a kid riding my bike down the bike path through townhouse complexes, over big rocks and through alleys all over again. "We're not going on the boat?" Just perfect!
  18. I would NEVER call the Williams Superman theme outdated. Ever. I would, however, argue that it does not fit in the Zack Snyder/Christopher Nolan DC Uni-mess. Further, that bring it "back" to replace the already established theme is yet another cheap and lame attempt by bad filmmakers to try and gloss over how bad their filmmaking truly is. Zimmer's theme completely fits this universe though. The problem is it wasn't written in a way that can be adapted to different emotions. It will always be a plodding, drawn out, overly dramatic theme. You can't urn it into a cute ring-tone type moment or and love theme moment. That's the downside of doing everything gritty and dark with no ability of redemption. That is what Nolan and Snyder brought to DC. Same goes with Elfman recycling his own theme. It has nothing to do with the quality of the musical themes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which I agree are far from memorable. But thus far they've failed to hire the upper echelon of film composers to create amazing themes for them and even the pretty good composers they've had have been held within many restraints. Throwing the old themes into the new JL movie is just DC trying to play to the sympathetic DC fanboys any way they can. At the end of the day their movies are still mostly junk and the scores forgettable. First hearing the 1989 Batman them was recycled and now knowing the Williams Superman theme is associated with the drivel makes me even less interested in seeing this film than I was before. I didn't think I could care less (as the incorrect saying goes) but apparently I can! If I want to hear Williams amazing Superman theme I have 5 movies to experience it in. Hell Williams didn't even feel the need to grossly recycle himself with TFA and came up with all new material, only re-using his previous work when it made sense - the original actors in the same universe are on screen, not new actors playing new versions in a completely rebooted universe. Your argument about the Bond theme falls flat when I bring up Star Trek 2009 uses nothing of the original show, film or Next Generation themes until the homage in the end credits. And those scores play pretty well on their own. Heck even Star Trek The Motion Picture completely abandoned the Star Trek them for something much different. In the end the musical consistency argument is also wrong as there are established themes within this universe that were removed in favor of older (some may say better) and more nostalgia heart string pulling themes. Just more bad decisions from the people war Warner Bros. behind the abysmal DC Extended Universe. DC just needs to give up and fire everyone. What a mess. I regularly listen to the amazing themes written by Steve Jablonski for Transformers. A Zimmer pupil, no less.
  19. All new versions of James Bond movies play with the orchestration of the main theme to some extent. What's your point here? And further, Man of Steel (Like Batman Begins) is not a continuation of the Christopher Reeves Superman franchise - unlike Superman Returns was. Why not create a new Superman theme? Hilariously, the use of both the old Batman 1989 and Superman 1978 themes are a direct result of DC making BAD superhero movies and trying to win back movie goers in an ever lasting failed attempt to compete with what Marvel built up properly over numerous films through multiple years. DC wanted Batman V Superman to be what The Avengers was and crammed so much garbage and bloat into it just to say "Haha, we did it!" only to fall flat on their face. Suicide Squad was a disaster. Wonder Woman was average but that's because it had little to do with Zack Snyder and Gal Godot was the only real good thing about BVS (even if horribly jammed into it). Justice League making less than $100 million on opening weekend, regardless of what old themes are recycled in the score, is a clear indication that Warner Bros. DC movie people don't know what they are doing. Meanwhile Thor: Ragnarock is delighting audiences and making money. Thor 3. When Thor 1 was a small film that got some mixed reviews. Marvel took their time to build their universe and work out kinks. DC just wants Avengers type returns from movie 2 and continue to make, at best, average films. So now going back in time to re-use themes that are iconic and classic just for the sake of drawing people into their mess makes them look even more desperate. For the record, I like the Hans Zimmer Man of Steel theme. I like his work on the Nolan Batman films even if they are grossly overrated in and of themselves. I like quite a bit of Hans Zimmer's work and Danny Elfman to, for that matter. Each have their place in the world of film music. It is quite possible to like BOTH Elvis and The Beatles, afteral. I just continue to laugh at DC for screwing up their superhero universe so badly while I eagerly anticipate Black Panther (who???) next year!
