  1. Jeez.... Sitting here with my niece who I was all set to take. Just watched past performances of some of these selections. Tears in my eyes. Here's to next year....
  2. I hope all those who attend this year enjoy. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances I had to cancel my trip on Sunday and won't be able to attend this year. I am greatly disappointed but will be in Chicago no matter what!
  3. Which site? Your best bet is to contact the site directly. Last year my tickets from TicketZoom arrived about 2 weeks out. My Stubhub tickets were about the same. But contact the site and discuss with them as unfortunately no one on this board can really do anything else to help you out.
  4. When the OP starts a stupid thread claiming it is to be a stupid thread you don't have a leg to stand on calling out a poster who reinforces the very first sentence posted in the thread. The defences that come out trying to support the stupidity of the thread just make it even more hilarious. Most Harry Potter films aren't legit because they don't live up to the books? What the fuck does that even mean? They lived up to the book's author's approval. I guess the 6 or 7 Harry Potter films that aren't really Harry Potter films (not because Williams didn't score them but because.... reasons) are not legit but the 3 Star Wars films, scored by Williams, that the internet has nothing better to do over a decade later but continue to shit on the creator's vision are? As stated by the OP, dumb thread is dumb. It's not even borderline.
  5. Are Harry Potter 4-8 not legitimate Harry Potter films? This is such a stupid topic. Love the Jerry Goldsmith scoring JJ's Trek considering he didn't even score all of the previous 10 Trek films. Dumb topic is dumb. Summer must be pretty boring for some of you.
  6. The film presentation is of the lowest denominator concern to the concert organisers. At my Raiders LTC the film wasn't even set-up to properly fill the entire width of the available screen. And frankly, other than finding it a little odd, I didn't care. Hoping for a not-very popular film to have a specific visual presentation at a LTP concert is like asking for Drumpf to stay off of twitter.
  7. Those HPatPS programs look nive! All they had for Indy here was a colour photocoppied 8.5x11 folded pamphlet. Hope to see those available here May 17-18, 2018! Now bring on Jurassic Park!!!
  8. Not likely. As stated the videos are of the Cincinnati Pops, not the Calgary Philharmonic. These are the same arrangements as part of a similar concert with the same conductor. I can say though that it sounded fantastic. My tickets were last minute so I was close enough to hear the cello bows on the strings and the cymbals being almost jarring. It was fantastic. Also learnt that next May there will be a Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Live to Projection performance here. Hopefully that means Jurassic Park, Jaws and eventually Star Wars will be coming to! Oh I should also mention that as I was leaving there was a piano in one of the exterior halls of the Arts Common and while I waited for someone I decided to showcase my absolutely abysmal musical ability by playing a few bars from Jurassic Park that I've been teaching myself on my ipad. Think I only flubbed 1 note and impressed a few concert goers.
  9. Well I'd not call it really Sci-Fi but a lot more Space Inspired as the selections were much more classical than what you or I might consider Sci-Fi but the concert was fantastic. Guest conductor John Morris Russell was energetic and entertaining. Clearly a man who does what he loves and loves what he does. My first live performance of anything from CE3K and the first 5 notes gave me chills. By the end I had tears. Just closed my eyes and I could see the mother ship ascending back to the universe. The Imperial March played with passion and almost a bit of anger. You felt every beat of it. Anakin's Theme - another first live performance for me - with such warmth from the cellos I'd never experienced from the recordings. Capped off with The Jedi Steps and Finale. Still amazing how beautiful this selection and then Rey's theme are given it's the 8th Star Wars score from 1 magician. The other Sci-Fi selections were Also Spoke Zarathustra to open the program. Again chills. Then before the intermission the 3 main Star Trek themes - TV, Motion Picture and Reboot.. While I didn't get as much Sci-Fi as I might have thought or wanted I did, after choosing this concert over a WWE Raw House Show, get both Rick Flair and Jerry "The King" Lawler entrance music live! *Note* Videos are not from tonight's performance, but the same conductor.
  10. This post only deserves to be quoted to preserve the fact that the only way you've changed from your "old" self is you are now too chicken shit to follow through on the threats you previously would have because you don't want to suffer the consequence of your actions. So you just make a quick fake jump to get someone off guard to flinch and then laugh as you walk away feeling superior on your high horse. Good job.
  11. Ever played Rainbow 6 Vegas? Far superior gameplay to the run/strafe and shoot shoot shoot! Die-respawn-shoot some more boring tired mechanic. Go play a game like Medal of Honor (not the garbage churned from a machine that comes out today, the REAL Medal of Honor) or take a look at Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. When you die you DIE. No respawn and run around like a jackass trying to get more kills in before you get taken out by a "hero" again. Battlefront was a dull boring game cash grab built on an established franchise designed for the simplest of gaming minds. The sequel looks just as bland and boring. Pretty graphics don't make up for terrible gameplay.
  12. Lego games are actually good. They are well thought out and full of things to keep you playing. I finished Force Awakens 100%. Though if you don't find the Lego asthetic interesting then they won't be for you. But compared to Battlefront the Lego games are Ferrari's racing shiny pintos with lots of flashy chrome. Heck the Lego game even knows the difference between the correct Falcon turbolaser sounds and the dumb noise JJ changed it to for absolutely zero good reasons. Also, the Lego games tend to have some JW easter eggs in them as well. Though he's yet to be made a playable minifig as far as I'm aware.
  13. What I meant was the first (well 3rd) Battlefront game was a boring, representative, run around a small map trying to get more kills than you get killed. Wave after wave of respawns. No actual tactic. No true skill. Just run and strafe and shoot before you get shot. I was bored playing the first level befire I was even finished playing the first level. But oh look, you get to be grossly over powered "heroes" and pay more money for a few more levels because they didn't feel like selling you a complete game in the first place. This new game looks like just more of the same. Class levl characters because you know in war you can only ever handle 1 type of weapon. Going back to the prequels which everyone seems excited about because the game is new but just yesterday were reminding the world how much they hate George Lucas and the crap he came up with after losing his mind in making those films. That story mode will almost certainly be just cut scenes between levels to give players some sense of satisfaction for completing missions rather than just ending a level and going back to the select screen. The gameplay won't change other than this new, suddenly the entire galaxy is full of strong powerful females, character will have her own special "hero" traits. I didn't buy the last game until this past Boxing Day for $25. I feel ripped off. Played maybe an hour and doubt I'll ever play it again. Battlefield/front games are such nonsense they aren't worth my time at all. And no idea why developers who can't be bothered coming up with an actual good game system would somehow be given access to music never before released and then find a creative way to use it. That's too much work with zero financial pay-off that is all these games are about now. I pre-ordered Red Dead 2 and can't wait for a fully fleshed out amazing game.
  14. Looks like the same dull boring gameplay that made the last game garbage. Nice visuals but running around a tiny map with no cover just trying to blast everything gets old EXTREMELY quick. Too bad Star Wars games have turned into this sort of boring shoot-die-respawn-repeat-repeat-repeat-repeat grossly over expensive nonsense. Wkae me when a game with actual story and substance arrives. I'm going to guess that will be Lego The Last Jedi.
  15. Tons more seats just showed up on re-sale sites and prices have come down a bit as well.
  16. It's amazing how good Williams works are they they just fit right in (with a bit of video editing). At first I was like "why?" but then I watched and was impressed. Still enjoy th R1 score even if it's not a "traditional" Star Wars score but it fit the film pretty well. Also, no thread on Star Wars Episode IX being bummed up to May 24, 2019 and Indiana Jones 5 confirmed for July 10, 2020?
  17. Might, might not. However the attempt at humor was poor, the placement made no indication of being a joke and continuing to go on about it and not acknowledge that it was just lame is just lame. Jokes are supposed to be funny. This "joke" was an utter and complete failure. Calling me out for stating so make it even worse and completely detravts from the other bitching in this thread about how unappreciative people are at having any new John Williams live performance.
  18. They weren't "light hearted jokes" they were posts continuing the narrative of the event by those watching it live. To see such posts, with zero indication of them being "jokes" and then get to the end of the stream wondering why I've not seen something I'm expecting to happen happen isn't funny nor amusing. It was lame and stupid.
