  1. I don't "want" anyone else conducting. My comment of lame is directed at the 2 morons who made posts about Giacchino sharing the baton with Williams before my stream had caught up to the end. It was an utterly idiotic attempt at supposed humor. If you had followed along with the rest of the posts you'd have easily understood that.
  2. Lame. Extremely lame. As an aside, it's absolutely fantastic to see Williams looking so lively and traveling. The number of concerts he's appearing at across the US in the next 12 is very encouraging to see as it bodes well to him completing the star Wars and Indiana Jones sagas.
  3. After 3 pieces? What was the talk of co-conducting? None of that was on my stream and I wasn't far behind.
  4. WTF? My stream ended after the Imperial March???
  5. Oh, ok. Ha. Ha. Ha. Good thing she didn't marry you for your sense of humor
  6. What's wrong with taking your wife? You married her because you love her, no? I wish I had a wife interested in traveling with me and attending a John Williams concert (or a few). Best I have is a friend who loves his music but unsure what the possible relationship possibilities may be. I'll be at the Hollywood bowl alone as I was the first time. Last time I took my mom. Well alone if I can't get a friend who says he loves Williams and hums all the hits in his various YouTube vlogs to go.
  7. Found seating information for the main floor at least. Rows are A to W, front to back. Seats in the center are 1xx starting stage right to stage left. So row A 101 is the front row isle seat at stage right. and row A 116 is the front row isle at stage left. There are 16 seats in the middle from row A to T and U, V, and W narrow. Seats row A 8/9 would be front row dead center. The stage left side has EVEN numbered seats starting a 2 on the center isle and climbing to the wall. The stage right side has ODD numbered seats starting at 1 on the center isle and climbing to the wall. The sides go out 11 seats then clinb and fall depending on the row as you go up the rows to V. There are no seats in row W on the sides. For reference, small chart below STAGE Row A 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 Row B 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 Row C 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 Row D 19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 Row E 21 19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 Row F 21 19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 Row G 21 19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 Row H 21 19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 Row I 21 19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 The balconies are all the same except there are 4 sections with a center isle. From center to stage left seats numbers climb with ODD numbers and from center to stage right they climb with EVEN numbers. example: 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 ISLE 113 111 109 107 105 103 101 ISLE 102 104 106 108 110 112 ISLE 2 4 6 8 10 12 Hope that helps those wondering about seating selections. Now on the re-sale sites there are tickets listed for row A but no specific seat numbers. This is puzzling to me so I think I will contact the CSC to find out why this may be. Also, a general idea of the different pricing for seats based on location. Note! This is NOT the actual pricing for the JW concerts but gives an idea of which ares are more "desirable" and therefore will cost more.
  8. Yeah like I said there's pro's and con's to different seating locations just like for Hockey or most sports. Basketball center court side will always be the best but for hockey they suck being behind the penalty or player's boxes. Sitting front row for this sort of performance means you are as close to "the man" as possible, but you won't see and might even have a bit of trouble hearing some of the orchestra. Generally those seats are actually cheaper than several rows back. For Star Wars in concert though I was in the middle of the 3rd row and it was pretty awesome but also a difference sort of venue and performance. I have no issue with re-sale sites if they have seats I'd like and the mark-up isn't ridiculous. For the Hollywood Bowl concerts Ticketmaster won't have much that's any good plus they still add all their own processing fees on top of the ticket anyways so the savings may be as minimal as the selection. Just wish I could see a proper seating chart of the Chicago Symphony Center.
  9. I've noticed tickets are listed on a few re-sale sites but for the life of me I can not figure out the seating for the Chicago Symphony Center. Tickets are listed as row A but also row A-W. What does that mean? I've also noticed the tickets listed are by row only, no seat number. I'm just very confused. Anyone have any better insight? As this will be a huge event in my life I'm entertaining attending at least 2 performances and if I can sit in the very front row close to center for 1 I'd be in heaven. It's like going to a hockey game. You can sit in 'prime' location seats or you can sit against the glass and have very different and enjoyable experiences!
  10. Why? It's from an Indy film and probably a fav of Williams and that's why it's there. I'd prefer Scherzo for Motorcycle myself but I'm not going to complain about getting a bonus Williams piece.
  11. It's very reasonable to be concerned about the ticket shipping dates listed howeve you should also note that these are estimates and in general they base their estimate on XX days prior to the event. Many people listing on these re-sale sites don't yet have their copies of the physical tickets. The past 2 events I've purchased I had zero issues getting the tickets delivered outside the US in plenty of time to leave for my trip. Yes, instant download tickets (which again may not yet be available because the people who purchased them in the first place don't yet have them in their account) is the safest bet but I ALWAYS prefer to have the proper physical ticket when possible. Last year I didn't buy my tickets until late June. The previous year I went I didn't purchase my ticket until August. Both arrived in plenty of time. I'd not worry greatly over the "mail by" date" unless you plan to leave home before that.
  12. Search YouTube for videos from previous concerts. There are tons of them and will give you an idea of what seating can be like. Your best bet for tickets is to shop all options. Last year I waited for the general release and was underwhelmed but still waited over a month before I bought the seats I did. I got far more bang for my buck by doing that. Unless you need to have tickets NOW there's no massive rush. Prices at the moment are people trying to make a profit, not just people selling seats they won't otherwise use. Supply and demand will very much affect price. I can only say I've sat in Garden boxes, row 6 then row 3, and I'm VERY happy to sit there again. If the price is right. This year my options will be more limited as my travel plans aren't based on this concert. Still hoping for the best.
  13. There won't be any "fight" to get tickets. The general release tickets tht will go live on Ticketmaster on May 7th are going to be few and nothing special. The Bowl sells tickets primarily on season memberships. I waited to see what the general release tickets would be like last year and there was nothing of actual interest. Mainly just "leftovers". The general sale ticket prices are likely going to be the cheapest, but they will also come with their own Ticketmaster fees tacked on. Buying from a re-sell site is going to give you more selection but also higher prices. And tickets will show up at different times. Last year tickets were being posted right up until the day before the concerts. Also, the Sunday performance will likely have the best "deals" as it's an extra concert and not usually apart of the usual season subscriptions. The face value of tickets will range from around $45 USD to $300 USD.
  14. Just a heads up to anyone looking to travel to LA for this weekend, hotels right around the Bowl have gotten ridiculous in price. I've stayed at a couple a mere 5 minute walk from the main sign on Highland Blvd. before because they were good decent options for the Hollywood area but in no way are they worth the $300+ per night (plus parking fees!!!) that they want now. Sucks because there's not a lot close-ish by to anything. But you can stay a few minutes walk from Disneyland for $100-ish/night. But note the Bowl is at leat an hour's drive from Disneyland.
  15. Supply and demand. Stubhub and Ticketzoom are ticket re-sale sites. People list the tickets they already own for re-sale, at what ever price they choose. When there's a very limited supply people will list of outrageous prices. When more people list the pricing will come down. Some just list their tickets for a ridiculous price and if they don't sell go to the event. If they do sell they profit. The concerts were just announced 2 days ago. People with HB season subscriptions have already "bought" seats all over the place. Some do so simply to re-sell. Some can't/don't want to go to every concert so they sell them. This isn't an extension of Ticketmaster (though they do have their own re-sale section as well) and isn't unsold tickets up for sale by the HB or LAPhil. Also note that the listed prices will often NOT include the site's own processing fees and shipping/delivery options. But tickets can be had for as little as $45 USD + fees. The price you are willing to pay will depend on where you want to sit and what you can budget for. My 'face' prices for Garden box seats the past 2 concerts was $135 and $140 USD. I paid closer to $200 USD for each of them. All things considered, very VERY worth the price. Even if I then had to convert to CAD and last year is was utter shit. Use the links I posted so you can explore the street view of the venue. Read up on the types of seating at the Bowl as not every seat is an individual chair. This isn't a concert hall type venue nor a concert hall type performance. It's unique and what I can only compare to a Shakespeare in the Park type performance. For my money, it's worth every penny I can muster to see the man, no the myth, nah the LEGEND live.
  16. stubhub.com ticketzoom.com There are others as well but these are the 2 I've used in the past for various events. And $320 isn't anything crazy at this point in time.
  17. As I've stated before, tickets have begun to appear on the re-sale sites. Though prices are sky high at the moment.
  18. Geez the wait was starting to get to me! As stated before general public tickets will likely go on sale around the and of April/beginning of May. However selection will be somewhat limited. Ticket re-sell sites like Stubhub and Ticketzoom will have people posting their seats for sale shortly and their inventory will change all the time. These will start as seats from Bowl subscribers and the selection will be a lot more than what will be available on Ticketmaster. However you will pay a premium, so shop wisely. Now I need to make some crazy travel arrangements as I need to be on a cruise ship by 2pm EST on the Satruday, and the ship sials from Florida. Hmmmm....
  19. Everyone's favourite Moosebutter put to the films!
  20. A 7-week series of all films (thus far) would be pretty amazing.
  21. Why the (mostly)? Kind of defeats your argument, no? There's good posters on any board. Unfortunately those who feel they need to act like a-holes to get attention tend to do so with a loud voice and will do anything just to get under the skin of the decent posters. This thread is a prime example. People posting positive wishes to someone we all admire (I think) and yet someone had to show up and put down not 1 but 2 tributes because they weren't up to that person's idea of "good". Now instead of good wishes being posted to Mr. Williams on his birthday the thread has delved into a completely different and not relevant topic all cause by 1 specific troll. And it's not just local to this thread either. I mean acting like a bullying whiny child got the orange pumpkin elected. And JWFan isn't a very big board, all things considered. Just go over to a big board like Blu-ray.com where 8-10 people try to run the show with purely negative posts and if you say anything counter to their opinion rather than jump on board with them you are shouted down to the point you either give up or do something that causes you to get an infraction. It's pathetic and sad.
