  1. It's the norm on many forums. Hence why I try to stay out of posting and be more of a lurker.
  2. It's not my video. Plus there's nothing wrong with it. Using 1 consistent aspect ratio is done all the time when cutting together video from various different sources. It is an artistic choice made by the creator to be consistent through the entire presentation. Something I did do when I made this video, and I don't give a crap what your opinion of it is. Your criticism was just "old man yelling at cloud" internet dick wagging, and not called for. Talking down to someone in a condescending manner is also very petty and childish.
  3. How many musicians from 1976 are still with the LSO? Going by the photos of the players on the LSO website the vast majority don't look much older than I am and I wasn't even a twinkle in the eye in '76. I'd believe the LSO would perform to the best of their ability the music as presented on the music sheets provided, as arranged to as accurately match the film presentation as possible. The only real difference should be the sound mix, as the music is the main focus of these types of shows.
  4. And we care because.....? Post your own John Williams tribute video with various shifting aspect ratios so we can all complain about it next time.
  5. Based on the rising popularity of the LTP concerts I'm sure these 4 (5) films will begin a world tour. With Raiders coming up for me in May I'm hoping Jurassic Park is on tap for next year and the full Star Wars ensemble the year after!
  6. Wish the author would do another and include as much of his other works as possible, but this is still a very go-to video for me.
  7. No announcement yet today There are, however, already listings on Ticketzoom for the Sunday "Movie Night". http://www.ticketzoom.com/tickets/hollywood-bowl/t2223882/movie-night-tickets.aspx Also, in 2014 this Sunday performance did happen after the 2 John Williams (with Seth McFarlane) performances on Friday and Saturday but it was a tribute to Hitchcock conducted by David Newman. http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/sites/default/files/media/pdfs/press-kits/2014/2014_hb_chronological_listings_-_new_additions.pdf . So don't go buying tickets for this yet, until there's an official confirmation that it is also a JW concert.
  8. Canada is a pretty BIG place. Second BIGGEST country on the planet. Most of it stunningly beautiful. A few places though, yikes! To the point you don't even have to make jokes about going to "Siberia" when people have actually chosen to go to the real Siberia in favor of sticking around. The lack of a symphony orchestra is a cherry on top of it.
  9. Have you ever been there? Soviet era U.S.S.R. has nicer architecture. Dress shoes with sweatpants and mullets is considered formal wear. And you can actually smell sh!t as you cross the bridge at the southern city limits. Nice place to visit is you enjoy being stabbed though.
  10. Ew GROSS! I can assure you my "name" here has nothing to do with feces. If it did it would be spelt E-D-M-O-N-T-O-N.
  11. Which you found through some Google archive, though on the actual site when anything was live it never mentioned Williams.
  12. Movie night has been re-listed on the limited season schedule. The time changed from 8pm to 7:30pm. Nothing else is listed with it. Still not sure where it ever said anything about being a Williams performance. But Oh, Oh, Oh Oh Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh Oh the NKOTB are playing the 'Bowl June 2nd. Guess they've got the 'right stuff'!

  14. I'd happily fly to Melbourne or Paris to see this. Toronto? BLEH!
  15. The main page is soooo miss-leading! It says April 27-30, which means there would be a performance on my birthday. At any rate, I think this is something I need to seriously look into for next year. Very seriously.
  16. I was teasing you, man. Saw the silly faux outrage towards you in another thread. If you can make it to SoCal (and are allowed to enter the U.S. of Drumpflandia) then more power to you. The full schedule is likely to be announced in the next 10 days or so. Last year it was on Feb 9th, a Tuesday, so possibly the 7th this year.
  17. How can you afford to go to all these concerts???!?!?!!?!1!!?!1!?!1 Kidding! Once the season schedule comes out people with season subscriptions will begin listing tickets on various ticket exchange sites including Ticketmaster.com, Stubhub.com, Ticketzoom.com and so on. The Hollywood Bowl will list tickets to the general public directly around the beginning of May. The exact date will be known when the full summer season schedule is announced.
  18. Only 1 concert was posted originally, the Sunday Night "Movie Night". Friday and Saturday have not been listed at all. Last year Friday and Saturday were revealed on Feb 9th to be the John Williams/David Newman concerts which were extended to the Sunday "Movie Night". 2 years prior (as there was no JW concert in 2015) it was only Friday and Saturday. Actually looking at the season schedule now it appears a number of concerts have been removed or possibly changed, on the official Hollywood Bowl site at least. Also, why the thread title change?
  19. The "Movie Night" concert for Sunday Sept 3rd has been removed from the limited summer schedule. Wonder if it's in anticipation for announcing another 3-day weekend of JW concerts?
  20. By the sounds of this announcement I'm expecting (and hoping) that something similar will again be on tap for the Hollywood Bowl come September. I don't mind a split podium but I'm also greedy enough to say I'd love it to be 100% Williams. Even if they have to extend the intermission so he can rest. But any Williams is better than none. For those able to go to these performances, have a great time and let us know how it went!
  21. Locals are of course a great resource, but they also come with the bias of being local and not always aware of things that tourists encounter. More information is always a good thing to help make good decisions. Just found this from the HB site which confirms the info of when the schedule will be released, as well single tickets will go on sale via Ticketmaster on May 7. http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/press/los-angeles-philharmonic-association-announces-first-glimpse-of-hollywood-bowl-2017-summer Tickets will be available before then at places like Stubhub.com, Ticketzoom.com etc.
