  1. Oh actually exceptions are Williams of course, and maybe James Newton Howard (although recently I was disappointed in what he produced).
  2. Oh well, let's just hope Bowers will do a good job with animation. But let's be real, every time someone else than Powell / Sener is announced for animation I'm disappointed 😆
  3. I just realized there is this movie directed by Chris Sanders, who has worked with Powell multiple times… I hope Powell gets to score this one too! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt29623480/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
  4. If you ask me, they're some of the best scores ever. But it depends on what style you tend to appreciate. I love high energy complex stuff. That's why Powell is one of my favourites (and not so much Hans, for example).
  5. yes, I was watching the first episode and three times the music reminded me of something else and I thought to myself that was probably temp scored 😅
  6. I mean, isn't it kinda just tremolo strings? 😆 Not so special to begin with…
  7. What more convincing do you need other than the fact it's John Powell revisiting his best work?
  8. Alright, that's a good point. It would indeed bring fresh ideas. But who knows, maybe he'll try to push himself and give us something new and not just copy-paste.
  9. For me, I don't mind how shitty the movie is, I'm just SO happy Powell will get to revisit his best work ever! More Dragons music for us! Rejoice!
  10. Haha, I just like the fact you can get a glimpse of a certain other composer, that I purposefully cropped out because I'm not such a fan hahah . Also, THANK YOU for these theme breakdowns! It's so much fun and makes it easier indeed to appreciate the soundtracks! Did you ever think about making YouTube videos out of those? Haha
  11. Alright so after my third complete listen, I must admit I do enjoy Powell being back to animation, but I really don't feel like it's one of his strongest work… I'm a little disappointed with each listen. Don't get me wrong, it's still Powell and therefore great music, but I just would consider it in his less good animation ones, like Bolt. Hoping we will get more interesting stuff with his two scores for 2024!
  12. Oh I'm surprised Batu is only part of that few.
  13. There are rumours that they will make a live action of The Prince of Egypt. I hope Hans Zimmer will do the music again, but I was thinking; wouldn't it be great if he brought John Powell as a second composer (he was an additional composer on songs from the original movie). But I guess I'm just dreaming now haha. It'd be fun to see a Zimmer x Powell reunion (after Kung Fu Panda) ! 🙂

    Batu Sener

The Part 1 album from Atatürk is out. What do you guys think? After a first listen, I feel like there a some really good things in there. I can start to hear Sener's style… Especially if we compare it to his "Lugano Impressions", which is a really good Cello and Piano short album. After all, Charles Tyler is the solo cellist on both projects. Unfortunate that the show will only come in 2024 on Disney+, but I'll certainly listen to the music a couple times until then. All in all, I'm just very happy Sener has quite a big project on his own. I think he has a bright future as a composer ahead of him!
  15. That movie actually looks good! Can't wait to hear the score. We know Powell can give us something great with flying scenes! haha
  16. Oh I see! I guess I'm too close to being a Z as well hahah (1996)
  17. I don't understand what this is referring to?
  18. Looks like it, Sener said "Wait till you hear this score… Mind Blown!"
  19. That sounds to me like it was probably a temp track haha Good catch.
  20. What I understand from @PrayodiBA's perspective is that the number of musicians was probably less on Call of the Wild. A lot of the tracks are more on the bare side with guitar solos for example. And the fact that a score is being recorded at Air Studios or Abbey Road usually means it's a big full orchestra. They wouldn't go there just to record a small ensemble. They want the big room sound of those stages.
