  1. Anybody spotted Johnny in the audience? I haven't seen him
  2. Maybe a "deluxe edition" will include the Denève tracks? At least I hope so. And the whole concert would be on the blu-ray, surely. Not very good value otherwise.
  3. Look what's just released on spotify. Maybe this concert is finally getting an album and blu-ray? C
  4. Anne-Sophie Mutter is in Australia this weekend premiering the concerto at Sydney Opera House, with Simone Young and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra also performing a selection of underrated and famous film music. Encores were Across the Stars, The Duel, and Schindler's List.
  5. Didn't think to do this earlier, but I may as well plug my complete ranking on Letterboxd. May be of interest to some of you John Williams - Complete Ranking https://boxd.it/1NhY6
  6. 1. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back 2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 3. E.T The Extra-terrestrial 4. Star Wars 5. Superman 6. Home Alone 7. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 8. Close Encounters of the Third Kind 9. Jurassic Park 10. Schindler's List
  7. Hasn't won in 30 years, which also means nothing this century. Never won for an Indiana Jones. Might be his last score. It's also very very good. Too early to tell the likelihood of a nomination, but there's a solid campaign at least.
  8. Could have made for an interesting poll thread, unnecessary and immature putting the "mary sue" thing
  9. Listed under the music credits in the film is a track called "Pulse of the City" written by William Ross. I heard some interesting music during the New York chase scene, a Peter Gunn-like piano riff, which was mixed with other blaring pop music. This isn't on the album, and I wonder if that's what the credit refers to... Sidenote on source music- I think this is the first time a Beatles song is used in a JW film which is satisfying for my own personal music obsessions
  10. I once thought of Rey's Theme as a Disney "I Want" song I want more than this liiiife Where does my purpose liiiiie I will find the answers Wheeeen I leave this planet Iiiiif I leave this planet...
  11. I'm convinced there isn't a single corner of online Lucasfilm discussion that doesn't include someone whinging about Kathy Kennedy
  12. Speaking as someone who also had to make a big trip (from Australia), I looked at the options for JW concerts last year, and very satisfied having chose the Hollywood Bowl concerts. An advantage was you can make the most and go again over three nights rather than just the one, if you're willing to spend spend spend of course. I also justified the trip since there were enough attractions in LA that I would still find it worthwhile going there should the concerts be altered or cancelled at late notice. A concert hall would have been more ideal venue of course, but I regret nothing. Just a perspective for you, if it helps.
  13. Meryl Streep - A.I, The Post Tom Hanks - Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, The Post Michael Caine - none! Anthony Hopkins - Nixon, Amistad Jim Carrey - none
  14. This concert was a pretty big hit for Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2019, so they're doing it again. Conducted by Nicholas Buc
