  1. Interesting, I was about to ask if some of you ladies & gents have attempted your own brew of remastering on some of these OSTs, considering no version is really satisfactory particularly in the case of ESB and ROTJ. I don't mean splicing/editing together, but sound tweaking. I did, to some extent, using the '97 versions as basis, results can be interesting. ESB ended up sounding less boxy and dry, with more body and low end while keeping the clarity, and ROTJ has been somewhat de-muffled.
  2. I don't think anybody contradicts the fact that remixes are going to sound different from original mixes, it's common sense. I didn't read that anyone said remixing is a sin per se, either. Some old material has been remixed in the past and the results were better than the original mono and/or stereo mixes. Pet Sounds comes to mind, what Steven Wilson is doing with a bunch of old prog material as well, etc. The problem with these remixes is that are very badly done in some instances. I don't know about you, but I've never heard any orchestra sound, live or not, like "The Asteroid Field", for example. No offense, but saying that is good sounding borders on bad faith. Now, the reason it sounds so bad, no one can say atm. Perhaps one of the reasons is they didn't have access to better sources, etc. But the fact remains, it's unpleasant to listen to.
