I might complain about a Williams loss in a generic Oscar thread. I would not crash a celebratory Goransson thread to air any complaints.

Yeah, I remember my parent's 30th anniversary party. You know, how people were coming up to them and telling them they would have preferred they married different people, and how there are other couples whose anniversary they would rather celebrate. Great memories, great party.

Excellent news. It is nice to see Williams get such honors from people who actually focus on the craft itself.

How was The Book Thief? Did he talk about it at all? I find the full suite to be great--I love the 7-8 minutes suites he put together in that timeframe (warhorse, BFG, etc).

Hopefully, Yo Yo now regrets the crack he made about Williams's mother. Also, on an unrelated note, hearing Just Down West Street would be great.

There is the lovely Prayer for Peace arrangement on the CD for guitar and cello. My idle speculation/money would be on a reworking of it for something else (piano, violin?) so it can be performed tonight.

At this point, Williams programs what he thinks the audience most wants to hear from him, given the location.

The one piece (3 million light years) that I really wanted. I am happy that we are getting Tributes, but the youtube version of it is quite good, so that was less of a priority.

Four recordings in five years! Man, that is super.

Little disappointed that the ET suite has the only the flying theme for the third movement, but we already have good recordings of the Adventures and Stargazing. I really want the proper concert version of 3 millions light years to compile the full suite.

Giving in to the urge to visit this thread must be similar to how meth addicts feel.

While not on my top 10, I listened to Lincoln yesterday. What a fantastic score from start to finish. Every track has something new to offer and the penultimate track is mind-blowingly good. I would say it is his best "Americana" score--that would be a good poll on its own.
