The Force Awakens Will The Force Awakens be Williams' 50th best score nomination?
indy4 replied to crumbs's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Do we know why the prequels were not nominated? I've heard people say JW never submitted them, and I've heard people say it was due to te tracked music they were disqualified. -
Thanks for the advice everybody! I'm in the same place as many of you...caught between conflicting desires to a) own physical CDs of music, b) own digital copies of music or c) rely on Spotify, YouTube, etc. A few years ago I was only interested in owning physical copies. Now when I buy physical copies it's either because it's a John Williams album, it's the cheapest way to acquire the music, or it's not available on Spotify, etc.

Which are the last 10 Limited Edition soundtracks that you bought?

You should check out The Ultimate Titanic album. That has some recordings of tracks with a real choir. indy4 - always preferred the synths

I could've sworn I heard a piano/voice song rendition of the Neverland theme?

What I've been doing up until now is ripping CDs into my iTunes library. The problem is this is taking up quite a bit of space on my computer. Is there a better way to store music, and to still have access to it even when I don't have internet access? Thanks!

Whichever years JW writes the most scores in...so I guess 2002 and 2005. Don't forget Nightmare Before Christmas!

What time is this released (not sure what timezone Inky and Hornist are in)? -
The gyroscopes were one of the less realistic parts of the movie. First, they obviously wouldn't let people control their own pods, they would have it be on pre-established track like the jeeps in the first JP. Second, if they did let people control them on their own, the pods the lines would be ridiculously long because nobody would ever bring them back. Third, the whole concept of exposing people in glass spheres to dinosaurs--pre-established track or not--is silly, as even the herbivores could do some serious damage.

What track never fails to rekindle your appetite for John Williams?
indy4 replied to BLUMENKOHL's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Agh motorcade, good one -
I saw it today, and thought it was pretty decent. Enjoyable flick, and about on-par with the other sequels (and far below the first film). None of the action sequences come close to being as cool as JP or TLW. I thought the intro to the two main characters--especially chris pratt--was really well done

The majority could be referring to some source cues. Is Joseph Williams in AI -

I don't think Zimmer has gotten around to doing concert suites yet, he keeps scoring films. I'd like to hear concert arrangements of The Ring, The Thin Red Line and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. He's done it. At least for PotC, but I think he said for all of his film scores, he writes extended suites of major themes before actually writing to the picture. Some of them are available in that PotC boxset, including bits from AWE. That said I'm not sure if they are typically intended for concerts, or even to be released.

I'm fine with WR conducting, especially if JW was at the sessions. Just worried about JW's health... -

Awful trailer, but I think the film itself will be good.

I like the songs, particularly the duet. The techno is inoffensive
