  1. I read the booklet when I get the cd then it goes on the shelf. Could be scribbled in crayon for all I care. I just want the music. This is one of the reasons, even though I prefer physical product, I’m able to embrace digital releases.
  2. https://x.com/terrymatalas/status/1719522497346117932?s=61&t=tKvlt-cv7gIX6JC09cg5Eg
  3. Looks like you still need to hold on to the original disc to get the album version of “Chicken in the Pot.” 😄
  4. The score, as presented on the album, is very serious and atmospheric. There are 17 tracks with 3 being new recordings of Ifukube themes. In fact it makes me wonder if they were just included for listening purposes, to flesh out the album. Musically, the album offers a glimmer of hope in a few cues. The music heard in the main trailer is part of the score. The tracks Resolution and Unscathed are 2 of my favorites so far. if you’re looking for the typical G score with a heavy theme for the big guy and rousing military marches, this isn’t for you. A surprising modernistic take, minus the chugging strings and thumping percussion that accompanies most films these days.
  5. So the score has already started shipping and in the hands of people here in the us and thanks to a fellow Godzilla fan I will be able to listen tonight.
  6. So I’ve been tracking these down over the year at affordable pricing, I have volumes 4-9. They primarily focus on Akira Ifukube’s non film works with the exception of a couple of the discs. There are 12 volumes, although the last 2 repeat some of the stuff from earlier volumes in live concert settings.
  7. The only thing JP III has going for it are the dinosaurs and most of Don Davis’ score.
  8. My wife talked me into watching Haunted Mansion the other day. I did change my picture setting to “theatre” and it helped with the darkness. But what could have been a very good dark comedy, Poltergeist with humor, was completely lost on the writers and production. Granted it’s based on a ride as Disney, but it was neither scary nor funny. The music also felt like a lost opportunity but at least it didn’t have the generic string chugging.
  9. Listening, talking, attending concerts and buying CDs are harmless as long as they don’t cause a disruption in your life. if all you do is talk about someone no matter the situation or spend money on the above that is needed elsewhere for life’s necessities, then it becomes an obsessive problem. I’d say trying to meet someone (celebrity) outside of events is not a good thing either. If I live near John Williams, I’m not driving or walking by his house everyday unless it’s part of a normal routine that I have to do in order to get to work or taking a walk. Now if I saw him outside of his house while I was walking, I would probably say high, good morning etc etc. I’d be reluctant to stop and chat though. I’ve encountered a few celebrities in public before and just went about my business without bothering them. I don’t think buying the new 20 disc box set is obsessive if you can afford it. Like I said in the original thread, if it came out 20 years ago, I’d be all over it. But now, no, I don’t really need it. I’ve got well over 90% of what’s represented on that set.
  10. @Mr. Hooper if you like dinosaurs, yes.
  11. Sadly I don’t remember any of the music from the Ewok films. Of course I haven’t seen them since they first aired on tv. A lots happened since then.
  12. If this had come out 20 years ago, I’d be all over it. But kudos to those involved with this release. It will be a nice haul for the JW fan just beginning their journey. Kinda like the Varese Goldsmith @ Fox release.
  13. @JTWfan77 I can understand that. I heard Meco’s disco version of Star Wars before I got Williams score. It was a shock hearing the difference. The same with Midway. Obviously I had the Varese recording before the Original and it took awhile to get over the tempo differences. Outside of the theme I wasn’t that familiar with score, having only seen the film when I was much younger.
  14. I have the NFL Sunday ticket so all I do is stream NFL football. I got an email that Disney+ is going to to $18.99.
  15. Received my copy the other day. This is one that I haven’t listened to in awhile outside of the main theme. While there are some obvious Goldsmith inspirations, I forgot about the Jaws ones. Most notably Ben Gardners Boat and The Cage sequence.
  16. I’ve given up hope on ever seeing a proper complete set of IJ or the Prequels, never mind the sequels. At the pace they are going I’ll be too old to collect and long dead by the time the sequels are done.
  17. I got excited cause I got a a shipping notice from Disney Music this morning but is was for something else. My cd has also been pushed back to 10/25.
  18. Typo perhaps? He may have meant to say digital. Or maybe there’s another release coming, a 4 LP of the complete score. 😄
  19. Clearly I’m not paying enough attention to the whole conversation within the thread. My bad.
  20. Truthfully I don’t care. But it clearly says “The” on the CD.
