  1. Might’ve just been a mistake, and now it’s corrected.
  2. Thanks for reading this in context. 😉 Exaggeration for effect, not to be taken literally, I don’t actually think anyone is being abused, no.
  3. @bigjimwilson Yeah, because that’s what any one here has said. “Never release JP or any other score ever again…” “I want my set to remain scarce…” Did you read and understand what I wrote? Not in any of the posts in this thread - no matter the opinion - do I interpret what you do. Most of us are collecting JW’s stuff for the love of his music, not for second hand value. And I doubt any hardcore fan would want to limit the works of JW to new fans. Where do you get this stuff from? This is JWfan. I read a lot of love in every post here - positive or negative. People might have different opinions, but they write with love. Sad if you can not see it. The rant about medicine? How is that any different from what I wrote that “a business will sell stuff”. It seems we agree with each other? You seem more interested in polemic writing rather than actually responding to anything I actually wrote. Your response is completely disconnected from my last post. Please read my previous post again, and if you have anything to say that is actually a sensible response to anything I wrote, I’d be happy to discuss with you. But if not, I’d rather leave your extreme conclusions to your own.
  4. I don’t mind remasters with upgraded sound… I don’t mind keeping a score like Jurassic Park in print… I also don’t mind reissues where the producers add something extra to “spice up” an old product… But the JP box came out quite recently, and according to the press release at the time it was “meticulously produced, edited and mastered by Mike Matessino, in consultation with the composer, director and producers” with the promise that the end product was “a worthy, definitive presentation“. All details still withstanding, it might just be a straight up reissue… But if it’s not, I’m fooling myself to think that any company won’t take a chance to turn a profit if they have one. “Definitive” is only definitive until it no longer is, right? Even LLL seems to be aware that they’re breaking some kind of unwritten customer promise by writing in the official teaser, “commence with the complaints in 3,2,....“ which comes across as a cheap excuse, like a kid who’s gone into the cookie jar and is anxiously urging his parents to give him his punishment already. At least own up to it, own what you are and what you do: you’re a business, you sell stuff - no excuse needed. If this is a product worth while - for old and new customers alike - there’d be no need for complaints from anyone, no? Depending on the details of this new edition, I might buy it, and I might not. Let’s wait and see, shall we.
  5. If this is some minor bullshit upgrade, like a slightly different take on a track, or that some tracks were mastered from a better source, I’d say it borders on being disrespectful to the fans who bought the box set. It’s not catering to a market - it’s abusing a loyal fan base.
  6. There has to be a million of these. Peter Gunn? Pink Panther Theme?
  7. Just finished E01-07 of S4. How’d they turn this once excellent property into the most boring thing I’ve ever seen?
  8. Updated my post with the correct mention of Lex Luthor's Lair. The intermission was right after Superman saved Airforce One.
  9. What an amazing night! I was there with my mum, who made me my very own Superman costume at the age of five. In terms of music, the soundtrack to Superman has had a bigger impact on my life than any other. The Royal Albert Hall was more or less fully seated, except for a few seats from people who’d not been able to fit the new date into their schedule due to the two year delay. You could tell that the crowd was excited to be here, every other attendee sporting some kind of Superman attire - a t-shirt, a cap or a pair of shoes. We were lucky enough to have great seats. Right in the middle of the screen, in the middle of the Arena (row 12, if that means anything to anyone). The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra entered the stage to the crow’s applause, and once the main credits started rolling - wow! That pulsating ostinato is the stuff of dreams and I had a huge grin on my face it as it bloomed into the full fanfare. I picked up some new instrumentation during “The Planet Krypton”, but I guess that’ve always been there, just hidden in the mix. It was also great to hear the unabridged “Destruction Of Krypton”. I also have to point out that seeing Superman on the big screen is quite a different experience than in your home theater - everything is more impactful. Seeing people fall to their deaths as Krypton was torn asunder and the consequential explosion of the planet… it was more dizzying and more horrifying than I’ve ever experienced before. And that carried on through the movie. I picked up a few things I hadn’t before: Jor-El’s emblem isn’t fully attached, just pinned at each side. Clark encounters a polar bear on his way through the Arctic. When clark stops to take out the green crystal to throw towards the horizon, you can clearly see the blue red and yellow-fabric poking slightly out of his bag. I also enjoyed the little details in the arrangement in the hall like the Superman lettering spelling out the word “Intermission” half way through the performance. The Supermen in attendance also added to the enjoyment. The audience was great. Laughing, ooh-ing and aw-ing in all the right places, as there was a communal feeling that we were really sharing something special together. I am so happy to have been able to attend. Although I’ve heard “The Superman March” performed live a couple of times (always a treat), I never would have dared to dream that I’d have the privilege of hearing “The Planet Krypton”, “The Trip To Earth”, “Growing Up”, “Leaving Home”, “The Flying Sequence” and “Lex Luthor's Lair” performed live. It was an actual dream come true.
  10. Now that the show is over, I feel I am leaving Star Wars further and further behind. Too many things that don’t make sense - both in the show itself but also with continuity. And too much shaky cam!
  11. Shark adds nuance to the forum. What a drag if everyone was the same.
  12. So I’m pushing on with TNG. I just recently finished “the best of” Season 5 and 6. So six seasons in, it’s still a great show. I’m having a lot of fun revisiting a show that I watched as a kid in the 90’s! I’d remove the following from my aggregated best of-list though: Season 5; Episode 2 - Darmok This seems to be a fan favorite, showing up on a lot of different best of-lists. And sure, why not? It’s a bit of a mystery. It’s ending is aiming to be profound and deep, about understanding and building bridges. But I didn’t find the mystery too compelling, nor the insights too enlightening. Maybe I’m asking too much of a TNG episode but I didn’t find it as entertaining as the other episodes on the list. Season 5 and 6; Episodes 26 and 1 - Time’s Arrow I get why this would show up on a best of-list. It’s a Star Trek take on Back To The Future and Data is always great to watch when he’s (un-) comfortably out of place. I just don’t like the cringe historical cameo that show up - Mark Twain - and that they try to integrate him into the story, but it ultimately has no impact on the history of said character. Maybe it had been better to have met H.G. Wells and have inspired him to write War Of The Worlds. But I guess the script writers couldn’t do that since then the crew would’ve violated the prime directive. Season 5; Episode 5 - Disaster This one, I’m unsure of what to do with. I must have watched it with only one eye open because I cannot remember much about it. I initially flagged it to be removed - I think it was the kids I didn’t like - but for some reason, I’m reluctant to remove it. It is described as “Star Trek meets Poseidon Adventure” - a TNG episode realized as a disaster movie. And that can’t be bad, can it? Question is, is it good enough to stay on the aggregated best of-list or should it be booted?
  13. How come the Intrada website says 'Temporarily out of stock'?
  14. in the previous episode he kind of smoothly infiltrated that smugglers planet. Although In E03 he seems so paralyzed and dazed to the point where he lets the little girl take the lead? He almost has to grab her hand avd let himself be led along. Wildly inconsistent. And if the former is true - Vader should have cut him down without a problem but instead the writers had to save his a** by mechanics of deus ex machina.
  15. S01E01 and E2 were ok. E03 though… It all seems a bit stupid.
  16. S03E03: The music felt cheap as the third sister approached Vader’s castle.
  17. It hasn’t ”hooked” me. I think it’s good, not great. But maybe I just need to listen to it more.
  18. Helmets music is new, I think so too. The first two episodes were good. Some annoying parts, but overall good. The score - the shift between Williams/Holt - didn’t bother me at all.
  19. It’s the best one posted in this thread yet - including the official one. And my own!
  20. I don't understand why we need Ford's giant head floating around on the cover at all. I understand that is what the original poster/marketing material is/was, but couldn't they "reinvent" the cover to something a bit more atmospheric? Just a thought (and 5 minutes in MS PAINT!):
