  1. I did. It was all tracked, no suite was specifically played. I forget exactly which tracks it used, but I know it included "Lovegood" (which didn't it not play during the actual scene in the film?), "Fireplaces Escape", and "Sky Battle". There is no extra scene after the end credits, for those who always wonder when watching movies, heh. The only Harry Potter film to feature anything after the end credits was "Chamber of Secrets" (a short scene of Diagon Alley, with a book titled 'Who Am I?' with Gilderoy Lockhart on the cover in a straightjacket).
  2. Next week cannot come soon enough to find out. Hook would be absolutely amazing.
  3. It does? I wonder why that track is not on the CD? Or was it the music you mention literally a few notes of Hedwig's theme, then no music at all until it turns into "Obliviate"?
  4. I found the bonus tracks "Voldemort" and "Dumbledores" to be mere underscore for the most part, as was "Bellatrix" but I thought the latter was actually quite exciting to listen to. Glad we have that track at least! I actually am anxious to hear the music that will be in the Limited Edition set that plays for "The Tale of the Three Brothers". I initially thought the track titled "The Deathly Hallows" was for this part of the film until I saw the bonus track list. It'd be interesting to hear Desplat's music for that animated portion of the film as Hermione tells the story...
  5. nevermind, just noticed someone posted a direct link to the itunes site. delete post.
  6. Yeah, this news was frustrating to read for me. We were so close to another Williams score, til the very last minute, it seems.
  7. Hey INDY4, free up your PMs, I have something to discuss with you.
  8. Omg these sound awesome! Despite the quality of the film itself, this score is far better already than Deathly Hallows! Then again I'm sure the tones of both films are every different, but I still wish Arnold had taken over as composer on Harry Potter. Here is proof why! He's still got it! Though I had to chuckle at the clip of "Repicheep". Isn't that the love theme from Arnold's GODZILLA? Hahahaha. An Arnoldism!
  9. More information about why Williams did not end up scoring Part 2: This is the first film directed by composer Alexandre Desplat, who has a wide range of films under his belt already. One reporter asked Yates how they went from Nicholas Hooper to Alexandre Desplat. It led Yates to also talk about their attempt to bring John Williams back for Part 2: "Nick basically needed to have a lie down after the first two films. He was exhausted. I'm such a noodler when it comes to music, and I don't sort of say 'Right, here's the film, go and score it.' I sit with the composer and change things and we move things around and I get them to do several drafts of something because it's so much fun and it's such an important part of the storytelling. And Nick, who's my dear friend, I wanted him to come back. And unfortunately he said 'I'm too tired'. And Alexandre, who's lovely, stepped on board. He'll be doing Part 2. I was hoping to get John Williams, and he wanted to do it, but the only way he could do it was if he scored a rough cut because of his schedule. So I would've had to have given him a rough cut and I need to get the film in a proper state before I present it to anybody. I'm a huge fan of John Williams. I grew up on John Williams. He's a God to me. The thought of showing John Williams a rough cut is "ugh, I can't do that". And so unfortunately even though he wanted to do it and I wanted him to do it, the schedules just didn't fit." Source: http://www.mugglenet.com/movies/movie7/junket.shtml Well... we can at least say this... thank goodness Hooper was "too tired" to do the final 2 films! That would have been awful, imo. Desplat may be generic in his action music, it seems, but Hooper couldn't even write action music! lol.
  10. From the recent premiere of Deathly Hallows Part 1, this information has come about: On John Williams not returning for Deathly Hallows - Part 2, director David Yates said that in order for John to have returned, he would've needed to provide John with a rough cut of the film sooner than was possible. Their schedules simply did not align, but he did make it clear both Williams and Yates wanted to work with each other. Source: http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/3948
  11. Young Sherlock Holmes would be awesome to have! I've always wanted to actually own it, and let go of the footwarmer. It's such an awesome score that is sad to see not many people even know about (let alone the film, which I also think is fun). Broughton may be one of the most underrated composers ever. And never really given as many chances to shine as he deserves.
  12. What's going on with Shrine and FSM? I've only recently started to visit that place anyway. Not like some frequent poster there or anything.
  13. Someone on a certain forum had this to say: "I emailed James Fitzpatrick about it, and he responded in a kindly manner and has offered to replace it with a repress of a new mastering in about 3 weeks time -- which is pretty goddamn awesome. (I feel a bit sorry for the guy, I sure wouldn't want to be in his shoes. Ah well.)" REALLY?!
  14. Exactly. The fact that WB still hasn't issued official confirmation to the fansites who always try and do so is what gives me pause that the site might be wrong. Especially after this very recent interview. But he probably will end up doing it. But who knows? What was that movie, Stepmom? The one Williams suddenly just took over? Haha.
  15. But mistakes can be made on blurbs for even official sites. They still haven't directly confirmed it. I'm not trying to get hopes up for Williams again, but if just a week ago Desplat still didn't even know he was doing it or not... who knows? SK: Are you scoring DEATHLY HOLLOWS, PART 2? Have you been asked? AD: There’s a rumor that I would write it, yes. That’s the rumor… SK: So it’s not official yet? AD: I think you’ve heard the rumor too. [both Laugh] AD: With rumors, you never know. There was a rumor that John Williams will finish it. He could just be toying with us, though. But it was still odd for him to say it like that. I mean it would have been better for him to reveal than some random blurb on the official site in an "about" section.
  16. Interview with Desplat: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/47375 This interview apparently took place about a week ago... and Desplat still doesn't know if he will be doing Part 2 or not... very interesting...
  17. He may very well be telling the truth on that, from his honest opinion. Though you must remember he recently got in trouble by the WB for revealing those on-set Hallows pics haha. They perhaps could have told him to put something like that up, lol. But like I said, he may also actually mean it.
  18. After reading that 10 questions interview, it reaffirmed my opinion that aside from Williams, David Arnold would have been an awesome replacement as composer on the final two Potter films. Oh well, this score will certainly be awesome from the sound of it.
  19. Damn, heh. I think that little theme is really fun. I notice they did choose one track from Destroyer in the rerecording but it seems to be not a track from the film that features that fun little theme.
  20. Random question... does the theme or motiff of the following track that starts at 1:37 to 1:44 appear at all in the first Conan score, or is this only from Destroyer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_SROxzubik
