  1. It's like the LOTR footy team being stomped 29-5 by SW at the John Williams Stadium!
  2. I never said no one should like LOTR, I just don't understand its mass appeal as it drones on like filler music to me. EDIT: I never had enough patience for the book either. I never even finished the first part of FOTR, I just got past Tom Bombadil's house and gave up.
  3. Howard Shore's The Lord of the Rings scores are nice but I really can't see why people would jump the gun and proclaim them as equal to or even better than John Williams' Star Wars scores. I can listen to every minute of a SW score and not get bored, but by the fourth or fifth track of a LOTR score, I find myself hitting that fast-forward button quite a lot.
  4. War of the Stars: The New Hope of the Force.
  5. So many nice, easy going and adventurous folks around these parts.
  6. I wouldn't presume to compare Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Empire Strikes Back. They're so different. I listen to Jerry Goldsmith scores nearly every day. In fact, I'm listening to Twilight Zone: The Movie as I type this, it's like four mini-scores in one! Jerry gets more spins than Johnny does lately, but that's only because I tend to buy a new Goldsmith score every week or two, and I only buy a Williams CD when a new movie comes out, there's really not much more older stuff out there that I can find. There's something electrifying (pardon the pun) about Jerry's music. Can't quite put my finger on it. Even though I'm studying journalism, I'm still not that skilled enough of a wordsmith to describe the beauty and technical aspects of Jerry's scores. I just sit back and enjoy them.
  7. No we do not! Morlock- who thinks that that book embodies every single bad thing about the series. :?
  8. Goldsmith fan or not, your soundtrack collection is incomplete without The Omen trilogy.
  9. Heaven forbid someone criticise Rowling.
  10. I'd love to see Donner's original vision of what Superman II might have been. I've been waiting a long time to see this. I wouldn't mind it either if Warner Bros. bought the rights to Supergirl so they could release it in Australia. I think that film deserves it.
  11. Please, sit down before you fall down.
  12. Star Trek: Insurrection and Total Recall by Jerry Goldsmith. Very fine action scores. ST:I, I think has the best recording of the main theme in the modern Trek movies, and there's some very lovely underscoring in this film, the Ba'Ku theme and "Children's Story" are delightful. TR is an awesome action score that influenced almost all of Goldsmith's scores afterwards. One of his very best.
  13. Trek-bashing? Why, Justin, you know this is illegal.
  14. That's all HAP was, non-stop exposition. You think that's going to make a good movie? I don't think so. Also, it was not a good book, it was badly written trash. Also, what's so good about all this boring backstory if we never encounter Voldemort? There was no sense of urgency, the stakes haven't been raised. Why should I care about these characters (who are now only two-dimensional caricatures of themselves) anymore if I don't care about Rowling's piss poor job of a plot? Again, bad writing. It's as if the characters this time round have been written to serve Rowling's precious plot rather than be themselves. I'm surprised so many people took the bait. Rowling! EDIT: Super!Ginny is one of literature's worst creations. I can't understand why Rowling thinks she's a great character.
  15. “He’s a Pommie.” “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, of course he’s a Pommie, but he’s some kind of a retard or something.” “Halt!” “Okay, shows over, give me the magic wand.” “If you move… I will have to stupefy you!” “Okay, stupefy me”. *wand doesn’t work* “You must be drinking Felix Felicis!”
  16. You fellas aren’t from the Ministry of Magic, are you? You don’t go and train Hippogriffs to go out and retrieve lost brooms or some dipshit like that?
  17. Excuse me, excuse me. I'd just like to ask a question. What does God need with a wizarding school?
  18. RON: You're NOT going in there! HERMIONE: Perhaps you're right... what's Seamus' condition? RON: Well, I don't think that he... HERMIONE: Petrificus Totalis! ... sorry Ron, I really don't have time for this... remember.
