I remember buying the OST of Empire of the Sun with a lot of scratches from a secondHand CD shop. I just owned the LP and the CD was not available in regular stores anymore. It still played well, so I was happy. These old CDs with 72 minutes maximum playtime were much more robust anyway. They could bear a lot of scratches before the player even noticed. Nowadays CDs are so sensitive. They seem to be made just for playing them just one time to copy them onto your harddisk and from then on just play them from your computer.
So they assume everyone has an external DAC to plug their computer into their stereo?

Why are you on the cover?

Yeah why aren't they making it brighter and louder this time?

It's the natural aging process of CD jewel case finishing. Best to just accept it as a nice patina effect.

You guys, I had all the music all along!

You people call yourselves film music fans??

The OST is all you need.

I'll have to procure another USB cable as I don't have any other A-to-B ones in my house.
I haven't played any 192khz files (don't have any), just 44khz ones on my computer or on Spotify. And the distortion usually happens when it gets a bit bassy. I tried the same tracks from my separate CD player and my phone via BT and none of that distorted crackling was present. So it might just be the computer, or some component inside, that itself isn't up to par.

1500 copies haha

The Lucas altered versions are better.

Well there's obviously a weak link in this chain that's causing intermittent distortion. The DAC's BT is fine, it's only coming through the computer/USB.

Apparently USB isn't as clean an interconnect as you'd think, especially if the cable runs longer or thinner, and bits can become lost along the way. And it doesn't transmit a steady stream like optical cables do, rather it sends data in "packets", which can make it prone to errors, and some soundcards aren't as good as others. Very interesting.
I'll have to switch computers and see if my other one sounds better. If not, it might be the cheapie USB cable itself that came with the DAC.

I saw Star Wars 48 years ago.

True. I never go anywhere. I've actually literally never been anywhere. I'm not even real. I'm a construct.
You're fake.

Ugh those new Twin Peaks albums are mastered horribly.

I like how my new one is blue. The old one was black. Blue passports matter.

It's nice to see sometimes some of my old DVDs that were reference quality at the time still hold up in watchability. Yet for some reason, SD signals on cable TV and YouTube often look like a pixelated mess.

It'th "elevayyytehhhd horrehhh".

Hmm getting some weird distortions from the computer via USB, like it's clipping at certain points. The audio stream from my phone via Bluetooth sounds fine though. Is USB really that good an interconnect or does computer audio via USB introduce unexpected anomalies? Because I really think either the computer or USB are the weak links in the chain here.
Greatest track or movement of All Time?

The greatest track is probably something by Mozart, but my favourite is probably some kitschy film score piece.
