E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL - Live to Projection Concerts
ymenard replied to TownerFan's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
The Montreal Symphony Orchestra (OSM) just sent me my tickets, YES! It's a great orchestra for impressionism http://www.osm.ca/en/concerts/e-t-extra-terrestrial/ -
Polytechnique is his worst movie, but at the same time it's his most poignant. It's a really hard movie to watch because it's too real.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial La-La Land ANNOUNCEMENT Thread
ymenard replied to Jay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Looking at both the CD length, it's obvious they have no more place for any alternative that already existed. It also explains why shorts tracks were moved to CD2. But at the same time, since "The Kiss" is half score, half diagenic... it's a good solution. -
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial La-La Land ANNOUNCEMENT Thread

"People who Died" is heard on the radio! Seriously, diagenic sounds rarely find themselves in a JW soundtrack unless it was specially recorded at the session. -

I can now use the Collector's Edition disc as a mirror! -
I said we don't know if such piece was temp-tracked, since it was a really short motif (It's working! in TPM) and only is a couple of seconds long. It's also way too specific to temp track in such a way and it's only the orchestral transcription from Debussy's Prelude. It probably inspired Johnny, especially since impressionism and religious-undertone is all throughout TPM especially the Tatooine scenes. Henry V is another thing...
-
When the only reference is in two back-to-back directed by Spielberg movies, without any other cases of temp tracking in any other movies (things like Hanson / E.T. and Dvorak / Jaws seems not temp tracking but Johnny being post-modern in his writing), and with the original score only couple of years before, it is questioning that it could enter into temp track territory. Steven *was* trying to bring his mojo back, and trying new things in the director's chair.

Well, Spielberg did it on Jurassic Park (with the Brachiosorious cue) and Henry V again. That's why it would more enter into the temp track territory here, it's a lot more harder to say than comparing something like Debussy's La fille aux cheveux de lin and Episode 1.

Henry V / Hook (sorry Spielberg, you should have never temp tracked it)

Is Hans Zimmer live on tour worth the money?
ymenard replied to bollemanneke's topic in General Discussion
Zimmer will be performing at Coachella - 2017 ! -
More, say, than Medal of Honor or Secret Weapons over Normandy? I guess this era of Giacchino is over will never come back again. Perhaps that since it happened so early in his career, it was just a rush of artistic liberation especially if you consider he wasn't constrain on tracking anything in these early video games (no click track or intense spotting).

The John Williams Jurassic Park Collection from La-La Land MUSIC Discussion
ymenard replied to Jay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
So would you do that with classical ballet scores too? Edit them down to suites? What about recapitulations and coda, let's just delete them all? Of course not. OST's should be treated the same. Anyway... were the rumors of different takes from the original OST vs. the 20th anniversary true in the end? What takes are the LLL version from if true? -

Ha! That's just somebody who forgot to click on the appropriate Adobe Illustrator layer "Layer_head_teeth" when he saved his final design to a TIFF file. -
The John Williams Jurassic Park Collection from La-La Land MUSIC Discussion

There's a bootleg that has a lot of alternate takes for JP, are those still real? It comes from the fact that the original CD and the 20th anniversary changed cues...stuff like High Wire Stunts (Alternate Take) or Preparing to Meet the Monster (Album Take)... The only thing for TLW I can find is stuff like the Mozart and Beethoven Piano Sonata No.8, Max Steiner or The Round Up (Album Mix) and The Round Up (isolated percussion) What I mean is, if I get this release, is there anything I have to add digitally to it?
