  1. Oh sure, just mind boggling who would pay this, or think they could charge this much.
  2. This is one of the few Williams/BPO albums I don’t own and have never heard aside from Cowboys and Candide, which appears on the Bernstein album. I would definitely like to check out the rest of the album. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t something else on here I didn’t enjoy. I never saw this one in stores and I seem to recall in the early days of eBay that it wasn’t very cheap. (Jay, would you be willing to part with one of your copies..?)
  3. Williams will score this movie, and I hope he does. Since this is so personal to Spielberg, we might get a really special score from JW.
  4. I’ve had “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” since the 90s, I had joined the BMG Classical Music club and picked it up through them as one of the “free” selections. I’m not into Christmas music, I only got this to add to the Williams collection. The few times I have ever played this has been as background music while decorating or hosting a holiday dinner party. Not something I’ve ever listened very closely to. But I’m with Jay, I far prefer the instrumental tracks to the ones with chorus. The “Joy To The World” CD is much better.
  5. I sometimes forget just how early Williams’ film career started, while the Golden Age composers were still around and working. So cool to think about Alfred Newman hanging out and chatting with young Johnny.
  6. Finally got around to checking this out today, it was wonderful. Love this picture of Williams, never seen it before.
  7. A similar thread on the Kunzel collection would be most welcome. I heard many a score for the first time through those CDs.
  8. This discussion has made me realize that I never ripped “Pops On The March” to my iTunes! Gotta rectify that soon... I have “That’s Entertainment” and I don’t think I’ve ever listened to it.
  9. Add Jaws and this is basically a John Williams greatest hits album at the time of its release. It is a shame Williams himself never recorded the full Star Wars suite. You are making me want to acquire the last few Boston Pops albums that I’m missing. I’m currently acquiring the remaining Kunzel albums that I didn’t have. I used to only buy them if there was a Williams piece on them.
  10. Thanks, I figured it was right under my nose somewhere...
  11. Anyone here have good quality/hi-res cover art for LLL's Karate Kid 2?
  12. HP, easily. Was never big on TLW, and still am not. JP is my favorite individual score from either box set, but there wasn’t much missing from JP to begin with. Just getting the full children’s HP suite from SS alone makes that set more enjoyable to me.
  13. It’s a shame Williams didn’t score “On Golden Pond” for Rydell. I wonder if it was offered to him. I imagine he’d want to score a quieter movie among all the blockbusters he was doing at that time.
  14. Finally the Schindler’s List I-know-but-they’re-all-dead joke gets an official release!
  15. I watched/listened to it this morning. Yes, a lot of the usual fanboy gushing and familiar trivia about the movie but I found it interesting when the conductor talked about what he and the orchestra have to do to prepare and rehearse for these live to picture concerts. And my god, they tell Williams’ Schindler’s List joke again 🤦‍♂️
  16. Ah, got it. I scrolled through the thread before I posted, I didn’t notice that link. Usually the cover art gets posted directly in these threads.
  17. Anyone here have, or know where I can find, hi-res cover art for the individual discs in this set?
  18. I just listened to the OST for probably the last time. Such a great score. Back in the early days of my soundtrack collecting, this was one of the very first soundtracks I bought for a movie that I hadn't seen. And not only that I had no interest in seeing it, but it had John Williams name on it. I remember being hesitant and questioning my own judgment on whether I should get it... of course I was not disappointed.
  19. This track is a perfect little mini score unto itself.
  20. I wouldn't say that it's the best piece on the soundtrack, but ever since the expanded soundtracks have come out "On The Tank" has been my favorite most listened-to track.
