I had a weird idea for a poll after noticing that Williams' OST album titles frequently contain the word Reunion. So I put together this poll with each one that I could find. I'll be the first to admit that I've probably left out one or two of his older cues, but I'm not very familiar at all with those (and I didn't think many would vote for them anyway), but feel free to let me know what I missed. And I know that Raiders is fairly different from the others, but I had to follow my own rule of the title containing 'Reunion', so sorry about that. This is just for a bit of fun and for a weird way to compare different pieces. And side note: I've just used the titles from the OST tracks, so I ignored original cue titles and expansions. So yes, the WOTW Reunion is referring to the one that appears on the OST. (I didn't want to list every version)

I was just wondering what the general consensus as to The Godfather scores are around here... the scores for all three are pretty great, with the first two films being some of my all-time favorite scores. What do you think of Nino Rota and Carmine Coppola's work on The Godfather trilogy?

As you know, the FYC album was available very shortly after the release of the score, allowing the fans to make their own playlists very quickly. Did you stick to the OST album? I do. I’d go so far as to say he could very well be the next John Williams. He can do big, grand, lighthearted stuff like The Secret Life of Pets, and quirky, simpler but no less effective scores like Fantastic Mr. Fox and Isle of Dogs. He can also turn on a dime and do moodier, more subtle work, like The Imitation Game and his Deathly Hallows scores. He’s such a versatile composer. He’s won two Oscars in the past four years, a great feat for any composer. One for his magnum opus The Grand Budapest Hotel, and one for his gorgeous and well-earned The Shape of Water. He’s already established himself as one of the most consistent and prolific composers working today, and I firmly believe he will be remembered as one of the greats. Anyone else feel the same? -
Thought it was about time for this. Though The Book Thief is my subjective favorite, I have to go with TFA. Williams returned to the franchise, gave a full bodied core full of interesting themes, adapted his style to modern scoring, and set up great anticipation for the next film and score.

I'm already fairly certain of this poll's outcome, but I thought it would make for an interesting discussion. Which sci-fi film and its respective score do you prefer; Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey or Christopher Nolan's Interstellar?

Which Vangelis electronic score do you prefer; Chariots of Fire or Blade Runner? Both the scores and the films are undoubtedly iconic and great, but I personally prefer Chariots of Fire over Blade Runner, in both categories.

Which film and score do you prefer; Superman: The Movie or Batman? When it comes to the films, I feel Superman: The Movie is the superior movie. For all its atmosphere and distinctive production design, Batman ultimately feels somewhat hollow. As with nearly all of Tim Burton's movies, it is a film of style over substance. I feel Keaton fails to own the role of the Caped Crusader, while Reeves completely owns the characters of both Clark Kent and Superman. The Bruce-Vicki relationship is empty and emotionally vacuous, and while Jack Nicholson's turn as the Joker is entertaining to watch, it ultimately is little more than an iconic celebrity doing his well-worn shtick in a villain costume. All this is not to say Superman is a perfect film, but it has a lot of heart, and I feel it does a lot right, arguably hitting higher highs than Batman. Both scores are excellent and undoubtedly iconic. While I concede that Williams' Superman may be the superior score, I've always preferred Elfman's Batman, which I firmly believe to be his magnum opus, and in my top ten favorite film scores.

Which Spielberg monster movie (and respective score) do you prefer; Jaws or Jurassic Park? On a technical level, Jurassic Park handily beats the somewhat dated effects in Jaws, but so great is the power of the storytelling in Jaws that I personally find the later to be much more compelling. The suspense is crafted brilliantly. Every line of dialogue is pure gold. The characters are likable and well-written. The film has easily one of the greatest monologues in cinema history (Quint's story of the U.S.S Indianapolis). It succeeds not only as an entertaining popcorn flick, but also as a rich human drama and a chilling mortality tale. There's no doubt in my mind that Jaws is the superior film, by far. Williams' score for Jurassic Park is truly great and memorable, but Jaws just barely edges it out, in my opinion.

We come to it at last; the great poll of our time. Both are massively influential giants in the sci-fi genre, and continue to excite and inspire millions of fans decades after their inceptions. Which sci-fi epic do you prefer; the rollicking action and adventure of Star Wars, or the cerebral intelligence and ingenuity of Star Trek?

The 80's are ripe for setting sci-fi/paranormal action/adventure films and television series, but which of these two do you find better - Stranger Things or Super 8? You decide! I think Super 8 has a better well-rounded story and a better score, but I think it also would've been great as a series too, with more room to develop characters etc.

Both cues serve as main themes to easily the two most influential and popular fantasy series of all time; The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, respectively. Which musical theme do you prefer, "The History of the One Ring" or "Hedwig's Theme"?

Both trilogies serve as prequels to a far greater trilogy. Both have had more of a mixed reaction to their respective fanbases. And now it is up to you to decide; which trilogy is better, the Hobbit trilogy or the Star Wars prequel trilogy? Personally, my vote goes to the Hobbit trilogy. Despite the excessive CGI and visual effects, as well as the additional storylines and subplots, at least it feels as though it is from the same vein of movies as the LOTR trilogy. On the other hand, the Star Wars prequel trilogy completely sidelined the visual style and charm of the OT, resulting in a set of movies that have neither the humor, nostalgia, or feel of the original classic films. The Hobbit trilogy also has far superior acting. Ultimately, the decision is up to you. Please vote in the poll above!

I'm talking about in comparison to other film composers, not comparing him against long-dead classical music composers. For me, he is and has always been my favorite composer, no question.
