Diego 21
I've been getting into other composers lately, although there's still a lot of Williams's scores I'd like to hear but can't find, and so I've bought a few scores of movies I've never watched. While not a requirement I do feel that watching the movie helps when you're getting into a score, and being film music fans I guess actually watching the film is important, so that got me thinking, how many score do you guys own fo movies you haven't seen? Is it buying scores of films you haven't seen something you normally do? Is it something you never do?Of my very modest collection of 62 scores (aprox, I may have counted wrong) I own 15 of movies I've never seen (again aprox.) adamtron 0
Well I haven't seen MI-3, but I bought the soundtrack based on Michael Giacchino's track record of the two ALIAS scores and LOST. I just like his style, so it was a must buy for me. I think sometimes the compositions are strong enough to stand on there own, but I do eventually try to see all the movies and hear how the soundtrack works in the film. JMan 0
I still havent seen Angela's Ashes, Reivers, Empire of the Sun (just parts), I think thats it, so far. I own those scores too.
KingPin 201
I think Munich is the only one I haven't seen but own the soundtrack. I'll be buying the DVD this week if I have time. And JMan should get a move on and watch Angela's Ashes and Empire of the Sun - both moving films in my opinion. And I consider Empire of the Sun one of Spielberg's finest acheivements (I actually had a dream once where I interviewed Spielberg at a bar and told him that I thought this) and one of Williams' most poignant scores.(Sorry, that wasn't relavent to the topic, but I wanted to throw it in anyway)

Ollie 1,059
At some point I try to make an effort to see the film but I've lost track of what I have or haven't seen. But there are some films I may never end up seeing but I'll have the music.Other than Memoirs of A Geisha and Munich I think I've seen or tried to sit thru almost all the films score by Williams. There are a few from the early years and a couple from the 70's I haven't seen. The same applies to Jerry Goldsmith. Now alot of of the movies I've seen that were made before 1970 are finally getting their scores released thanks to FSM, Varese, Intrada, Percepto, and LaLaLand. John McClane 1
It happens quite often that I'm only interested in the score (because it's composed by a composer I like) and not interested in the movie.

I got the score when it came out, and rented the movie at Blockbuster two weeks ago....
