I'll change the composer about once a week, I think. Goldsmith is first. Just a simple survey - you can have 1-2 answers per question, if that makes it any easier.

Here goes. What is your favourite....

Finally a topic worth replying to... anyways here are my choices.

Jerry Goldsmith score: The Mummy

Jerry Goldsmith theme: Star Trek Voyager

Jerry Goldsmith cue/track: "The Hijacking" - Air Force One (gotta go with Marc on this one)

Jerry Goldsmith album: Again, gotta agree with Mr. Breathmask about his complete scores.

Film scored by Jerry Goldsmith: Star Trek First Contact (despite the fact his son scored some cues)

Tough one. I'll give it a shot.

Jerry Goldsmith score: Under Fire

Jerry Goldsmith theme: I don't know...Patton? Medicine Man? Rudy (Tryouts theme)? Wind and The Lion? 'Kick The Can'?

Jerry Goldsmith cue/track: Radek's Death (Air Force One) (Picking second place would be impossible for me, but this is my clear favorite).

Jerry Goldsmith album: In general, Under Fire, or Total Recall. Right now, it's Fierce Creatures.

Film scored by Jerry Goldsmith: Patton or L.A. Confidential? I'm not sure.

You must not have heard enough.....His complete scores are sometimes the best, often they're ridiculesly redundant. Some of his very best album are no longer than 50 minutes, and hardly complete at that.

Morlock- who entirly agrees with Goldsmith abount not wanting every ounce of his music to be released.

Agreed. There are quite a few cases where I prefer the tighter pace of the original albums. I noticed someone on FSM - I forgot his name - who seems to be against any expanded re-release, whatever the score, and that seems a bit bizarre to me, though.

Jerry Goldsmith score: Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Jerry Goldsmith theme: The Second Coming theme from Final Conflict, Jack's theme from Legend

Jerry Goldsmith cue/track: "The Dress Waltz" from Legend, "Dancing Shots" from King Solomon's Mines... and one more, I can't leave out "Flying Ballet" from Supergirl. Damn, there's "The Enterprise" from Trek: TMP too... too many to choose from...

Jerry Goldsmith album: Poltergeist (Rhino release), Total Recall (Original release - I love the deluxe edition too, but the OST has intelligent sequencing and a great pace to it that's not quite captured on the deluxe)

Film scored by Jerry Goldsmith: L.A. Confidential

I think the rediscovery factor with Goldsmith is pretty huge, so these can only really reflect how I'm feeling about his music right now. In a month's time, the answers would probably be mostly different.

Though I don't agree with limiting the release of music, I can definitely appreciate your point about albums often being better. I listened to the complete First Knight yesterday, and the album today. Even though the album makes no mention of a major theme (Lancelot's Theme), it's still a far better and more enjoyable listening experience at 40 minutes than the complete score is at almost 80.

In regards to complete scores I've always said I'd rather have more than less. Give me the complete score and as the listener I'll trim the fat myself. I'd rather hit the skip button than lament the fact that certain cues are missing.

I'm not the type where I have to make all these adjustments to CDs once I get them. I don't care if it's in film order or cues are combined etc etc just as long as I get the complete cue and not all hacked up, ala TPM UE.

Wow, there is so much great music by Goldsmith it's hard to choose and I'm leaving out so many good scores but off the top of my head:

Jerry Goldsmith score: Total Recall Deluxe Edition / Blue Max

Jerry Goldsmith theme: Star Trek

Jerry Goldsmith cue/track: The Enterprise / The Artist Who Did Not Want To Paint / The Hunt (POTA)

Jerry Goldsmith album: Night Crossing / Goldsmith At 20th Century Fox

Film scored by Jerry Goldsmith: Patton / Innerspace / Poltergeist / Hoosiers

My Goldsmith experience isn't as extensive as it should be either, pretty much Trek and a few other things. I'm working on it, but here's where I am right now:

Jerry Goldsmith score: Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Jerry Goldsmith theme: TMP Main Theme, Klingon Theme

Jerry Goldsmith cue/track: The Enterprise- TMP

Jerry Goldsmith album: Eh, I'm a complete score nut too

Film scored by Jerry Goldsmith: Patton

Jerry Goldsmith score: Patton Listen to a track like German Advance, such strong melodic content with crazy original brass, the echo machine, this score is not only strong in melodic material but is very innovative and follows the ideal in my signature. Further more it is extremely intelligent with the symbolism and description of the character of patton. This is a truily great score.

Jerry Goldsmith theme: Tora Tora Tora

Jerry Goldsmith cue/track: The Big Jump (total recall) Best rhythms ever! This is top musicianship.

Jerry Goldsmith album: Patton/Tora Tora Tora re-recording

Film scored by Jerry Goldsmith: Patton

It feels criminal not to include The Omen or his other Star Trek scores (especially First Contact). It just goes to show how good he really was.

...Even if it is copied from Waxman's Prince Valiant, which I've never heard. (*Note: I just listened at FSM, and yes, it is verbatim, but I just can't tell if it was intentional, though some may be less hard to convince one way or the other)

I recognize the first four composers. Who are the last two?

5 is Danny Elfman, 6 is John Powell.

Oh yeah, Danny Elfman! I know how he looks, of course, but didn't recognize him; isn't he a bit chubby in that picture??? (Also, I think he always looks slightly insane to me -- just like his music always sounds slightly insane to me. :( )

John Powell, I don't think I have ever seen a picture of him before.

You wait till you hear him talk...

I didn't know he's English until that interview with scorenotes (I think). It was so unexpected, I mean the name Powell sounds American to me, his music sounds American... where's the clue?

Yeah, that completely caught me off guard as well.  I had to drop what I was doing and go :( .
